huskerswrkhavoc
I know most people around lincoln at least don't listen to Gottlieb's show at all because 1480 has the spread on throughout the duration of it, but Jayson Smith (all night guy) is hosting it today and had Mel Kiper, Jr. on just a little bit ago talking about the college football season etc. The topic came up about the heisman and as Kiper's made it known he feels that Suh is the best player in college football.. He went through a whole rant on how the award means nothing anymore because it isn't what it is defined as. The award is nothing but the best qb, rb, wr/return specialist on a team that is competing for the national title. He then said that even if it was only an offensive award that CJ Spiller is having by far the best season, but because Clemson isn't competing for the title that he has no chance. Kiper then went on to talk about how he's had discussions with people about the heisman and asked what it meant to those that vote.. they said the best player in college football, and Kiper then brings up why Suh isn't on their list at all, even in the top 5. And then says on air, that its obvious that they don't want a DT from Nebraska to win the Heisman because they EVEN TOOK HIM OFF THEIR INTERNET POLL TO ENSURE THAT HE WOULDN'T GET THAT VOTE. Then the interview basically ended.. thought that was funny. Go kiper. Quote Link to comment
Husker4lif3
Im not a huge fan of the guy, but atleast he loves big SUHHHH!! Quote Link to comment
frazier9495
Todd McShay said this is his first year getting a Heisman vote and that it will probably be his last after voting for 3 defensive guys even though it sounds like he will vote Eric Berry #1 and Suh #2 don't remember who the 3rd guy was....better than most voters though Quote Link to comment
T_O_Bull
The Heisman's a joke. T_O_B Quote Link to comment
Count 'Bility
Well, Doug Gottlieb is a doosh in his own sense anyway. After his comments during the home Kansas basketball game a year ago, i wish someone would knock him on his ass Quote Link to comment
lilred
Nice to see some of the bigger names taking a stand Quote Link to comment
Street Novelist
Tommie didn't win it in '95. that's how little the Heisman means Quote Link to comment

Captain K
No Gottlieb is the guy accountability called a douche this year. Quote Link to comment
VA Husker Fan
The Heisman's a joke because it's just for the QB of a championship contending team. The Heisman's a joke because our QB of a championship contending team didn't win. Quote Link to comment
rawhide-jr
If it's Crouch you speak of, he was the most dominant athlete that year... He was damn near the only reason we did remotely well that year on offense... A lot of people said Dorsey should have won it, but you could've plugged any immobile QB with a good arm into that system, surrounded by those athletes, and he could've done the same... Reggie Bush and Eric Crouch aside, none of the winners of the Heisman in at least the past 20 years have deserved it... Quote Link to comment

Woodson was really good, was in the last 20 years, and even beat out Ryan Leaf to boot. Quote Link to comment
cscott2win
Woodson beat Peyton Manning also. Quote Link to comment
UGAHusker
Woodson beat Peyton Manning also. I understand that Manning was second and Leaf was 3rd (and hey, Moss was 4th). More of a joke, considering how great Leaf's NFL career/life after football has been...anyone for some Adderall? Quote Link to comment
