There was a Denver Post article back in Feb in which Hickenlooper states he will not run.

Won't he be 95 then? :P The Dems need a younger face. I heard the other day that their congressional leadership average age is 76. Sounds like all of those Soviet leaders that kept dying off turning Reagan's first term. He could never get a chance tp negotiate wt anyone - they kept dying off of old age. Kremlin finally got smart and elected a young guy - the rest is history.

Sanders will be 78, Biden will be 74, and Warren will be 71. Those look like the most likely 3 years out, so an older set of candidates is likely.

I think we can all agree that what America really wants/needs is a rerun of the last election's candidates.

Sanders at least still remains very popular. Biden would at least be different from the last campaign. But if Clinton runs again... I'm not sure exactly what I'll do, but I'll be super depressed/angry.

If the Dems put out all these people in their 70s that have been hanging around the Presidential elections for a while, they are doomed to let Trump just be here for another 4 years.

I'm fine with Sanders, Biden and Warren running. But, they need some younger people in the race too to give their voters some options.

Warren is the only one I can see in any of this that might be able to run in her 70s and garner enough votes to win.

Good Lord...if they march Hillary up there again.......they deserve to be relegated to the "Also Ran" heap.

Why do you think Warren could win, but Biden and Sanders could not?

Biden has already been involved in the White House for 8 years and I think there is some fatigue with him.

Sanders is loved by his fans. There are some who could vote for him. But, there are one hell of a lot of people in the US that just view him as a loony toon old man who supports socialism.

Warren has been working hard in congress to support various liberal agendas. I think she could be packaged in a campaign as someone who is strong for the working class and women but not the crazy grandpa someone pulled out of the basement.

In order of chances of winning, I would put it as:

Warren

Biden

Sanders.

But, I think a charismatic younger person who is articulate and passionate for the liberal agenda would do better for the Democrats.

Not to mention the fact that Bernie will be 79 in 2020. People won't vote for him at that age whether he can do the job or not.

I doubt Bernie has his eyes on the presidency. He might run, but with the same motive of pushing his ideas.

You could be right, but that's not a foregone conclusion. The link I gave above discusses how older candidates aren't facing much backlash over their age.

You may be right, but Bernie is the most popular politician in the country according to polls from a few months ago. So there may be a lot who don't like him, but his net favorability is 25% (57%-32%), so a lot more have a favorable view than an unfavorable one.

It would certainly be nice to see some new faces across the board.

If the Dem party has any hope of reinventing itself and rebuilding - it has to go wt a younger set of candidates. They have to also get away from old has beens - in Clinton and Biden. Bernie at this point should be about the "movement" and not about him - thus he should prepare someone to take his issues before the people. While Warren would be consider a "movement' candidate - I see her age becoming an issue long term as well. (How ironic from a guy who wished Reagan could have ran a 3rd time!!). The reason I say this is that the Repubs have a large group of younger potential candidates for 2020 (If Trump can't run for a whole host of reasons or if he is opposed within the party- my hope ) and 2024. The 3 Amigos - Cruz, Rubio and Paul from the last primary season, plus Pence, Paul Ryan come quickly to mind. Plus I could come up wt a dozen others from Congress & Governorships, not to mention a few business types following the Trump roadmap.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but what does a younger presidential candidate really do for either party in 2020?
