kansas husker
decent first quarter, but if the offese doesn't start keeping the D off th field we may loose our streak of holding teams to 21 or less. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
Not a bad 1st quarter for the offense other than the fumble. Although we kept it alive with a fake punt and a kickoff return. Gotta get some more yards on 1st and 2nd down and the defensive line needs to wake the hell up! Quote Link to comment
bdubb75
I might be in the minority a little bit but I just don't think 4 man fronts work well without blitzing somebody. Alabama runs the 4 man front (usually 1 man walking up) but they bring a lot of pressure. We seem to run a true 4-3 old school D putting our corners on islands and not sending much pressure. Sure, our 4 man front is strong but I just think the 4-3 is too easily penetrated. I agree. Let's face it. We're not the same D line as we were last year. (SUH, Turner). I'd like to see some called blitz's. we did call some blitzes. and we had receivers running wide open... I think somebody busted that play. You almost NEVER send both your safety and corner. That leaves somebody wide open like so. I think it was a safety blitz and the corner was supposed to cover the safety. Defense is all about gap control so if somebody blitzes, ideally you have somebody fill their gap. Quote Link to comment
Hercules
The run defense wasn't the problem on that drive. There were at least 2 or 3 plays with busted coverages in the secondary. We were giving them easy first downs. I disagree! When a RB scores from the 5 untouched...the run D is NOT doing their job. It was from the 2 or 3. Once you get down there, it gets pretty hard to hold them out of the endzone. We've got to fix the coverage problems we had on the last drive, that's what killed us. Quote Link to comment
