Looks like the folding chair isn't quite done yet. He had a good Saturday. But I'll be surprised if he hangs around today.

Pretty sick that Lingmerth, Stenson, and Sergio all managed to avoid being paired with Tiger. First-in-last-out rule is weird.

 

(I mention this because being paired with Tiger historically sucks, due to both a bit more pressure than normal but mostly due to the massive crowds that provide constant distraction. Most players aren't used to that; Tiger is.)

Tiger is on a mission, boys.

 

He is getting better and better every time he tees it up. A few times this year he won it with the putter. This week, he was 38th in putting. He has won 4/6 events and hasn't had his true A-game with both ballstriking and putter.

 

Merion is short, target golf. Unless someone absolutely goes off and has a career weekend, I think TW gets #15.

Agree. Merion sets up extremely well for Tiger in the sense that he can just hit 5-wood and 3-iron all day off the tee. He's able to work it both ways now, his wedge game is strong, and he leads the tour on putting. Jeez that's a lot of superlatives. He's 4 for 7 on the year and probably played well enough to win the Masters, with the exception of one unlucky strike of the flagstick. Dude is humming on all cylinders.

 

We're likely to see him next at The Memorial - a tournament that he won last year and has won 5 times in total, followed by the US Open 2 weeks later. He could be poised for a historic run. We'll have to see.

Good catch, tschu. I meant 4 of the last 6, not 4 of 6.

 

This year is rivaling 2008 which he had shortened to injury. His swing looks "tight." No spare moving parts. His misses are so much smaller. His start-lines are closer to target. It is awesome to watch.

He actually struggled with his approach shots today but his distance was perfect - he was pin-high several times but missed pretty badly left or right on several and still managed to post a good score. Could easily have been 4-5 strokes better - of course, most everyone could say that but if Tiger is winning with his "A-" or maybe even "B" game, watch out as he continues to put it all together.

He actually struck the ball pretty darn well today. He said as much. It is all about knowing where to miss, he only missed in the wrong spot once all weekend (#15 today). That is "golfing your ball" very well.
