Too Many Players On the Field

I'm new to the board but had to mention this since no one else has. Texas has 30-40 players on the field before the kick goes through the uprights. Why wasn't there an illegal participation penalty called. This should have been a 15 yard penalty making the attempt 61 yards. Go to youtube & watch the kick, pretty much as the ball is snapped, there are players & coaches on the field. By the time the ball actually goes through the uprights, there are 30-40 players/coaches on the field. This would be called at any other time during a game, it should be called at the end as well. The officials got the 1 second left correct but they clearly blew this one. Some of the players even run right past the sideline official. The Big 12 can't dispute this like they can the 1 second. Where is the outrage at this game changing non-call????

It's Texas and it's money. They want a Big12 rep in the championship, especially one who can generate the dolla dolla bills like Texas can. It's all bullsh#t and even now thinking about that game is like having a piece of my soul shattered.

They weren't going to affect the play, so no one cared. I wouldn't want to count UT guys Saturday vs NU guys on the last play of the Alamo against Michigan.

Illegal Participation might not be the right penalty, but too many players on the field or something? Regardless of whether or not they are participating in the play, you can't have players & coaches on the field during a live play. I know that it didn't affect the play, but it would have been called at any other point in the game so it should be called at the end as well. The rules don't change for the last minute of play.

 

& to the earlier reply, you are correct that we are now even for the Michigan game. I would prefer a BIG 12 Championship though over an Alamo Bowl victory during the Callahan era???

from what i witnessed, the rules change during the last minute of play when texas can potentially benefit, because the basic rules and common practices of time keeping were thrown out so that texas could have one more shot. i would have loved to see them call that on texas but that would likely mean taking away a win from mack brown, something you'll never see

Because the BCS would not allow such a penalty. Don't you know they control everything that goes on in college football. No doubt the BCS pays the refs to have the games end the right way for them...
