RPI - Rise to the Top

Recommended Posts

Can someone remind me what RPI stands for and what it means in layman's terms?

The Rating Percentage Index, commonly known as the RPI, is a quantity used to rank sports teams based upon a team's wins and losses and its strength of schedule.

Thank you.

Strength of schedule is tough in baseball until half way through the season. Several teams every year are ranked high and don't play to their anticipated level.
