2012 Election Night Containment Thread

Well, early results should start coming in pretty soon and by the end of the night we miiiiight know who our next president is. Not to mention that there are numerous congressional seats up for grabs, and of course a lot of local positions as well.

 

Thought we could use a kind of catch-all thread for discussion tonight. Facebook is already unbearable. Ugh.

Take a drink if…

• The phrase “Swing states” is mentioned.
  
• Someone says, "It's going to be a long night"
  
• “Exit polls” are mentioned.
  
• “Early results” is mentioned.
  
• “Hurricane Sandy” is mentioned.
  
• “Record turnout” is mentioned.
  
• “Youth vote” is mentioned.
  
• “Latino vote” is mentioned.
  
• “Recession” is mentioned.
  
• The phrase “provisional ballots” is mentioned.
  
• The 2008 election is mentioned.
  
• A hologram appears on the screen.
  
• A candidate’s family members are shown on camera.
  
• Every time they cut to a reporter at Obama’s Chicago election party or Romney’s Boston party.
  
• Every time your candidate loses a state.
  
• Every time Anderson Cooper makes a bad joke

CNN Projections have Romney up by a score of 8 electoral votes to 3. Really interesting decision by Romney to go for 2 after that first touchdown.

The "lead" will probably swing several times based on when the polls close. Especially with California being one of the late poll closing and biggest pickup for Obama. California will likely be between 15% to 20% of Obama's total for the night so that will give him a huge "jump" when the polls close there.

probably gonna be a landslide. Fine by me, I bet a bunch on Obama outright (-365 or something) and some on Obama at 299.5+ electoral votes (+120)

Obama leading in Florida and is stomping Ohio right now. But Ohio's returns have mainly been from urban areas
