husker rob
you forgot Patrick in your line-up. After the way he played in the final 3 games he is well on his way to being a starter next year. He was just a Soph last year right? Quote Link to comment
hoyamannn
Considering Christenson was probably considered our best lineman before he went down and favored to beat out Austin, I'd imagine him getting one of the starting positions as long as he's completely healthy. Quote Link to comment
Jarred04
Although i am biased (i went to school with andy), i do agree that andy could easily pull a starting job. He'll be back strong for us, and i hope he gets a chance to start. Either way i don't mind competition becasue that means we have strong back ups. Quote Link to comment
TheKiD
This will be pretty tough to predict right now.. We've got a lot of guys competing for spots in the off-season. Murtha, Austin, and Mann are pretty much locks. Outside of them, I like Nicks and Christiensen. Quote Link to comment
StuckinChicago
disagree about murtha, while more talented than patrick, being bigger and faster, he also didnt have the plays learned half way through last year, even though he had been on campus for a year and a half. I know a few of the offensive lineman, and the consensus opinion of Lydon is not all that great. he is in no way a lock right now.... Quote Link to comment
benjibean1
you also have to keep in mind all the JUCO's that they are bringin in. That has to account for something. Quote Link to comment
StuckinChicago
What about mike huff? Quote Link to comment
NU fan in Denver
What about Jordon Picou? Isn't he a tackle? Just another possibility to play and provide valuable depth. He has a year in the system now, so hopefully he has a good understanding of the offense. Quote Link to comment
hoyamannn
Austin is in no way a lock, the guy is not 100% and never will be. Quote Link to comment
Jarred04
exactly, that poor man can barely walk up stairs. I feel bad for him. he is such a competitor, but if he gets beat out, i understand why. Quote Link to comment
BigWillie
LT - Chris Patrick LG - Andy Christensen C - Kurt Mann RG - Matt Slauson RT - Lydon Murtha I personally believe Patrick might be better at guard, but it has been long rumored that Slauson would be moving to guard next year. I'd expect a dogfight between Roark and Mann for the center position, but Mann wins out thanks to seniority. Expect Roark will probably get significant snaps. Quote Link to comment
Roy CO HSKR
Thre coaches started Patrick over Murtha at the end of the year. Also, Austin has a permanent knee injury limiting him to about 85%. Although the OL is a priority, the IB/FB position must block in place of a decent job by Ross. This is another reason to put Lucky in a split/wing back postion with Todd/Glenn in protection. Huskrz65
Do you think any coaches or players read this board and take onboard anything from what our general consensus might advise? (I am not limiting it to this thread either.) Quote Link to comment
HANC
I would assume that a few current and future Huskers read this board... this is why I absolutely dislike some of the negativity towards the programs and sometimes players... As a coach, I would say that likely no coach reads this board or really cares what "our" opinion is..... can't blame them either....if we knew as much as they did, we would be on a college practice field somewhere instead of sitting at a computer.... As far as the OL is concerned..... LT: Murtha LG: Patrick C: Mann RG: Austin RT: Slauson or Pastuer * I look for Pastuer to be a force to be reckoned with this season.... * As stated in an earlier post, Patrick seems to be better suited to play G than the others, so I have slated him in there.... but maybe he sticks at T and rotates or starts in front of Murtha..
