The Big 10 Football Political Conspiracy

Recommended Posts

I am putting them here because I know it will trigger people on this board.  So lets try to deal with the information provided via hyperlinks, instead of bashing the news site ad hominem as "far right" blah blah blah.  It is no coincidence that a large part of Big 10 schools come from blue states.  It definitely is a topic for conversation regardless of what side of the aisle you are.  College sports was supposed to be one of the last remaining entertaining things to do, without religion and politics shoved down peoples throat.  Regardless, I hope Nebraska does something.  It sucks being held hostage.

"Michigan is reportedly supposed to be one of the six schools involved in this plan, but Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, architect of one of the most severe COVID-19 lockdowns in the nation, is allegedly opposed to football in the state as things stand now.

“I also was also told that one roadblock to the new plan is the fact that Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has been vehemently opposed to football being played—at the high school and college level – in the state this fall,” Snook reported.

Whitmer is on record in months past as saying there needs to be a widely available vaccine and mass quantities of tests available to determine when “we have some immunity built up.” The most optimistic estimates for when a vaccine might be available point to the end of the year. Michigan is still limiting indoor gatherings to 10 or fewer people, and bars are are closed for indoor service. Outdoor gatherings are limited to 100 or fewer people".

I moved out of Nebraska to Michigan earlier this year.

It feels good to have a governor that treats a public health emergency like COVID-19 seriously instead of Ricketts dragging his feet and obstructing when local governments try to address things.

Things are going generally well here with most people (with the exception of a few selfish asshats and kids who can't take anything seriously) having no problems abiding by the mask mandate and distancing guidelines.

We are not well-equipped as a nation to cope with this because we've failed to have an effective federal response guiding the states and making it a team effort. If that means no football this fall, so be it. I want to do whatever it takes so this virus doesn't stretch on for years and years prolonging the return to normal life.

Quite a number of recalls occurring up yonder.  Doesn't seem like the people of Michigan are happy with her. FWIW

Yeah I suppose there will always be those that are unhappy in such situations. A hallmark sign of a good leader is being able to do the right thing even when it's unpopular.

Mind you I say this, while rejecting the governor here in Texas.  Texans are so pissed at Governor Hot Wheels, that the Texas Governor will turn blue in 2022.  Everyone is disgusted with his status quo, establishment Republican actions.  I have been to the Alamo, Austin Governors Mansion, and at TABC in Austin protesting.  Alot of people down here saying: "that tree had one job".

Yeah right!?? Journalism used to be you refute the facts provided.  Now it's just juvenile attacks right?

Yeah what the Pundit has done (along side Jacob Wohl), making stories up to attack people they don't like. It's disgusting. They even messed with people lives by misidentifying multiple mass shooters/terrorists. The publication is a disgrace to journalism. I wouldn't even call it journalism.

I'm not super sure what's being implied in the OP, but I'm presuming the gist is that the Big Ten has canceled football as part of a political ploy. The reference to Blue States seems to imply that this is (possibly) a plot against Republicans, or maybe specifically against Trump.

It's a bit far-fetched, but as I said in the Football Forum, with the lack of information coming out of the Commissioner's office, people are going to speculate about such things. And I don't think this is as crazy a speculation as maybe some may think.

BUT. If this is some back-room political plot, it's one of the most ill-conceived I've ever seen. Jacob Wohl would find this a little laughable.

All canceling football without transparency has done is piss people off, and those pissed off people are not going to look kindly on the party that took their football away. And there's not a great path leading from Trump to No Football in their mind.

IF this is a plot, it's going to backfire.

So...let me get this straight.  One political side is taking the pandemic seriously.  The other political side has continued to call it a big hoax and cry and whine about how their poor little constitutional rights are being trampled on because they are being required to wear a mask.

NOW....the Big Ten commissioner is part of a left wing conspiracy to take down the administration by cancelling football?

Am I on the right track?

I understand your feelings.  But, every news institution gets things wrong, and right at times.  Discounting something based on feelings is cowardly in my opinion.  You have to win in the realm of arguments, and not ad hominem either.  There are bad apples everywhere.  I am specifically talking about the argument with Big 10 football not happening because of politics.

But it's ok for left wing reporters to dox people on the right side of the aisle? C'mon brother. Fair is fair.

I'm not discounting them based on feelings, I'm discounting them because they report blatant falsehoods consistently. Hell in the article you linked it says Klobuchar Boasts about urging B1G Official to shut down......watch the clip and read your own quote. Klobuchar just says she talked to the Minnesota School President, about the School President's own decision. The headline is a lie. It's untrue.

You can't ignore the fact that most of the conferences playing are in red states.  My business is Environmental, Health, and Safety Consulting.  I can tell you for a fact, that science hasn't been used like we normally have, all through this #scamdemic. There is a reason NIOSH has been EXTREMELY quite during this time too.  Deferring to other Federal bureaucracies.  I could go into all of it, but I am not trying to rehash that. The fact is the mortality rate is low enough presently, to open everything, the science isn't backing the justification of a continued shut down. FWIW IMHO
