The Maudfather
Guys, My girlfriend and I just got our tickets to the opener last week! We're driving up from Oklahoma on Friday and staying two nights in Omaha. I've been to a handful of games before, but I've usually left right after the game. I'm going to be in Nebraska for a few days, so I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions on where to go after the game? Bars? Restaurants? Or just anything to do in Lincoln? Also, anyone on here having a tailgate they wouldn't mind a couple of husker fans crashing? Quote Link to comment
Blackshirt316
Friday Night if you are gonna head down to Lincoln hit up O Street. If you're staying in Omaha on Friday night there's lots to do depending on budget/age/interests - you can also head across the river to the casino's if so inclined. While in Omaha make sure you hit up the old market for sure though. Here's a website that gives some things to do in the district. http://www.oldmarket.com/ Quote Link to comment
knapplc
Tell us where you're staying in Omaha and we can give you better tips. It's tolerable to drive all over the city in a day, but I wouldn't recommend it. Also, if you're staying in Omaha I would recommend coming to Lincoln pretty early in the AM, like 9am or so, to avoid traffic delays on I-80. Quote Link to comment

Chaddyboxer
Hey guys, quick question since were discussing this topic. Are there plenty of parking garages off of O Street!? I remember going to last years Idaho game, but I can't remember what street we were parked on. ha. We are prob going to hit L-town about 11 or so for the opener and then hit up BW's on 13th and P. Are there any parking garages around that area? I bet there is, but I wanted to ask the Lincoln experts around here. Thanks! Quote Link to comment

The Maudfather
Is this your first time in Omaha? First time in a long time. I grew in Council Bluffs, so I've been to Omaha quite a bit as a kid, but I haven't been there in about 10 years. Quote Link to comment

Both La Quinta Inns are along 680, so you're within striking distance of downtown/the Old Market for food and entertainment options. Not a lot has changed down there in ten years, with the exception of the Qwest Center (or whatever they call it now) and the ballpark, but that's all north of 480. Downtown is the same as you remember. Quote Link to comment
GMoose
A good tailgate (before the game) will be at the house right at the end of the bridge, across the the street from the gas station. There'll be a giant Husker N on the roof, can't miss it. We know how to tailgate, stop by. edit: ask for Grant. I still catch flack from my friends when knapplc came to our tailgate and asked for 'gmoose' 1 Quote Link to comment

Cornhusker-N-Texas
Sidetracks is an absolute requirement if you want the "Lincoln Husker experience", Of course you have to be there the night before the game for that. After the game, Barry's is always a good choice. Lots of local celebrities/press and such in there. Quote Link to comment
