  1. After watching the game Saturday, Riley has to be very pleased with what he saw. Nebraska players had a rough month, and were able to hang with a very talented team. USC is going to be a National Title contender next year. They are good. Not many new coaches get to walk into a situation where a program is used to winning a lot of games. The potential is there for a quick turnaround with this team, and I'm betting Riley is well aware of that.
  2. I remember when Brady Hoke was a home run hire.... Fans, and media alike, loved the guy (and the hire). Talks of championships could be heard in Lincoln. The last two highly praised hires at Michigan have failed miserably (Hoke, and Rodriguez), so I wouldn't just assume this one works out... Just because the guy is a rock star doesn't mean success is imminent.... And just because Riley didn't have success at the outpost that is Oregon State, doesn't mean he won't win championships at a place like Nebraska....
  3. What are we doing at QB coach if we're not looking at this guy..... I mean.... Textbook.
  4. If you throw the ball 51 times, you sure as hell better throw for over 300 yards.... 51 attempts! No one is questioning Armstrong's competitiveness, or his leadership qualities. Kid is a gamer, no doubt. However, there is no denying that terrible, terrible 4 game stretch towards the end of the season. When Abdullah was hurt, and it fell on him to carry the offense, he crumbled.
  5. Nailed it jcsmhammel... Honestly, it's it very telling that Pelini was a head coach at a very high profile university and now seemingly not wanted at an FBS level. Instead, the press conference is laced with how the move was very much about Bo's family being happy and a good place to live. Skersfan, you are also correct in that he is taking a lesser paying job in order to stick it to NU and get the most money he feels the university owes him. This is not a Boner thread and if you have wasted time on it then that's on you. Folks, if anyone creates a thread with Bo or Pelini in the thread title, feel free overlook it if you're not interested in reading about it. First off, welcome to the board.... The reason most of us "usuals" were giving you such a hard time about the OP is because you started a new thread to point out that you watched the introduction press conference at YSU, and that you seemed to have just realized the much discussed, highly-publicized connection between Pelini, the Stoops, and Youngstown..... If there was a list of the top 10 things "most known" on this board, that conneciton would make the list. Wrong. Didn't see anywhere that someone has pointed out there is a Stoops brother on staff at YSU. If it was, then I missed it and make no apologies for it. And no, contrary to anyone's belief or limited reading comprehension did I reveal that the Pelini - Stoops historical connection was just figured out by me. Some of you give yourself way too much credit and feel everyone is stupid. Starting a thread about it implied as much..... You're an awfully defensive person. I bet you get "picked" on a lot, but have a Mom who tells you how smart you are. Maybe a younger, unintelligent cousin that you use as self confirmation of your own intelligence.... Just a guess....
  6. Whatever gets them fired up! I have seen plenty who think otherwise, but with most of the team coming back next year, I don't see how this game doesn't have an impact going forward. A win makes winter conditioning, and spring ball a little easier....

  8. Netflix orignal series "Marco Polo" is pretty good 4 episodes in.... I don't know how historically accurate it is, but i don't really care either. Plot line is slow to develop, or very detailed, depending on your point of view..... Still not convinced? Bonus: A lot of naked Chinese/Mongolian women.
  9. Holding out hope that this is one of those games where the Oline inexplicably plays their asses off and looks like a great Oline....
  10. Wow, "lightly" wasn't light enough.... Those are some high expectations, but anything is possible.
  11. Gaining a lot of respect for Barney Cotton throughout this process, fellas...

I understand he maybe isn't the best coach and hasn't got the best results. But there is no denying his commitment to the program.

      Barney Cotton gave me hepatitis.

  12. I agree he has great vision, but certainly doesn't have any speed to burn. The most impressive thing about him is his patience, imo.....
  13. I would seriously recommend asking about getting him enrolled in Iowa Western Community College for a year. They have a fantastic program there as JUCOs go and it's literally right across the river from NU. He could go there for a year to get his academics in order, more playing experience, etc. and be well prepared for D1 ball in the future. Great I'll let him know your suggestion. Also Hedley I'm pretty sure it's his mismatched Swedish to American credit hours. And when he retires he can move to Oakland, NE because, well it's the swedish capital of Nebraska!
  14. Anyone ever buy residential investment properties from Auction.com?

  15. Admittedly, when I first saw the thread title I thought we were going to discuss Papuchis being a "prop" within Bo Pelini's defensive system..... Aside from taping fingers, and playing head coach when Bo has halftime heart attacks... what did he really do?
  16. Coach Bray is who I'm most excited for. Gonna definitely be interesting in how the offensive side falls. Saw where Crabtree (recruiting guy) said he was one of the better young recruiters around. As a fellow fan who likes Bray's potential, this video was interesting (maybe you've seen it).
  17. It's impossible to ignore the fact that he was constantly looking at other schools. Even Sean Callahan said as much on Twitter, and he seems to be a fairly informed guy. Did he like Nebraska? Obviously, he committed here, but he was still under the radar when he did. With the added attention as time went on, he started to like some other schools too. I think the chance was good this was going to happen whether Bo stayed or not.....
  18. If Boyd Eppley likes him then maybe we should give him a chance.oh I'm willing to give him a chance, just like anyone else on this new staff, just gets tiring being a "training school". I don't care about splash hires, just want someone who has actual experience and has a resume. Like the two I named above. They are at smaller schools, no reason why we can't entice them to come here. I'm not upset about the hire, moreso scratching my head about it. It seems like everybody else that Riley has hired is an experienced coach, maybe he's the exception. He worked under one of the best so I'm all for it.
  19. Landlord, throwing fellow posters under the bus on Twitter.... really?
