Is Mike'l Severe feeling ok? Burkhead vs. Ball

Recommended Posts

When I look at Ball I am not wowed at all. Would I take him over Burkhead, probably but it would be close. Plug a guy like LP into Ball's position this year behind the same offensive line, the same fluff non-conference schedule and give him an extra game to play in(championship game) and he's probably got over 2000 yds and an equal number of TDs at least. I'm not wowed by any running backs this year. Honestly I'd have a hard time deciding between Ball, Richardson, Burkead or a number of other backs. I'd probably go with Richardson just because he's a physical speciman and could win you a lot of games in the Big 10.

Saying White is better than Burkhead is just silly. The Heisman results tonight will reflect the fact that Ball's season isn't as great as you think it is. I'd be shocked if he doesn't finish 5th in the voting.

1. Fluff non schedule? As far as defenses go NU and UW faced teams of pretty much the same caliber.

2. It's far from silly. Ball is better than Burkhead in every statistic worth measuring.

I said White. You said "Hell I'd take White over Rex." I still think that's silly.

Oh my bad but yes that is my opinion just from seeing his Freshman year. (+1000 yards and 14TD's as second stringer)

One more thing, I know Ball at best will finish fourth in the Heisman voting, I'm not completely delusional. He shouldn't win the Heisman given RG3's year but whenever somebody comes within a touchdown of Sanders' record he should at least win the Walker.

By stating White's stats as a backup you are kinda supporting everyone else's point about Wisky's offensive line being like an NFL line compared to ours.

Wow. You guys are still arguing about this.

Badger is, understandably loyal to Montee Ball. Husker fans are, understandably, loyal to Rex Burkhead.

I could easily see this conversation lasting another month. Loyalty is a strong motivator.

The unstoppable force meets the immovable object!

And boom goes the dynamite. ;)

I wouldnt rate Burkhead in the top 10 of Nebraska RB history. He probably rate in the top 5 of the last decade which is more of a sad statement of the last ten years then anything else. chuckleshuffle

Hard to say that given the offensive line he's worked behind. There's a lot of okay backs we've had over the years that looked really good due to running behind stud offensive lines(just like Montee Ball). Calvin Jones, Ken Clark, Derek Brown, Leotis Flowers, etc. etc. etc. But you could tell the difference between a freshman Lawrence Philips vs. Calvin Jones when they'd play in the same game.

Mike'l Severe on Unsportsmanlike Conduct just said that he thought that Montee Ball was WAAAAYYY better then Burkhead (This was after Sipple suggested he wasn't). Montee Ball had that 30+ TDs, but a lot of those were from the goal-line. Like McKweon tweeted a week or so ago. Ball did nothing (Goal-line TDs), that 20 other backs in the country couldn't do. You give me a choice between Ball, and Burkhead. Give me Burkhead everytime.

Its his job to rile people up and be a contrarian. Just like its knapplc's job to administrate this forum and wash my car every other tuesday.

Don't have time to wash your car. I'm off riding the waves in your motorboat. ;)

You motor boating sun of a gun. You ole sailor you.

My question is: is it built for speed or for comfort?

Badgerfan,

I respect you. You are loyal to Ball, as we are loyal to Burkhead. Ball is a great RB. He is probably better than Burkhead. He also has the stats to back it up. I'm trying to be the voice of reason here. Ball has the benefit of a great, great O-Line. He also has an outrageous number of TD's (38). Gotta say, Ball is better than Burkhead, and to argue otherwise is very, very foolish.

Anyhow I think there's something we can all agree on; Trent Richardson is better than both of them.
