Spring game sellout?

It’s a possibility—having Memorial Stadium full for the spring game. Husker fans have always been zealous. But I wonder if there’s enough enthusiasm to fill the stadium?

We came close last year, but we did in fact sell it out the year before.

Nah, other schools have caught up to us. Even though Alabama and Ohio State either let people in for free or don't charge near as much, they get more people and to the outside world they trump us. That's ok though, it's still an incredibly valuable recruiting tool.

Someone over at Big Red Report said that 61k tickets have been sold so far.

I predict a sellout crowd at the spring game this year. And I believe it will be the first time we have sold out the spring game. We came close last year (77,670), and even closer in 2008 (80,149).

 

Schools like Alabamy and Ohio State can't really lay claim to having a sellout crowd since they give away their spring game tickets or "sell" them for next to nothing. At NU we actually sell the tickets instead of giving them away to bolster the numbers.

I remember way back in the 90's when the game was free and there would be 30,000 people there and you could sit any place in the stands. I miss those days.

 

HOw many of the seats are set aside for the kids that get in free to take the pledge?

30,000? Heck, I remember in the early 90s when there weren't half that number. That was only one of a few times when I sat in the West stadium.
