Mizzou position breakdown

IF you were right, maybe not playing well has something to do with who they've played and who is around them. I think it's funny you admit that we've faced some talent, but then go on to say that our "cupcakes" are basically indistinguishable. Your sole claim to fame is that Arkansas State made a game against a Big 10 team look somewhat close with a late score. This is the same team that lost at home to Troy mind you. The same Troy that BG beat on the road. Oh yeah, powerhouses.

So I ask you again. Which of your cupcakes is a mid level BCS conference team? Which of them has a player capable of leading a BCS conference in total yards, or has a first round draft pick, or the equivalent of the top unit in a BCS conference at any position? Which of your cupcakes is capable of putting up 773 yards on anyone? The fact is that Nevada and Illinois are way better than anyone you've beaten, and BG is about as good.

The "pedestal" I'm putting them on is simply defending them from the "cupcake" charge you seem to want to throw around. They are obviously not cupcakes, and both were good enough to teach us about ourselves.

It is impossible to carry this discussion on further with you when you are clearly misinterpreting and not reading my posts beyond a mere skimming level.

Not only is the first line in your post something we agree upon, something that I even posted ("That said, you are only as good as your team will let you be, and considering Illinois is bad at a lot of positions, this makes these guys look bad."), you are contradicting my method of proving our cupcakes steel by using the exact same reasoning for yours. Which is why I said I'm not going to get into a pissing contest over who's is better when the argument is too circular.

Good call. Sometimes you just realize that whoever you are arguing with will not concede anything and you've got to know when to move on.

Edit: also . . . that "outstanding" qb in Juice Williams has been benched by Illinois. Just saw it on ESPN. Hmmm . . . how's that Mizzou competition looking now?

how is special teams not as important. Special teams can give you good or bad field position. Special teams kicks field goals, special teams pins opponents in their own territory. and we frankly have the best specialists in the nation see Henrey (Mr. Automatic) and Big boot kunalic. and last time i checked virginia tech isn't overrated. They beat a good miami team. how good we will find out today if they beat oklahoma.

A bad offense will get you 300 yards and 3 scores. A good defense will get you 300 yards and save 4 scores. Good special teams will get you 100 yards of field position and 1 score. Fantastic special teams will get you 200 yards and 2 scores. Offense and defense are on the field for 100 snaps a game. Special teams maybe 10 or so.

This is really a no brainer and I'm surprised there's debate about it. I never said it wasn't important, just not as important as offense and defense.

You forgot FG's.

That's just it - the argument isn't even circular. The stats are pretty cut and dry, he just refuses to see them for what they are. Missouri has played weak offenses and defenses no matter how you break them down. Against these weak offenses and defenses they have either trailed or struggled against throughout the game.

DocNice, you aren't talking about the same Va Tech team that passed for over 300 yards today and 2 tds. I know that you will say its against Duke and anybody could have done it, but you played Furman and anybody could have passed against them too.

Is that the same Furman that passed for 300 yards against Missouri? :laughpound

Is that like giving up 358 yards to Florida Atlantic, one of the Bottom 10 teams in the country according to ESPN?

you are using the espn's "bottom ten" as a reference? seriously?

oh and by the way rusty smith is the sunbelts all time passing leader....

This thread is pretty epic for many reasons. Alot of foolish statements on both ends. But i have to say, outside of some of DocNice's statements my fav was,

As for QB I would take Zac Lee over most of th QBs we will play. He may prove me wrong, but I suspect Lee will be very famous by Dec 5 Big 12 Championship day
:laughpound

corrected should have read

As for QB I would not take Zac Lee over most of th QBs we will play. He may prove me wrong, but I suspect Lee will be very famous infamous by Dec 5 Big 12 Championship day

He was only a few letters away from being spot on. ;)

Talk about some swings and misses. This thread is full of fail. Sometimes its funny to go back and see just how far off some of the things said on this board are. I know I have had my own :)

For a second, I thought that Doc Nice had returned to the board, given his disappearance following the loss.

I am glad to now prove to him, however, that Illinois turned out to not be a very good football team (as I had predicted) despite his insufferable opinions about them.

IDK Kansas. So many trools for both teams. I cant even begin to recall the number of threads that were started with the sole purpose of trying to pi** the other teams posters off.

Personally I hope its nothing like that this year...

I can guarantee you it will not be like that this year. :)
