cb1954
If this table holds together and I haven't made any mistakes. It shows the completion % for past QBs (back to 1981) in their FIRST YEAR as the starting QB. At least if they had the most starts that year. Remember its not the first year they played rather the first year that they were the starter for most of the games. Prior to 2002 bowl games are not included. QB - Class - Season Comp. % Taylor Martinez - Fr - 2010 59.2 Zac Lee - Junior - 2009 58.6 Joe Ganz - Senior - 2008 67.9 Sam Keller - Senior - 2007 63.1 Zac Taylor - Junior - 2005 55.1 Joe Daily - Sophmore - 2004 49.4 Jammal Lord - Junior - 2002 46.6 Eric Crouch - Soph - 1999 51.9 Bobby Newcombe - Soph - 1998 63.3 Scott Frost - Junior - 1996 52.0 Brook Berringer - Junior - 1994 62.3 Tommie Frazier - Fr. - 1992 44.0 Keithen McCant - Senior - 1991 57.7 Mickey Joseph - Junior - 1990 43.6 Jerry Godowski - Senior 1989 52.2 Steve Taylor - Soph - 1986 41.9 Mc Cathorn Clayton - Soph - 1985 35.9 Craig Sundberg - Senior - 1984 63.1 Turner Gill - Soph. - 1981 51.6 Quote Link to comment
The Maudfather
When I first opened this thread, I was expecting more in depth statistics. Quote Link to comment
huKSer
You forgot to add deer in the headlights sacks. Of course last year's line didn't help. Quote Link to comment
n.e.husker
Keep going with this, it will be interesting to see their respective stat lines. Good start though. Quote Link to comment
Moiraine
you should add attempts Quote Link to comment
NUance
Good idea to put in their year--frosh, soph, etc. It's a huge difference to start a Rfrosh like Martinez vs. a 5th year senior like Ganz. Quote Link to comment
Joe_5700
I would also include a breakdown of in conference and non conference game stats... Quote Link to comment
knapplc
And strength of schedule, and ranks of opposing defenses. There are lots of factors that go into these stats. Quote Link to comment
NUance
This is turning into a doctoral thesis for the poor guy! Quote Link to comment
knapplc
Pshaw! I put together stat breakdowns like this all the time. It helps if you copypasta all the NCAA stats into a spreadsheet, though. Sortable stats are the way to go. Quote Link to comment
carlfense
Yeah . . . this doesn't mean much without a bit more detail. Attempts. Interceptions. TDs. Etc. Quote Link to comment
Haspula
Interesting, martinez has a pretty high completion % for a freshman Quote Link to comment

flatwaterfan
I don't think Taylor's rushing stats look right. He was a pretty good runner. Quote Link to comment
Hercules
Pretty amazing that people gave Martinez as much grief as they did when in his freshman year he had a better pass efficiency rating than juniors Zac Taylor, Sam Keller, and Zac Lee did in each of their first years as starter.
