Zac Lee will be the starter

Recommended Posts

Don't forget the Texas game where Kunalic kicked it out of bounds on the advice of Lee.

Did Kunalic advise Lee to throw 3 picks and for 39 yards?

Did any of those picks lead to a score?

No. Therefore Lee did not cause that loss. Not to mention, Lee had a couple critical plays on the last drive that gave us a chance to even score.

The offense was bad last year but my point is that it was not all Lee's fault. Then again, some people just don't understand the concept that football is a team sport.

Wow, I honestly can't believe how much people on this board like Lee. Stunned, more like. Lee stunk it up the entire season, particularly against quality opponents, save for 2 or 3 flashes where he apparently stumbled or lucked out into some measure of success. Any success he had at QB was never due to his transcendent performance. I cringe every single time he's running around looking to pass, praying he doesn't fumble it or throw an INT, and secretly hoping that he would get his bell rung a little so ANY backup could come in. Just praying for it. I mean seriously, you're telling me that any D1 level quarterback couldn't have done what he did last season? He had the nations number 1 defense backing him up and the best our offense could muster with him at the helm was 12 points against a UT defense that gave up like 40 against a much overhyped alabama team(but I digress). Its not like Lee didn't have a million cracks at getting ball down the field, but terrible throw after terrible throw basically made the coaching staff determine that, rather than replacing a guy that clearly was over his head and couldn't get it done, they should simply avoid using the quarterback in any meaningful way whatsoever. What a total failure. This staff had better figure which of the other guys on the team can get it at least 1/2 way done, or NU is in some deep doo-doo. Lee is destined to start self destructing any moment, and by what i observed watching every snap of every game last season, it's only sheer luck that he didn't toss 30 interceptions last year. And that goes for every single Husker fan I actually know and watch games with.

What's with the short memory?

Didn't you people see his awful passes against VT? i mean has he EVER looked good throwing the ball? when has he ever delivered a pass that was impressive in any way? The few TD passes he did manage, the receivers were waiting for the ball, or the thing was wobbling around, off target so bad that the DB had no chance of getting to it if he wasn't looking back.

His mechanics are awful, he's slow of foot, he clearly lacks confidence and/or the guts + brawn to stick his helmet in somebody's chest and make them regret it.

NOTE TO UNL AD: PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FORCE WATSON TO START SOMEBODY BESIDES LEE. If we would have done this last season we'd already have an experienced starter with the tools to win games for us, rather than offensively limp along with an empty uniform behind center, keeping our fingers crossed that he doesn't blow it.

Re-evaluate, husker nation.

How about the Bowl game, I can't understand why there are so many people who think they are better at evaluating talent than the coaching staff. The coach's say Zac has the tools to get the job done. They watch him every day in practice we've seen him play in 13 games.

I just love this conversation.

The offense was effective against the Sun Belt teams. How did the Huskers go from effective to inept? Was it really the talent gap? I know Baylor and Iowa State aren't Sun Belt teams, but shouldn't we have been able to score at least 20 points against each of those teams?

We need to pinpoint when the offense really lost it's effectiveness. The VTech game is when Zac Lee got injured. The O-line was basically a shiite pile the entire season. Two of the returning WR's from '08 collectively crapped their pants and got benched for what half the frickin season because they kept dropping passes.

So I would suggest that if there's any blame to put on the offense's ineffectiveness would go 1.) Injuries, 2.) Position Coaching, 3.) Inexperience, 4.) QB play.

I mean if you really thought about it, QB play hinges upon those other factors. This is a team game after all.

i can tell you that if green or martinez has started last year there would be no need for hype this year...

Yeah, right, because remember all those games that Lee won for the huskers.

I mean really, WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT LEE????? ZZZZOMG!!! Nobody else could make those perfect throws, could say "hike" and take the snap like him. Hand off the ball with such confidence. It was a thing of beauty to see him flailing around in the backfield, launching duck after duck in what could be generally considered the right direction.

Or how about all those times he made tacklers miss him in the backfield to gain a few extra seconds.

Or maybe those many times when he bulled his way through a defender to get that critical first down.

seriously, WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? WHAT DOES HE DO WELL???? WHAT HAS HE EVER DONE WELL, OR WITH CONSISTENT SUCCESS?? I submit that anybody who defends Lee or Watson for starting him in spite of his obvious inability to perform the basic functions required by the position should have their Big Red Football Fan card pulled, or at least have their status changed from "legit" to "questionable". Are you REALLY a Nebraska fan? if so, how do you justify suggesting that this fraud should be the starter?

On second thought, don't bother. There is no justification IMO aside from plain old "glass-half-full" thinking, which goes around here like a hooker on Leavenworth street.

Summary: It's at least arguable that a trained monkey could have been as effective last season.

Mod Edit - feel free to disagree, but no personal attacks, please.

Completely ignores the injury(Not that any of us actually know HOW much it affected his play), the horrible O-line in front of him, and the WR's dropping all sorts of passes. Our QB play was far down on the list of actual offensive issues last year, but you make millions coaching right? So you know better?

I say lets get this guy a job coaching college football since he obviously knows more than the real coaches.
