The Wildcats are led by second-year coach Chris Collins, who spent 13 seasons at Duke under Hall of Fame Coach Mike Krzyzewski before taking the Northwestern job prior to the 2013-14 season. The Wildcats went 14-19 last year, including wins at Indiana and Wisconsin. Northwestern has been streaky at times during the season with four and five-game win streaks along with three and seven-game losing streaks. The Wildcats have battled in Big Ten play, as six of their eight games have been decided by five points or less or in overtime. The Wildcats lone victory in Big Ten play was a 51-47 win at Rutgers on Dec. 31. Freshman Bryant McIntosh has emerged as one of the Big Ten’s best freshmen, as he leads the Wildcats in scoring (12.7 ppg) and assists (4.5 apg), while shooting nearly 40 percent from 3-point range. Tre Demps gives the Wildcats another scorer, as he averages 12.1 points per game and has hit a team-high 32 3-pointers. Alex Olah is a force in the middle with 10.7 points per game and a team-high 6.7 rebounds per game, while ranking fifth in blocked shots (1.7 bpg). 1 Quote Link to comment
Comish
Too obvious to even include the MUST WIN designation...............but if they don't, I could see this season quickly deteriorating into a total free fall disaster......(not that it isn't already on the cliff). The DO still have a shot at righting things with a W tonight and at PSU on Saturday before getting a crack at Wisky next week.............but given our offensive impotence, that is a TALL order..... GBR............. Quote Link to comment
Mavric
World-Herald Big Red @OWHbigred 10h10 hours ago It's #Nebrasketball game day! NU's aim? Cash in against struggling foes. Preview: http://bit.ly/1KmmDTB Quote Link to comment
Mavric
We SHOULD win this game. They are the worst team in the conference at 1-7 and their only win is the next-worst team (Rutgers) and they've lost seven in a row since then. At home - we get this done. Quote Link to comment
teachercd
Pros: Home game Cons: NW with a long losing streak...they are bound to snap it sometime. Line: -6 I think the line tells us more about this game than any other bit of information. I want to predict a Husker loss BUT I think NU wins this one with ease..53-39...wait for it...with NW leading at the half. Quote Link to comment
B.B. Hemingway
You have to wonder about this team's confidence right now.... A fast start would nice, and may be necessary.... Quote Link to comment
