  1. I think about this all the time when I think of those 90's teams. The offensive and defensive lines looked like actual horses. Good times.
  2. Joseph has been pretty candid about wanting kids who love football. From some of the other comments, it sounds like Betts wasn't in this category. Makes me wonder if this is who Joseph has been talking about all along.
  3. Who keeps letting Tonya Harding in the building? Someone tell her to leave our star TE's knees alone. Jeez.
  4. I think anytime a kid gets an NIL deal, the school should have to provide some financial literacy education. I read a cool article about Marshawn Lynch and how he's helping rookies and early draftees get their financial house in order by explaining what some simple payroll and tax issues like FICA and how to invest in a 401K. Beast Mode is working with Pros and they still cant figure it out. I can't imagine how badly this can go for a 18 year old kid with little financial education. At bare minimum, the schools should at least explain how a contract works and then provide the resources to set up IRA's for these kids. I'm all in favor of these kids profiting of their NIL but I'm afraid that there's going to be some horror stories in a few years about kids who got $50k from a car dealership and didn't know they had to pay any kind of tax on it. Hell, my sister runs a home based business and didn't know she had to hold back social security from her earnings. It's going to happen and I just hope the schools can prevent some of it with some basic financial literacy courses.
  5. And, the boosters that donated to this project all have plenty of money to go around. I've fundraised funds from some of these deep pockets in the past and their general comment is that they didn't make their money once. While the donations to the facility are tax deductible, the NIL deals would be considered business expenses like advertising or promotions, and similarly tax deductible. This isn't going to prevent NIL deals in the future.
  6. Lol...there's always one. BTW, what's the weather doing down there? I'm supposed to be on the road in that direction tomorrow.
  7. Where's the guy that said they'd be cutting off financial support for the University for this logo change? I'd like to see if the Herbie logo was still the linchpin for their financial support and if said person actually had the strings to make any commitments in the first place.
  8. We get it. He's from Pender. Jeez. JK - good article.
  9. I think the only thing people can stand on when they make that argument is that he was really only a feature target in this season and that maybe should have been featured more in years past.
  10. Well it was at a country club so probably not much of a bar fight but yeah, that's the rumor. Everyone knows someone who was at LCC when it happened so wtf knows if it actually went down that way.
  11. Yeah, bar fights at Lincoln Country Club aren't a good look for the AD of a power five university.
  12. I agree but who hasn't wanted to walk up to a kicker, kick them, and say "hey dips#!t, make your f#&%ing kicks." Is he a secret genius? Sometimes I say crazy things.
  13. I think the transfer portal will ultimately ending up facilitating depth concerns similar to the Waiver program in the NFL. I never knew about Nadab Joseph but given how teams can only have so many scholarship players, if a position gets depleted teams are going to need to find an interim solution.
  14. You do now. What about when the pandemic hit, then Texas froze, and then and then Ida hit Louisiana? I know a lot of contractors that enforced the "force majeure" section of their contracts because they simply couldn't eat the price increases on raw materials for builds during that time. It shouldn't be surprising that a project budgeted for $150mm in 2019 costs more in 2021.
  15. Another huge impact is on the tarrifs that were put on Chinese steel. It's been great for domestic steel manufacturers but they simply cannot keep up with the demand. I'm friends with the CFO of a large steel company and he told me they're not taking on any new customers and giving take or leave it prices for their established customers. The only way these steel construction prices return to earth is by more supply and unfortunately that means steel from China and Europe.
  16. This is an interesting article on the role of ST coordinators in the NFL: https://www.the33rdteam.com/darren-rizzi-special-teams-coordinators/ I imagine this role could have similar benefits in the college ranks. Before everyone tears into Darren Rizzi's record or credentials, consider the points he's making: 1. They have to know, and spend time with the entire team - you would think this would he the role of HC but think of all the booster meetings, staff meetings, recruiting, and other stuff that calls on Frost's plate. 2. They have to be specialists in situational football, clock management, and executing under pressure - something we're obviously missing. 3. They actually scheme special teams scenarios against our opponents - think Michigan State...again it's obvious. I think a good ST coordinator can not only fix our obvious ST issues, but will also give a depth to player and roster management that we're currently lacking. As good of a coach as I think Tuoiti is, I still think this program grows by the hiring of a full time special teams coordinator.
  17. Keegan was also being an a-hole to the fans during the game. He was pictured standing on the bench talking s#!t to fans during and after the game. Class act.
  18. Does that mean he'll signing on the original February signing date?
  19. This is an incoherent sentence. I've read quite a few of your posts and understand you prefer an offense that favors the run. I've also read a few posts that counter this logic with the following statistic: there was only one team this year that average 300+ yards a game and that was Army. They went 9-3. I'm starting to think your account is a parody account of fans stuck in the 90's.
  20. I'm starting to doubt their commitment to sparkle motion.
  21. That we don't already have a QB commit from the portal indicates its not as easy to just "get one from the portal." I'm actually wondering if they're considering rolling with Torres game 1. The kid is 6'6 and has an absolute cannon. Just curious.
  22. They need to stay away from Misty's. I don't want this kid thinking the garbage Misty's considers prime rib comparable to the rest of the beef in our state.
