Cowboys sign La'el Collins to deal

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys have reached a deal with undrafted free-agent offensive lineman La'el Collins, the team said Thursday.

The Cowboys fully guaranteed the three-year, $1.65 million deal, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

After meeting with Collins on Wednesday night at Jerry Jones' Highland Park home, the Cowboys were able to come to the agreement on Thursday.

Collins was viewed as a first-round pick entering last week's draft, but went undrafted when his name was linked to an investigation into the murder of his pregnant former girlfriend.

Wow. I wonder if they have a clause about the investigation, and possible murder? What if he escapes prosecution due to a technicality? Would they want a guy like that on their team if they thought he'd killed his girlfriend? OTOH, Ray Lewis. :dunno

I don't think he's going to have any issues, really:

Here's what almost every sports fan in the country knows about former LSU offensive tackle La'el Collins: The 21-year-old has been questioned by police in Louisiana regarding the shooting death of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Brittney Mills.

Most of us also know that Collins hasn't been implicated or called a suspect in the death of Mills or her child, who died one week after the mother was fatally shot.

Those following the unreal story are also probably aware of the fact a paternity test indicates Collins wasn't the father of the child Mills was carrying when shot and that Collins reportedly passed a polygraph test in connection with the case, according to ESPN's Josina Anderson.

Jags lose Fowler with torn ACL in his very first practice. Broncos lose their 3rd round draft pick to a torn ACL yesterday. Damn bad start to the rookie camps. Denver needed help at TE big time too. Kubiak uses the hell out of his TE's. I guess Owen Daniels is really going to have to step up big this year.
