I don't see you have many options on the Repub side--they're all pretty much carbon copies of each other, offering up the same ol' same ol' Repub schpeel, trickle down, yada yada yada, and they're endless failed attacks abortion rights.

Kasich and Graham are both fairly moderate on economic issues, but neither have a chance of being nominated.

Graham is done. The guy must be getting big $ from defense lobbyist as his platform is totally about "boots on the ground" in the mideast. He's done though, probably drop out soon. Kasich, not much chance either, maybe VP I guess, if he sticks it out. He's a Wall St. guy, and not a "good one":

Ohio Gov. John Kasich loves talking about his record in office, his knack for balancing the budget and his controversial decision to back Medicaid expansion.

But there's one part of his resume he's less inclined to discuss: the years he spent as a senior executive at Lehman Brothers.

Kasich joined Lehman's investment banking division as managing director in 2001, working there until the firm's collapse in September 2008 unleashed global panic and served as the catalyst for the financial crisis.

The Republican governor's past work at arguably the most deeply vilified Wall Street firm -- so despised that in the aftermath of the crisis, some people referred to the bank simply as the "L word" -- is likely to serve as rich fodder for political attacks if Kasich were to become a serious contender for the GOP's presidential nomination. http://www.cnn.com/2015/06/08/politics/john-kasich-2016-lehman-brothers-wall-street/

Bush is the Establishment/RNC guy, the Bush family with decades worth of broad and deep ties within the business, political, and CIA world. He's their boy, however "meh" he's doing.t Trump has put a wrench into their plans. The RNC keeps hoping one of the others will trip up Trump: 1st Bush, then Carson, now Fiona, but nothing's working so far. I still think it will unfold, though, that Bush ends up on top--he's got plenty of $ backing him. Carson, Fiona, and most others will fade out through lack of $ and poll #s. Rubio will be one of the main contenders throughout, though, along with Bush and Trump. Maybe Christie too.

1. He will create a progressive estate tax on the top 0.3 percent of Americans who inherit more than $3.5 million. He will also enact a tax on Wall Street speculators...

https://berniesanders.com/issues/income-and-wealth-inequality/

As to income tax, it appears he hasn't completed his tax proposal, but he looks to be focusing on the top marginal bracket of > ~$400K from what is now ~39% to up around 50%:

Sanders said he is "working right now on a comprehensive tax package, which I suspect will, for the top marginal rates, go over 50 percent," though he wouldn't endorse a specific rate yet. He often points out that the top marginal rate exceeded 90 percent under Republican President Dwight D. Eisenhower. http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-06-11/bernie-sanders-eyes-top-tax-rate-of-more-than-50-percent

No thanks.

What is that post supposed to mean?

Levity? It's a dog that looks like Trump.

If nothing else, if you want to save social security for yourself or anyone close to you, you probably have to go Dem, because the Repubs want to gut that thing.

So, I'm supposed to like Sander's policies because you believe we don't have any other option?

Ummmm....no thanks.

Well, Hillary is far superior to any of the Repubs, that is, if you like anything that has to do with democratic policy. But it sounds like you are a Repub type guy and I think it's going to be Bush and Trump as the top dogs there. Expect more war from the Repub side, regardless.

I'm remaining as open minded as I can. But, ol' Bernie just isn't doing it for me. Sorry, can't support a lot of what he has been spewing. Seems like the same ol same ol tired liberal crap of hate the rich. Go get their money and give it to everyone else. Sorry, I am not one of the "1%" and I don't need their money to be redistributed to me.

I'm not to the point of actually supporting anyone. But, I'm mostly interested in hearing what either Carson or Fiorina has to say.

If it comes down to Sanders and Trump, I might just have to move to Puerto Rico for 4-8 years. If it's Sanders and Bush, I would prefer to live with Bush even though that thought doesn't excite me.

Carson won't make it. I think he's surgically seperated himself from his own brain. Fiorina won't make it, too many skeletons, and she lost in a landslide out west to B Boxer, no way she could beat any Dem if she got there, which she won't.

As to Bernie, well, the top end $ people he's going after basically are getting a free ride in America as regards to taxes and what he's proposing is barely a drop in the bucket to them. They don't want to pay anything, though.

I must say, this is quite possibly the strangest set of front runners for President I have ever witnessed. I'm not necessarily saying it's bad....(well, some are, but there might actually be someone good come out of this group).

Trump.....town idiot. Not much else needs to be said about him. He just needs to go away. Raises serious issues and doesn't have a filter but has no tact and wouldn't trust him farther than I could see him...Nope

Sanders.....Admitted socialist that looks more like some mad scientist that crawled out of his basement to show the world what he has discovered. I do like how he must now be spending money on someone actually combing his hair. Colonel Sanders looks more Presidential than Bernie Sanders. Like some of his ideas in principle but takes most of them too far to socialism...Nope

Fiorina.....Definately looks the part of a President but has absolutely no political back ground or experience. Definitely has experience running a large organization into the ground...Nope

Clinton.....Well, that name alone makes me not interested but she is definitely the most polished politician in the group....not necessarily a good thing. She obviously is good at saying all the right things to get her base frothing at the mouth...As stated, name alone is enough, not to mention the crap she spews...Nope

Carson.....Definitely successful at bringing himself out of poverty as a kid. Looks Presidential and is very smart. Not much of a ball of fire in front of people in debates...Not sold but out of this list, definitely the most realistic candidate for me

Surely someone is going to come out of this group and show me they deserve to be President and can do the job. But, this group definitely is different than any other Presidential election candidates.

Your assessment of the candidates are fairly close to mine. I'm more willing to give Fiorina more of a chance. You say she ran HP into the ground but at the same time, there was a huge tech bubble that occurred that had something to do with that. Anyway, I'm willing to give her a chance.

I like Carson and he obviously is someone who is extremely impressive. I'm just not at the point that I'm wiling to say he is "my guy" yet.....well, I'm not willing to say that about anyone.

There is one thing that absolutely makes me happy in all of this. The three leaders in the Republican party have never held public office before. That tells me the people want change and Republicans are at least willing to look outside of Washington for that change.

Which has made the GOP into a running joke. When your primaries are run by the fringe lunatics of your party, you're not going to get your most successful candidates in front of the moderate American voters.

Moderate Republicans would do well to ditch the current-state GOP and form their own party. I think they'd find as long as they're moderate and rational, they'll draw a lot more support and be more influential than their old party.

Of course, this is easier said than done...especially since one of the few things both parties have agreed upon over the decades is how to make it obscenely difficult for a viable third party to come onto the political scene.

+1 I'm a liberal democrat from Nebraska. That said, in a general election, if my choices were Sanders vs. Kasich; I'd vote for the Republican Kasich. Sadly I won't get that chance. The system needs some kind of tuning.

edit: Kasich has some "extreme" views as far as talking points go. That's just it, just "talking points". I like his realistic views on conservatism and the United States place in the world.

Well, didn't see this comment coming.

So, he goes to a Clinton fundraiser with his wife. He then declares he is running for President then he comes outing says "Carson is the most brilliant guy".

Interesting.

I've never heard even one Kanye "song", probably never will either. I prefer music, haha...

Well, when I read that I had to chuckle while thinking....."Dude, you would think my cat is a....brilliant guy".

I would say Carson is brilliant when it comes to neurosurgery. Politics? Not so much. I just hope he doesn't ruin his life's legacy--his good name--by getting totally beat up in a political campaign.

As to Kanye, I'm a little surprised he isn't leaning to the left, but I guess when you are a millionaire you don't lean to the left. But like I said, I've never been in the Kanye loop.

I'm pretty sure Carson will be just fine and I'm also sure he is appreciative of your concerns.

LOL.....yeah....all millionaires in Hollywood are so right leaning. Psssssst.....there are people from both political perspectives in every economic class.

Regarding Fiorina, I would direct you to this article and would be curious to see if your opinion changes: http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/09/carly-fiorina-ceo-jeffrey-sonnenfeld-2016-213163

I do have concern regarding how religious Carson is. I have no problem with someone being religious but if your beliefs get in the way of the constitution and the law, well that's not gonna fly.
