huskersals24
I know some one that is close to Kurt, and they say that he has mono, and that it is not for certain if he will play again this season?! That would be a big loose to the O line. GBR Quote Link to comment
Alex 4.0
mono and out for the year? That doesn't sound right at all.. If thats the case, i guess we will take him back next year on a medical redshirt Quote Link to comment
gamecocks
mono and out for the year? That doesn't sound right at all.. Really, I'm not surprised by that at all, mono is very hard to come back from. When I had it, I was extremely tired for about two months and I hardly did the kind of excercising that Mann does. DaveH
He definitely won't be available for Troy. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
Which sucks!!!! Quote Link to comment
melscott62
when I had mono totally wiped out for about 15 day. somehow in that time period I lost 25 pounds(and I did not have 25 pounds to loose, I was in really good shape) after I got to the point were I could get out of bed I was still in bad shape. It took me the whole summer to start felling back to normal. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
I've never had mono and from what your saying I don't ever want the crap!!!!! Quote Link to comment
TrueHuskerFan
Are we even for sure he has mono? Quote Link to comment
roadrat
Pardon the pun, but FWIW Travis Justice made mention of west nile virus on the radio last week. That's not a confirmation either, but more believable. Quote Link to comment
huskersals24
I am pretty positive that it's mono, my source is close with Kurt and the fam. Doens't sound good. Quote Link to comment
medphish
The problem with mono is that the person's spleen enlarges, and any physical contact is usually out of the question for 6-8 weeks, or he could rupture his spleen. at least until a physician determines that the spleen has decreased in size. A ruptured spleen is life-threatening. of course, who knows if he really has mono or not, but if he does, no physician would allow full contact football for at least 6-8 weeks. and I'm one of them. gamecocks
Thanks for the info about the spleen and good to have you around. Quote Link to comment
Hawkeyehusker
He is probably done for the season. He might be able to come back but I imagine the longer he is out the longer it will be before he is back in playing form. The good news is Byford is doing a lot better than we could have expected. Now if Byford gets injured we are in a pickle. Quote Link to comment
Huskerfan55
It was reported on KFAB this morning that Mann has mono. I have a son who got it at the end of a school year and was basically sick all summer! He was down for 2.5 to 3 months! Quote Link to comment
HuskerfaninOkieland
From Journalstar.com Nebraska starting center Kurt Mann has “turned the corner” in his battle with mononucleosis and might return to practice as soon as next week, his father said Monday.
