mmmtodd
i about choked on my tongue when i heard this. he's not going to have a problem at all finding a job. think pioli has him on speed dial? i dont necessarily blame the bucs though. sometimes you just need some fresh faces, fresh outlook. something is obviously not quite right when you start 9-3 and still cant make the playoffs with NFC teams self-imploding all around you. chamrocck
I'll throw some pure speculation. He takes Chiefs or Rams job now. He waits a year and then goes to Cowboys? Or he waits a year and replaces JoePa at Penn State. If he doesn't take another NFL job, maybe he considers college? I think Gruden would be very good in college. Very good motivator. At Penn State he could be a consistent winner in the Little 10. Quote Link to comment

What has Gruden done since winning the Super Bowl with Dungy's team? He is a supposed offensive genius, but offense has been the main problem his entire time in Tampa. Gruden is highly overrated, he was 57-55 at Tampa. Dungy was 54-42 and was fired. If anything, I think the Bucs have sellers remorse after what Dungy did with Indy. Gruden won't have a problem finding a job, but he will lead that team to a string of 9-7/8-8 seasons also. Quote Link to comment

Kick out the Superbowl season, and he's decidedly average in his record. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
Hell, I'm happier than hell considering my Rams made a huge improvement, hopefully, by hiring Spagnuolo today. Quote Link to comment
mmmtodd
while he may be "average," who's team did billy c have 'success' with nfl wise then piss away? the guy obviously knows what hes doing. im sorry, there is only so many super bowl champions out there, and if you want to give him crap for winning one with tampa bay because it was dungy's team, well, thats bogus and you know it. (dont get me started on dungy, peyton might as well have drawn a double salary) granted, this years flop was particularly stupendous, but the guy has IT. Quote Link to comment
kansas husker
I think he is a great coach and will bounce back. He's made some mistakes but he is a solid coach whom dedicates himself to his team like none other. He may not find a job for next year but he'll land on his feet and take a team to the top much like he had the bucs competing for the divison every year. Quote Link to comment

If Callahan won with Gruden's team, Gruden won with Dungy's team. Just watched an interview with Warren Sapp the other day that basically said as much. Tell me what Gruden has done there after 2002 that is noteworthy? The defense Dungy and Kiffin built has carried that team while Gruden's offense floundered. He is a very average NFL coach. Norv Turner is probably just as good of a coach. Quote Link to comment
NUpolo8
Somewhere, in his iron lung, Al Davis would like to laugh. But laughing might kill him. And Al Davis is hell bent on never dying. Quote Link to comment

Gruden W O N. plain and simple. i dont care who he did it with. dungy couldnt, gruden came in, and W O N. you totally missed the jist of my post. Cally couldnt do it with the angry midget's team, against the angry midget. the guy is obviously smart if can run away (read:forced out) from the diabolical madman and have the ultimate revenge, no? thats the stuff legends are made of bud. im a raiders fan, and screamed for joy when they got rid of callahan. you can only imagine how i felt several months later when we hired their abortion of a coach at nebraska soon after.
