Nice observation from McKewon:

 

A final note on teaching: No matter how loudly or softly Pelini makes a point with a player — and we know Bo's no shrinking violet — he usually punctuates it with a tap on the helmet. That “stick with it” tap is often followed with praise a few plays later. It works.

Nice point. Reminds me of Aflava against Illinois. Missed a play, got his butt chewed, couple plays later, he made a big play.

That is obviously a stock image as it doesn't look 20 years old and thus we would never use it.

I'm curious if we get some newer balls this year. I wonder if that was a Martinez thing (dang, broke my own rule) and if the new set of QBs have different preferences.

 

 

I am about 90% certain that the balls we have been using weren't "old", just extremely worn. They have buffers or sanders to wear down new balls straight out of the package and different quarterbacks like their footballs to feel different ways.

 

But it's not just a Martinez thing. Zac Taylor liked his footballs worn like that too. Looks like Zac Lee did as well:
