  1. Hmmmm, they're pioneering a broadcast in VR yet I can't get Comcast to get me my BTN in HD out in the bay area, makes total sense
  2. The scoring stats are the most concerning. Our inability to run the ball consistently severely impacts the options in the pass game. I assume our defensive stats just went in the crapper after the beat down this weekend. Always concerning that we didn't have a dominant offensive performance all year- that Wyoming game is very misleading from afar as that was a game until the 4th when we came up with some big turnovers. I can stomach losses to big time programs like ohio state, but this team really needs to get back into the mode of 4 quarters of consistent, effective football, against lesser opponents. We don't need to be leading the nation in scoring but we absolutely need to be in the top 4 within our own conference given our refusal to line up and run the ball.
  3. Superior talent across the board + great defense + sticking to what works + great coaching + heisman caliber difference maker = contender we can't even run the ball for 3-4 yards consistently and have a qb who isn't consistent with his mechanics, much less passing results. coupled with no difference makers on either side of the ball, non existent pressure and a secondary that refuses to play in between the qb and receiver= non contender who gets dismantled by top teams
  4. We don't play them often enough to remotely resemble a rivalry... I'll use your Oklahoma reference as an example, once the Big12 went north/south and we did not play each other annually the rivalry declined and took a back seat to Texas and Oklahoma. Why? cause the stakes weren't on the line every year like they once were. Everyone hates ohio state for who they are, but they will never view us a true rival. Even Michigan St who has had great success as of late, is still second fiddle to OSU/Michgian. Unless we meet up in the big 10 title game regularly and the results go back and forth they will never be a rival. Much easier to build a rivalry with the likes of Iowa, Wisconsin, etc
  5. I think any team in the country should realistically expect a drop off when you lost the nations top returner the entire year. No coaching/depth is going to make up for what DPE brings to the table.
  6. how chili is chili? I don't know if Santa Clara is the same as frisco, but if it is...ignore the temperature. That place is the coldest place on the planet. I was there one year in the middle of summer and in the middle of the day and nearly froze my azz off. Bring a jacket. No need to worry about the weather. Worst case is its rainy and in the mid 50s at kickoff. I live a few miles from Levi's and will be going to the game. It's where the San Francisco 49ers play but the actual stadium is a solid 40-50 miles south of SF itself. It might get cold and dip to the low 40s but that wouldn't be until the end of the game. You don't get the stiff breeze and fog like you always do in SF... That being said, if you're making the trip I highly suggest staying in SF and taking the train or getting a hotel nearby just for the game. South Bay is a great place but it doesn't come close to the touristy spots SF has. You never know with Bay Area weather, it was 72 on Christmas Day just 2 years ago.
  7. What was your expectation for this year? The talent was there this year. On D we'll most likely lost Collins and Gangwish and Byerson Cockrell are seniors so they are gone but on offense we lose Alex Lewis, Ryne Reeves, Zach Sterup not to mention Andy Janovich. I actually see us struggling more next year. Sigh... No it wasn't. Talent wasn't there at RB, DE, CB and we had serious depth issues at LB and QB. Talent wasn't "there". We have talent in certain spots, but overall Nebraska lacks depth and needs to improve the talent top to bottom. Yep. And it ain't magically happening in one off season. NU will be worse on offense. Regardless of who is qb. Might as well play TA. How will our offense be worse? Because we lose a few lineman who not once all year looked dominant? We return pretty much all RBs, WRs, a hopefully healthy DPE and another year with this system. TA or not TA at the helm, what makes you think we're going to be worse off?
  8. D definitely needs to clean things up. Struggling to get consistent pressure on the QB, mixed with a suspect secondary that is non existent at times= minimal INTs, fumbles are more of a luck thing IMO It also wouldn't hurt if Tommy could cut down on the INTs, its a mix of play calling and reducing the bone headed throws into triple coverage. He was 2nd in the country in picks this year and probably would have been #1 if he hadn't missed the Purdue game, that's simply unacceptable
  9. Are you Mike Riley finally feeling comfortable enough to buy a house?
  10. You're just bitter you sold off your tickets Nope. I'm realistic Then be realistic and celebrate a great win
  11. That they were man. This was a great win across the board, the players fought but let's give credit to this staff as well. Many on these boards were prophesizing this to be a blow out due to players quitting on the staff and they pulled it together... Let's celebrate this for 36 hours and get back to work on Monday. This win means a lot less if we come out flat and no show against Rutgers
  12. FOR f#*k'S SAKE! Reasonable statement IMO. I mean, just because they were 32-3 in the past three years combined (including this one) coming into this game and undefeated this year doesn't mean you deserve to be a top 10 team. They barely beat Purdue, Rutgers, and needed 3 garbage time TDs to make the Indiana game look good (it's neck and neck for 3 quarters). Those are all really good teams, right? Of course they are, that's why MSU out gains their opponents per play by so very little. It would just look funny to do so if those teams were say at the bottom of the conference standings. Those other teams listed in the top ten must be the ones playing those sorts of teams, because they're out gaining their opponents by a ton more. (In all seriousness, don't define what you do by what you think your opponent is. When you go up in the air fighting for a ball against another grown ass man, you made that play. Doesn't matter what you think of the guy. If anything the past two weeks has taught us, it should be this.) Honestly man, you can knit pick all you want to fit whatever agenda you have but the truth of the matter is that Michigan St is widely acknowledged and respected as a near elite program the past few years. There style of play doesn't always result in blow outs going with the great defense, great run game and smart QB play. Mind you they just lost one of the great defensive minds in the game in Narduzzi and were still undefeated until tonight. They've consistently competed and beat the best in bowl games. Anyway you cut it, this was a great win against a very respected program and should be used as a great foundation to build upon moving forward. Does this flip the script on Riley and Co just like that? No. But quit discrediting this win as if it was against a team who came out of nowhere and doesn't deserve to be ranked where they were as you're just disrespecting both this win and the Michigan st program
  13. Just curious what makes you think that? And I mean that in the least threatening way possible because once I again there were countless occasions of Sparty converting 3rd and long through the air with 3 to 4 sometimes 5 huskers around but none close enough to make a play on the ball or receiver to disrupt. And I can't say for sure whether that's a criticism on coaching/scheme or just players not having the right instincts. Maybe it's a little bit of both and just growing pains with a new system?

  16. Goodness these losses have nothing to do with the talent. These coaches are making the same gaffes they made in their Oregon St. days. What you're seeing is what you're going to get. Tough year is an understatement we are 2-4 and our best win this season is a single digit victory against Southern Miss Really? Talent plays no part in this? Who's our go to on offense? We need 5-10 yards, who r we drawing a play for? Please, fill me in because I see no difference makers on this team. Where r the NFL guys on defense? We rip Bo for crappy recruiting yet blame riley for all of this? At some point you need to realize the squad currently out there is average at best and no coach can win every game with this squad. We have a QB who is erratic, no receivers with a speed or size advantage, ditto for RB. An O line that's neither quicker or stronger than D Lines. An ok to marginal D line, suspect linebackers and a secondary so weak they have to play the pass over the top instead of under the throw because they aren't tall, fast or strong enough to hold their own.... But yeah it's totally the guys fault who has been here for 6 games http://247sports.com/Season/2015-Football/CollegeTeamTalentComposite have a look and tell me how talent played such a big factor against Illinois, BYU and Wisconsin. The only team that comes close is Miami and they are one of the worst coached teams in the nation. If you can't see the coaching mistakes by this "experienced" staff then I'm convinced you and I aren't watching the same team. I'm glad you answered none of my questions yet supply a link to ratings given to 17-18 year old kids out of high school. That's great, I'm convinced we aren't watching the same team. Because while I'm watching a team with no difference makers on the field you must think were top 25 based off some web site who says we have top 25 talent. Let me know how that goes when you talk college football to non husker fans. I sincerely hope they take your word that this team is good because some website says their mean recruit ranking is 25, yet never shows up on actual game day. This coaching staff has made mistakes, but let's not kid ourselves, we have no players on this team that would allow us to compete consistently with the top 30 programs today.
  17. Really that far fetched? How are the other new hires doing during the soft part of the schedule? Michigan/Florida - obvious Houston - undefeated and contending Oregon St - getting routed Pitt - 4-1 Wisconsin - not good, but 4-2 Most of those hires, possibly all of those hires, were widely considered better than ours. Ours just baffled everyone. (Personally think Chryst makes about as little sense as Riley but some disagree.) Even if you ignore the idea of contending, which I would say is better left as exceeding expectations in a first year, 2-4 is simply not acceptable, and certainly not with this schedule. There is a good chance, largely depending on what Sparty does next week, that we do not play a top 10 team this season. I completely agree that 2-4 is unacceptable but let's be real here. We probably have a handful of players who would be 1-2 on the depth chart at Florida, if that. Harbaugh has proven to be one of top coaches on any level and michigan also has superior talent to go along with it. Have u taken a look at Houston's schedule? We'd be 5-0 as well playing those cupcakes. Pitt barely beat bo f*cking beep and Youngstown st. And Wisconsin has had a culture of success and recruits well to their system over the past5 years. So what's your point? You compare us to schools with more talent,a softer schedule or both and think we're entitled to the same success?
  18. There are plenty of coaches who have gone into a new program and won immediately, Florida is doing it as we speak. Riley with his 40+ years of coaching experience, I expected him to be at least on the opposite end of this 2-4 record and be 4-2. But it is redundant at this point. Ooo yeah, the Florida team who's had far superior recruiting classes over the past 4 years than us? Great, let's compare apples and oranges and call it even. Definitely an even comparison when one coach inherits a talent rich squad and another inherits a squad with deficiencies across the board with no difference makers. Well IMO, this Nebraska team has some talent and some playmakers. Most certainly more talent than a 2-4 record team. I agree our record should be better, however, I strongly disagree on talent. Fill me in on the playmakers and talent on this squad. I see a QB with no consistency, no RB who makes ppl miss or runs through ppl, no receiver who can create and a slow defense with no instinct for the ball to go along with average size and speed. Who am I not seeing disrupt plays on defense? Who on offense is a game breaker that I must have taken a piss break and missed them tearing it up?

  21. Nothing but a bunch of couch coaches in here. Have any of you tried to lead a team in anything where you know no one and none of which you had influence on? It's hard as hell. I said it in another thread and I'll say it here, to write a coach out after 6 games with 0 players he recruited is foolish. This team was already broken before riley was coach and to expect BIG 10 title contention is ludicrous. It's an uphill battle to acclimate to a new job and to expect riley to just come in and contend immediately is naive and wishful at best. I hoped for better as well, but I sincerely hope most of you on this board is reasonable enough to realize Riley is not Jesus and he can't turn an average to piss poor team into gold overnight. Let's wait a year or 2 and see the players he brings in before we all sh#t our pants acting like it's the end of the world.
  22. All of you need to take a step back, chill the hell out, and realize Riley and Co r playing with a whole team they did not recruit. Bo was a horrible recruiter who's best players were often JUCO transfers. This team is full of good but not great players. Could our record be better with a few plays that could have gone our way? Sure. But we have no difference makers on both sides of the ball and many underestimate just how much we relied on Ameer last year for offense. We all knew this was going to be a tough year. While this is worse than most thought, to mark a coach as a failure after 6 games without a single recruiting class of his own is foolish at best.
  23. Had a lengthy lay over last week and ran into a group of Oregon State fans at the airport bar. Picked their brain on Riley and what they thought... They loved the guy but said they thought it was time for a change due to the length of his tenure more than anything else. Gives both the beavers and Riley a fresh start. They said offensively the staff he will bring in should work out fine and that Riley should bring in much better players given our brand and not having a top 3 team right in our backyard. The major concern was Banker as DC. Said he was a clear weak link on the previous staff from both an on the field and recruiting standpoint. Crowd was mixed on Riley's departure but seeing Banker go with him was supported 100% among the knowledgeable OSU fans.
  24. haha its all good man, not gonna lie, his first 2 TDs I did let out a few choice expletives knowing he coulda been doing that for us, great to see him succeeding elsewhere and happy as hell that they're taking it to the "Greatest thing ever" AKA SEC. Here's to a new year and era for Husker football, I imagine all of us will be doing the following here in a few hours...
