Warrior10
I was just about to post something in the 2018 thread. As pivotal and as much we talked it up on Missouri we aren't doing jack. I'm not sure there will be another year of 500 mile talent like we have this year. And we've only got 1 kid from the state on campus or that is very interested. As happy as I was/am with the weekend the lack of Missouri talent we attracted was/is a huge negative to me. To be fair, you can say there weren't as many MO players at the Spring Game as you would have liked, but the "they aren't doing jack" is something you just don't know. We have no clue what the staff and the current players do day in and day out to recruit ... can't judge their activity solely by whether a kid shows up at a Easter weekend game. This is fair. Wording was bad there. Quote Link to comment
Warrior10
However, we still went from "St. Louis we're coming for your a$$." To not having a single visitor from St. Louis on a big, maybe the biggest recruiting weekend in program history. Quote Link to comment
ADS
Maybe other things came up and the kids couldn't travel this weekend. It was Easter after all. Quote Link to comment

To not having a single visitor from St. Louis on a big, maybe the biggest recruiting weekend in program history. We don't know what the issues around that were. Could be that they couldn't find a ride? I doubt the staff isn't trying to recruit the STL area. Quote Link to comment
Red Five
Going on a tangent, but this brings up an interesting question for when official visits are allowed in the spring. How many officials do you use on guys in the spring/summer? Do you only give officials to guys who are top tier candidates? Only outside of some distance away? Do you want to hold back officials for actual game weekends? Speaking of the StL guys, do you official all of them together? Some of them (thereby creating a pecking order in their minds)? 1 Quote Link to comment

Ronnie Perkins tweeted last Sunday that he was going to be at the game, so that would lead me to believe that he had a trip set up? So something happened. But on the other hand, these are 16/17 year old kids. I'm guessing a lot of them are saying things to make people happy. They probably don't understand everything that goes into making a trip that big? Quote Link to comment
ScottyIce
Maybe other things came up and the kids couldn't travel this weekend. It was Easter after all. Word was that travel arrangements fell through. Who knows exactly. But yes, it was Easter weekend. I couldn't believe the list we had considering. Quote Link to comment

I'm not trying to be critical of the staff, was just disappointed in the lack of Missouri guys on campus for the big event. But there are valid reasons and it's early. Heck, Easter kept me away....I'm still salty about that. One positive spin is it will probably be easier to get them on campus for FNL events then some other guys. Hopefully we can replicate the hype/momentum. Quote Link to comment

But, you and I both said we knew there would be a percentage of guys who didn't make it even though they said they were on the list. Like you said, it's better that the long distance guys made it this weekend. Hopefully it'll be a short trip to Lincoln in a couple weeks or in June for FNL. Either way, I think it's a no doubter that some STL guys take an OV. Still think we might get Babb for one, at least out of respect for his buddy, Bryant. Quote Link to comment

Supposedly we are going to hit in hard during the upcoming eval period. Babb ship I think has sailed to OSU. Perkins, Thompson and Carson are my 3 wants from the state (not counting Goodrich because I think he's already N). And probably all 3 are in my top 5 for the rest of the class. Quote Link to comment
MinnwiscowaSker
It'd be interesting to know how many guys didn't come because it was Easter, and how many did because it was Easter and they had Good Friday off of school. I'm sure McShane's got a feel for that. Next year Easter is April 1 so I doubt it comes into play. Quote Link to comment

There was an ACT test on April 8, which would limit the number of kids you could get to campus. So they could have either gone early with April 1 or this coming week with April 22. Or do what Indiana did and have it on a Thursday night... 1 Quote Link to comment
