  1. That's one of those stupid Bring Back Gameday things that some of the students are doing. I'd rather play Hey Baby after the third instead of that chant. It was pretty cool that we got the Husker Power chant going a couple times while they were reveiwing. Can't be beat. Won't be beat is a product of the athletic department and bring back game day stuff. From what I have heard is that the students don't attend the rally very well and as a student I have yet to go to one either. We are also tweaking the end of the third quarter looking for something to pump up the crowd. Hence the switch to enter sandman. The husker power chant during reviews is just the few of us front and center in east stadium personal attempted to keep people loud. Last saturday was our first attempt at it and it seemed to go over pretty well.
  2. Linky Link I personally like them.
  3. We're not going to be "Oklahoma loud" every game, though. It's not reasonable to expect the stadium to be rocking when we play Middle Directional State College. Nobody gets amped for those games. Right, wrong or indifferent, almost nobody thought we'd have a four-quarter game against Fresno, either, so they weren't all jacked up early on. It got loud later on, right? According to Rivals, Nebraska ranked sixth in the nation in season ticket cost last year – but that's a bit of a misapprehension of the total cost, since the minimum donation of $150 will only get your name on the waiting list, where you'll stay for years just giving $150 a year. When you factor in the real cost of a season ticket, they get priced out of the range of most younger people pretty quickly. Hence you have an older, more affluent crowd rather than a younger, more energetic crowd. I think the East Stadium skyboxes will help focus sound quite a bit, making the place louder, but even still I doubt we ever get close to Husky Stadium or Autzen or places famed for their noise. Our crowd is old. Older people yell less, on average. I know we won't get jacked for all the Middle Directional State, but when games get close we don't know how to turn it on. We have a hard time clicking into loud when things getting dicey. Most of the time we turn to booing and going we suck instead of getting jacked. Look at SDSU. We thought it would be a blowout and when it didn't, instead of getting loud, we just start commenting about how bad we suck. The stadium never seemed to get loud at all. I do hope on the other hand that the new sky boxes help keep the sound in better.
  4. I thought the atmosphere was rowdy for that game...i dunno where you were. You're joking right.......I could hear Carr calling out the snap from the 43rd row in the North endzone when FSU was on the 10 yd line going into the South endzone. It was pathetic. I've gotten so fed up with it at this point, i really have no desire to even go to games anymore. No you couldn't. If everyone was perfectly quiet, this would still almost be impossible just with quiet bodies in the seats absorbing the sound, and I know not every single person was perfectly quiet. It may not have been hostile, but this is an exaggeration. A definite exaggeration. I sat in the south stadium for the Fresno game and the students were making plenty of noise. The fans around me were hollering as much as I was. Carr would have to be wearing a mic to be heard in the north stadium while he was facing south, and all the folks in the south stadium were facing north, shouting at you. In fact, this was as loud as I've heard the stadium since the Missouri game. It wasn't jacked the entire time, but basically as soon as FSU scored, it got louder and stayed louder than normal. That's the problem. Our normal isn't very loud anymore. I sat in the front of east stadium student section and spent most of the game just trying to amp up the rest of the student section. Go and listen to the Oklahoma game two years ago. That's how we need to be all the time.
  5. We started the season overrated and as long as we put up W's we will continue to be overrated. Shut up and enjoy #10 while we have it. It will all work itself out eventually. By the end of the year we will be back!
  6. 38-21 NU Polk will show us again why we have things to work on. I also remember everyone hating on me when I said we would have some struggles stopping the run this year. I don't look so dumb anymore do I?
  7. Taylor has actually graded out very high in his audibles at the line. I know week one he changed the play several times when Beck was wanting to run a play to see how it would work and Taylor read the defense and changed it. They finally had to tell him to run the play so they could get it on tape. Many of our big plays this year have come on his change calls. The coaches have been very happy with that aspect and they stated he is ahead of where they thought he would be with those after only 2 games. How do you know this? They have said this in multiple interviews. Beck said that a couple of Martinez's long touchdown runs were him audibling at the line. They also say he is reading the defense really well.
  8. T-mart. He will have more yards rushing than anyone else just on 3 specific carries. It is the other 10-15 carries that worry me.
  9. What happened to you Cy? You use to be cool. Cy still cool! Naw. You changed.
  10. Pelini is so bad-ass he scared the offense into giving the ball back.
  11. Anyone know why we didn't have one last week?
  12. I like turtles! Now that is some good reporting.
  13. Sorry, had the sign all made up, just made a huge nebraska N, ended up sleepin past my alarm and got there a half hour after it started. FAIL!
  14. Even Green said to the paper that he needs to work on his speech when on camera. He knows it's a work in progress, so if we see him in the future, I think he will do better.
  15. He wants it done right. That is the idea and his is willing to make sure it happens. It's good to know he wants it done right instead of scrapping it. Practice will hopefully iron out those things he wants run right and has a lot of tape on what is wrong and how to fix it. Run it and run it right!
  16. I would agree if this were Ohio State or Wisconsin but not the team we played. I would think, even as a point of honor, that they would make it a priority not to be scored upon. Was my expectation unrealistic? I did think they played well though. I'm very proud of them but maybe my expectations of the entire game were off. I wasn't one of the ones who thought we would 'beat the crap outta them'. It seems like these FCS teams have nothing to lose so why not go in and 'face the giants' They may get lucky and win like SDSU did last season. Do you think we might've underestimated this team? Or was it truly just a 'glorified scrimmage' and because the team knew that they didn't play up to their potential? Thanks for the discussion! OU-47 Tulsa-14 Bama-48 Kent St.-7 FSU-34 UL-Monroe-0 Stan-57 SJSU-3 A & M-46 SMU-14 Okie St.-64 UL-Lafayette-34 VT-66 App. St-13 MSU-28 YSU-6 A lot of teams with big expectations couldn't shut out there much weaker opponents. It's not like we played a high school team here. It is understandable to want a shutout every game, but even against some weak opponents your going to slip up eventually. Last years team didn't get any shutouts. '09 got 2 with the first happening 4 games in. Give the defense time to mold and let our best d-back get on the field before you write this off as a less than stellar performance. We stopped crucial fourth down plays and blocked a field goal. The defense lived up to most of my expectations with some mistakes that are going to happen on opening day. Hope things continue to get better next week!!!
  17. I wouldn't mind seeing Legate and Zimmerer getting a carry or two a game. If they get it to work once or twice then do it.
