Woody, you seem to know a lot about this so I have another question? I seen that the CIC wants its members to be contiguous or they will not except them. How will that work with us taking GT? If this is true, then I can see us getting UNC, UVA and possibly FSU. That would give us 18 and they would meet the CIC requirments for being bordering states.

Are you saying they won't enjoy their trips to Aimes, Manhattan, KS and Waco? join the ACC only to have the conference collapse. we didn't join it. We made a deal with them over the Big12, Pac12, or BigEast because the ACC offered the best one. If they can't hold their end of the bargain, we'll find someone else to work with to preserve our independence. There will be a time when you will be playing CUSA teams because of your independence. If all the big confrences go to 18 or 20, they will drop you guys for an in confrence game. It would be in ND best intrest to join before you get left out.

Sumlin is tearing it up with recruiting...I like Scotts comments about UT when it was brought up. " I like UT but they are kinda falling apart and A&M is on the rise "

Reading on the GT boards, they think ND will follow as #16. I don't see it happening.

Would UNC leave NCST, Duke, UVA, and other founding members of the ACC? Would Maryland have left if they were in a stable financial situation and weren't desperate for the money? I don't think they would have left...The only ones that I have seen that have been wanting to leave the ACC is FSU and Clemson, and that was because they want into a better football confrence.

If the B1G hadn't shaken the big 12 tree by talking to Missouri, Nebraska never would have fallen out. BTW don't conflate schools with current football success. All of east coast schools being targeted by the B1G are by far the stronger Universities. The odds of the COP/C allowing entry to another academic outlier are beyond slim. So you're saying that Rutgers and Maryland are stronger universities than Texas, Oklahoma, Florida State, & VaTech? I would argue not, but what do I know?... Rutgers and Maryland ARE stronger Universities than all those except for Texas. On what criteria are Maryland and Rutgers stronger universities than Texas, OU, & FSU?... Academics maybe, but when we are assembling a conference for athletics, we should rate athletics at the top. Texas, OU, FSU, and VaTech are all much stronger schools athletically than Maryland and Rutgers, which is what the B1G NEEDS. Otherwise, this conference will continue to slip into irrelevance. But we are not doing it for athletics, we are doing it for new tv sets and money. Texas & FSU would bring a lot more new ones, don't know if it would be more then Maryland and Rutgers, but OU wouldn't be enough.

I have seen 2 names pop up with CU for coaching...Mark Mangino and Jeff Tedford they seem to think that both would be a " splash " hire...

I have read on FSU boards that they are conflicted on whether they want to go to the Big12 or B1G and no SEC. The Admins want to go B1G but the fanbase wants ACC or Big12.

Look at the number of recruits that we have taken compared to tOSU and Mich. tOSU is tops no matter what, but I think we would be ahead of Mich if we had the number of recruits that tOSU even had over the time period

If they're willing, I could easily see Kansas, NC, and any combination of FSU, Clemson, Ga. Tech, Miami, Va. Tech, UVA getting a nod to go to 18 or 20. Barry Alvarez didn't just throw out that Superconference crap for nothing... I have seen the 20 team confrence throwin around also. It showed the confrence broke up into 4-5 team divisions and it would have a playoff out of the top teams in each division to determine the B1G champ. It had FSU, Clemson, Miami, GT, UNC, UVA all coming aboard along with Maryland and Rutgers.
