  1. Bo admitting that he made a mistake in not playing some guys gives me hope. IMO, it means that they could have/should have played, but didn't. The guys we are counting on this year, were possibly ready last year, but Bo didn't pull the trigger. Same with his ST comments. He plans to get the best 11 on the field. I honestly do not see how we can be any worse. You look at our losses, the points, yardage, missed tackles etc and IMO, the guys would have to try to duplicate those disasters to be close to that bad. Hopefully not just coach speak.
  2. IMO we face 2 issues with improving the D. We need better talent. That is plainly obvious given the lack of drafted seniors as well as the opinion that this year will be a case of addition by subtraction when losing all of the seniors. Secondly, when Bo has all word talent ie Sum Gnomes, Prince, Haag, Assante etc....his D was flat out scary. When we lose this talent we get our 2 blow out losses per year. Is it talent? Is it coaching? With better talent Bo's D will work. He just needs to figure out a way to let the talent and the guys he has fit his scheme. Last year for example, no way a 260 lb Cam (feel I am adding about 20 lbs) can have success as a DT in any scheme let alone a 2 gap. Bo needs to learn to make work what he has available. Again last our DL was so porous the safeties had to play the run and pass. Good luck in any scheme with that. IMO, Bo has shown some good growth by basically admitting he blew it last year by not playing younger guys who could have helped. This season he has also installed permanent captains. Another plus IMO. On another note, look at Zaire last year out performing (IMO) veterans and he was playing with a torn ACL. Are you kidding me?! Long story short, with better talent ie speed Bo's scheme will work. I would like to see more hat on hat from the DL, but that is my preference. More attack, less read and react. see Lavonte when he was playing lights out and Bo said he was still not "playing in the system or right position. Speed and a nose for the ball covers a multitude of sins.
  3. Link the the gentleman who broke the NSA story ie the guy who called the UK. Good read. Should alarm all persons', regardless of political affiliation. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/jun/09/edward-snowden-nsa-whistleblower-surveillance
  4. Great move IMO. As Knapp said, add the blackshirts before the first game. Give them a little attitude and edge. IMO it would also enable them to "push" the other guys a little harder. Kick them in the a$$ if needed.
  5. IMO, unless we can improve in the fundamentals ie fumbles, penalties and missed tackles scheme, ability, knowledge etc mean squat. Even with our pitiful D showings last year, tackling would have greatly increased our chances to win at least one more game. This has been beaten into the ground, but fumbles put the D in some holes last year. A large percentage of points scored against us came after a fumble. Clean up basics, an upgrade in athleticism and more speed should help. This team also needs to develop some leadership and some nasty. Things that can't be taught IMO. (the previous based on my opinion only) I would like to see permanent captains, not week to week. Let guys take ownership for the whole season. Let them know that their decisions for week 1 will carry into week 2 and week 12 etc..... Set the tempo for game 1 and build on it.
  6. Although inexperienced on D, how many projected starters are true Fresh. For a lot of the guys, this will be year 2+ in the system. I am hoping that this makes up for lack of actual game experience. I also hope that the addition of speed (per opinion) can cover a multitude of miscues that we were unable to recover from last year. Until we show we can stop the run, I would expect teams to punch us in the mouth every game. The young guys in the front 7, IMO, will be well seasoned by league play.
  7. Just saw this article after you mentioned this. Sad to see how long guys are waiting. Travesty. At least both sides of the aisle agree something needs to be done. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/06/01/democrats-and-republican-in-both-chamber-press-obama-to-end-backlog-veterans/
  8. Not saying it is right, but this has actually been happening for quite a while down range. It has been part of the draw down and transition of control to Afghan counterparts not specifically to budget cuts. The first to go were hot breakfasts at some bases that started in February 2013. If we want out, we simply need to pack up and leave.
  9. I like it. Had social media been around in the 90's, I am pretty sure Peter, Wistrom etc would have called out some folks for half stepping. Hearing you are lazy form a coach is one thing, hearing a team mate say you are is a whole different level IMO. Peer pressure works. Bo has said the team has some issues, the lack of everyone giving 100% is the key. Quince saying they need to look at some of the "leaders" first is concerning. Starters not putting out, sit their a$$es on the sidelines or send em to the scout team like happened a few years ago. I liked his comments about Sat and hearing all the BS. Seems like Josh gets "it" and is trying to get the other guys to get "it" as well. Getting curbed stomped 1-2 games a year is BS. It starts up front. Time to get mean.
  10. Rex is in a spot to do very well. He has the abilities the NFL likes. Decisive, quick one step and head north, catches well, blocks well, hits the hole with authority, hard to get a solid hit etc.... He will do well if given the chance.
  11. I would like to know the reasoning for obtaining these records. Generally speaking, authorities must believe (reasonable suspicion) that the subject is involved in some type of criminal enterprise. Seems like a very broad net being cast. I am sure that any current or potential sources are now running scared. Will be interesting to see how the press responds to this intrusion. It is also interesting to read this little gem about the immigration bill. A national database will be established containing PII (personal identifying information) and photos from issued government ID's. http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Immigration-Reform-Biometric-Database/2013/05/12/id/504014 I am all for a more secure America, but not at the expense of our personal freedoms and rights. To quote Biden, "that the republic is not in jeopardy and there’s no reason for us to jettison the Constitution and erect a police state in order to protect people. The moment we change, they win.”
  12. I think Bo knows this as well. Didn't he make a comment this spring about them being "mentally soft"? Same in 2011 with Raymond saying our guys needed to get back up after getting "punched in the mouth. I have said this the past few years, our team plays well against the ropes as shown with so many comeback victories, but when "punched in the mouth" ie punt interference Michigan, Hail Mary USC, Miller's TD this year, INT against Wisky last year etc..... A straight punch to the nuts and our guys fall out. They need to get mean and get past these to win IMO. Our team has lost its swagger. Individual players, yes. Collectively no. They need to get mean. We need more nasty. Look at that video and look at guys swarming to the ball. EVERYONE wanted a piece and were pi$$ed when they didn't get some. Watched Tommie highlights on another board and saw the same thing with O. They all played with a chip on their shoulders. Mean, nasty, looking to hit guys and laying the wood. Our OL played like a DL.
  13. You're tilting at windmills. NOBODY is defending Clinton. Looking back, in retrospect, I actually think Clinton did a god job. Some people comment about the actions of Sanford, I was pointing out that Clinton also had liaisons on the taxpayers dime. I can point out unnecessary travel by both parties as well as cabinet members, but was trying to compare apples to apples ie affair to affair. Sanford is not the first politician to diddle on the taxpayers dime, nor will he be the last.
  14. Didn't Clinton have relations with and intern in the White House while our tax payers dollars paid his salary? Didn't our tax payers pay for the impeachment after he lied? I guess it depends what you define oral as. My point being for either side to throw out improprieties by either party using tax dollars is crazy. People vote party. Look at any election. Always have and always will. Out of curiosity, have any of those posting lived in or currently live in the south? Cultural issues come into play in all elections. Read a decent article on Drudge that said the special election really tells us nothing on the national political scales. Hard for Republicans outside of SC to call it a victory as the RNC did everything possible to not support him. Had the Dems won, they would have said it was a referendum on the Republican party when in reality, IMO, it would have been SC not giving the guy a second chance. He will probably be a pain in the a$$ o the "establishment Republicans". As brutal as the R primary was, I am surprised he won.
  15. This is correct but probably not in the way that you intend. This is definitely not about the 4 Americans who were killed. What way did I intend? If you mean it seems no one cares about the 4 that were lost, I would agree (lack of press, no real mention of their names etc, Carney's comments about a "long time ago"). If you mean we, as a country, have a short memory, I would agree. If you mean both sides use the deaths for political clout I would agree. It needs to be about the Americans and the fact a consulate was over run. It doesn't need to be about politics. It needs to be about finding out what happened, how it happened, how to prevent it from occurring again, if there were miscues then those accountable punished and the terrorists that did this be brought to justice. I am aSSuming that you feel this is purely political. Taking the politics out, does any of this new information cause you concern or to question what was initially put out by the administration? I just find it hard to believe (regardless of party) that we had assisted in enforcing a no fly zone over Libya, knew terrorist activity in and around Benghazi was on the rise and had no assets available as a QRF for embassy personnel. Seems like someone was asleep at the wheel as it related to security provisions for a country that I would consider austere and non-permissive environment.
  16. Awesome response. Any more cute videos?
  17. This is my litmus test as well. And it seems harder and harder to tell what our government knows and/or what their motivations are for involvement. Because in this case, isn't the rebel faction actually more likely to be in league with Islamist extremists that tend to team up strongly with the larger anti-American powers in the region? To date, it appears that only one group is secular. This doesn't mean the others are fundamentalists, but I would think that the vast majority would be less than friendly to US interests.
  18. I think it boils down to who knew what and when it was actually known. If the whistleblower testimony is true, it appears that there were serious gaps in our response as well as the information that was broadcast being the result of a disturbance gone bad was flat out BS. No one seems to give a crap that 4 Americans were killed, a consulate was over run and our intel (HUMINT) was completely destroyed. I forgot, Let's be clear, Benghazi was a long time ago........................
  19. Thanks for the mathematical statistical analysis. O sucked until last year and D carried the victories. O rocked last year and D sucked. All years we were lucky to win what we won. I hope that the D can be remotely better than last year. Sell out on the run until some team decides to throw. After our run D last year, can't imagine too many teams that won't try to ram it down our throats. Statistically speaking, what level would our D need to be to not "cost us" games this year. If the O limits TO's, would that be enough to negate the D and their possible lack of performance on par with 2012?
  20. I am an idiot. What you have posted looks good. What the heck does it mean in laymen's terms? Thanks!
  21. Someone had also mentioned that when we are on O, Martinez chooses to go with older "more worn" balls. I wonder if the older smoother footballs might contribute to our issues.
  22. The biggest deficit last year as it relates to TO's was that almost half the points scored against us were after we lost a fumble. This did not take into account INT's. With INT's it was like 30%. Here is a good break down of or TO's and national comparisons. http://dataomaha.com...-slippery-slope We can't win the close games or join the elite if we have to play ourselves and the opponent.
  23. Same here with the A&M. We had no chance in that game playing the refs. Didn't we get like 12 penalties in that game. That sucked for sure.
  24. For all the questions I have about Bo and his D scheme, from the highlights above, it is evident to me at least that with talent it is a very good scheme and can flat out ball. 2009 we basically played without an offense and 2010 we played with a broke down crew at QB and every ref in the Big XII. Those 2 years, talent makes the difference, not scheme IMO.
  25. IIRC, too tall is an issue if the OL can't get "low". Seem to recall Coach Kaz mentioning that last year in ref to the DL so I would assume that Garrison and others will work on this issue. I could care less about height so long as they can do what is expected.
