Rutgers Week

The #Huskers and Rutgers met just once, back in 1920. And Nebraska astonished "from the squeal of the first whistle." http://bit.ly/1pBSK8c

Gotham's first glimpse of the Cornhusker brand of football proved an eye-opener for the tremendous audience, and an eye-shutter for Rutgers, the New Jersey aggregation being clouted to the extent of 28 to 0, with scarcely a chance to score.

The game was watched by most of the big football members of the effete east, since the fame of Nebraska has dated back to five or six years ago when Walter Camp admitted that Vic Halligan, Guy Chamberlin and "Red" Rutherford, with the wonderful "Steamroller" of the day formed one of the greatest elevens ever known. It was conceded that Coach Schulte's team today, while lacking the speed of the old Cornhuskers, had a wonderful defense and a victorious punch, backed up by their weight and perfect condition. Interest is added to next Saturday's affair between Nebraska and the truculent Penn State bunch at State College, Pa. Since Penn State last Saturday beat Pennsylvania university, 27 to 0, and has not been whipped this season, the problem confronting Schulte may be easily imagined.
Nebraska astonished the New York spectators by the steadiness of its attack. While having little of the ... brilliancy that lighter teams display, it set solidly to work from the squeal of the first whistle, and was never in danger of defeat.

Howard, a 1-7 FCS team, ran for 259 yards on Rutgers defense. #justsayin

Over each team's last three games, Rutgers is #97 in rushing yards allowed per game at 211 per. They are #121 in yards allowed per attempt. That is against the #53 (Tulane), #60 (Michigan) and #15 (Ohio State) teams in rushing yards per game for the year. The Huskers are #5.

So expect the Huskers to come out throwing the ball.

God this can be both satirical and serious.
