BIG ERN
Corey Raymond has commented that Justin Blatchford and Andrew Green should see plenty of PT for the blackshirts. He has Blatchford as the #1 nickelback so far and Green competing with Evans at the other corner position. I'm still firm with my prediction that Daimion Stafford will come in and take the starting nickelback position or take over for Austin Cassidy at safety. Thoughts? Quote Link to comment
HuskerT
That article also says that Stafford is picking up the defense really quick and should be in the mix. My guess is that Stafford will be out there as soon as the coaches feel confident that he knows the D. Quote Link to comment
Husker_x
I'm more interested in what the unit will look like at the end of the noncon than the start of the season. Quote Link to comment

I think they're gonna rotate a bunch of guys to see how they handle game situations, then set the staters for the conference schedule from there. Quote Link to comment
Fuzzy
Carl Pelini said that during the non-conference schedule, do not be surprised to see up to 10 different players playing on the Defensive Line, 5 different players on the Linebackers Corps, and up to 8 different players in the secondary. bournehusker
It's awesome. Finally we are approaching the depth of the 90's on defense. These coaches are recruiting speed and Smarts and coaching it and developing it. Soon only juniors and seniors will start. We will be 4 deep at every position. Only hope offense gets there. RedDenver
I don't think Stafford is going to replace Cassidy. The other safety spot maybe, but much like O'Hanlon, Cassidy hangs onto that starting spot. Quote Link to comment
zoogs
We should be very good at safety if Stafford steps up. Let's not forget how solid Osborne/Cassidy where, and PJ Smith we have coming back from injury, too. Quote Link to comment

My guess is that Osborne and Smith will have a huge impact in the secondary...and on the QB... Quote Link to comment
