Loebarth
It might take the entire season to develop a Sunday starter but the staff will succeed in that. Until then, just win every conference series and post season will be in the pocket. 1 Quote Link to comment
Xmas32
Agreed, if Nebraska is winning on Fridays and Saturdays I'm pretty nonplussed when it comes to Sundays. Illinois is a good hitting squad so taking 2/3 was a nice weekend. Quote Link to comment
BigRedBuster
So, it looks like there's 52 games in the season, then the B1G tourney? How many games do they have to win for you to start thinking they a contender to do something in the off season and maybe get to the CWC? 1 Quote Link to comment
Loebarth
There's currently 30 games left and if they win every series and either the mid-week game or sweep the conference foe they end up with a record of 38-14-1 (that record gets them into the post season and likely a regional host as well.) Super regional usually requires 42+ wins. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
admo
I see this team has responding very well after a rough start of the year. That's when the Skipper stopped jacking with the lineup every time something didn't go exactly right in a game. So, I am giving Bolt credit for NOT doing what he has done the last few seasons (f#&% with the lineup after a loss) and instead showing grown man coaching confidence in his best hitters at the top of the lineup. That shows maturity as a first-time head coach to get out of the way. That is also why the top guys in the order are hitting well - just by sticking with the same familiar lineup with your 1-4 hitters (your best hitters of course) and we see guys hitting 5th and 6th bringing wood too. Ball players need that confidence and hate it when a coach f#&%s around and has you leadoff one game, 9th the next, then 7th later in a week - because you might be struggling, or starting pitching matchups. Starting pitchers are never guaranteed to go more than 5 or 6, no matter how good they are. So good job to Bolt for learning and gaining that experience as Head Coach. Identify your best 1-4 hitters and don't mess with it. Quote Link to comment
