  1. I just looked at the thread title and LOL'd.
  2. I am not a football coach or player, but I would opine that the players have a ton of responsibility (hard work, preparation, leading/motiviating/pushing teammates, etc), and obviously the players are the ones who have to make it work on the field, but the ultimately the buck stops with the coaches. The coaches, in addition to recruiting the players and teaching them, must hold them accountable from week to week or day to day, and help them correct mistakes. Indiviudal errors are on the players, but coaches still need to address it. Patterns of problems, such as frequent confusion on defense, or frequently missed blocking schemes, do fall on the coaches, as the players either need to be taught better, or if they do not respond, need to be sat on the bench and replaced in the game. It's certainly not a black and white issue; players and coaches share a lot of responsibility, but the coach is at the top of it all.
  3. If she's already pissed off, the following things will make it much worse: 1. Asking her what's wrong. 2. If she says nothing is wrong, but something is obviously wrong, asking her again. 3. If she says nothing is wrong, but something is obviouisly wrong, taking her word for it and dropping it. 4. If something is obviously wrong but I don't ask her about it. 5. Trying to fix her problems. 6. Not trying to fix her problems. 7. Entering the room. 8. Leaving the room. 9. Trying to comfort her. 10. Not trying to comfort her. Avoid all of these, and you'll be fine.
  4. That's one of the things that I love about the college game - so many pieces are continuously being replaced. But I'd rather replace several defensive starters than a four-year starter at QB. If this year is not "the year," it will be hard to predict when "the year" will ever come at all. THE TIME IS NOW!
  5. I agree with this. Bo is ultimately responsible for the recruiting and the developing, so daignosing the exact reason for any shortcomings is just water-cooler fodder. It's hard to measure anyway. What we saw out of Suh after Pelini came on board fueled his legend (which then sort of stalled because we haven't seen much greatness out of the D-Line in terms of recruiting or development since then), but part of the equation may just be maturity in players. Most players will hopefully get better from year to year anyway, as long as their coaches and teammates support them properly (sorry, Corey McKeon). Landlord above mentioned Jared Crick's emergence from 2008 to 2009. Well, Crick was a redshirt freshman in 2008, he should be getting much better the next year anyway. Just a layman's thoughts...
  6. First of all, isn't the whole point of fan day so people can collect autographs? Fan day without autographs is like going to Hooters just for the food. Secondly, I'm sure people all over the country are scouring Ebay and Craigslist for autographs of Louisville stars.
  7. I was had the exact same reaction at the time, and texted my own brother and friends almost the exact same message!
  8. Just looking at this list of losses and conjuring memories of each of these games, whether they were respectable or embarassing, regardless of ranking, is a numbing process. Damn you 95 Redux!
  9. Sure he would have. Right after he signed the football and Hoffman's jersey. I think Manziel was the guy who bid all that money for the Jack Hoffman trading card but didn't pay.
  10. I haven't met you, so I'm still going to assume you ARE a badass. Now go to North Platte and grab this guy by the scruff of the neck too.
  11. You'll probably need Bruce Wayne's help with this one.
  12. Did you order the Code Red?!?!
  13. I have no doubt that he'd have a lot of very loud defenders if he was a Husker. You'd hear terms like "witch hunt" and "media bias" in addition to rationalizing his behavior as a regular college kid. I agree with StPaulHusker that the coaches likely wouldn't let it have gotten this far in the first place, but it would be a tough situation to handle. I bet we'd be having some very heated debates here on Huskerboard over what to do with him and whether or not he is actually a major douchebag or just a misunderstood young man.
  14. I stepped into an Art of Shaving store in San Francisco - some of their shaving kits for sale were $200! I use Dollar Shave Club myself.
  15. Not to take too lightly the desires of a beloved family member...but his mom told him when he was 4 that she wanted him to be football player at KU. I would like to think we can overcome that. Surely if his mom were around today, she would realize that her son would have more success and more opportunity at Nebraska than Kansas. When I was 4, I wanted to be an Ewok.
  16. Isn't this something you do as part of your job anyway, and that you could have done on duty just an hour earlier (or sooner since you were in the neighborhood anyway)? And in the OP, you talk about selling your house to get away from this guy, the day after he moves in. To paraphrase Michael Bolton in Office Space, why should you have to change, he's the one who sucks! You have the intelligence and authority to stand up to this bozo, just do it and put the kibosh on his shenanigans. My peace can't be disturbed while I'm on duty. Simply having a party isn't against the law, I would've needed someone to call and be dispatched to the loud party and then I could legally do something. I told my wife to call, but she didn't for whatever reason, she doesn't want to make waves. Also, confronting 15 dudes after I'm off work about being loud probably won't go well. I have A LOT of experience dealing with drunk a-holes and know when to do something and when not to do something. Having the on-duty cops show up to take care of the issue is the best thing I can do. I'm not going to go over there after work and speak with him in my uniform as that could be construed by some as me trying to intimidate him. That's not what I want to do, trust me calling the on-duty guys was the right thing. I can deal with the parking issues as I see them, I don't have to be called to those. Yes, it's confusing and a pain in the arse. Ah, makes sense - no wonder it is so frustrating then!
  17. I would not wear a jersey myself, but I don't see the harm in someone wearing one on gameday. However, it seems weird and kinda creepy when an overweight, unathletic grown man (possibly with a cigarette) wears the name and number of a college kid half his age with whom he has no personal connection.
  18. As soon as the Super Bowl was over, I agreed with my wife to ditch our TV services, no cable, no satellite and save a few bucks. We have a Roku player for our TV so we can stream Netflix and Hulu (lots of other channels are available on Roku, but hardly anything worthwhile that doesn't cost extra). We have Internet of course also. Now the time of year I have been dreading because I don't know how I will be able to watch Husker games at home. Friends and family are a pain, and sports bars are expensive, even though we have saved some money from losing the satellite. I have researched how to watch live sports on Roku, but the only option I have seen is PlayOn, which I don't see many good reviews for. Suggestions for how to watch the games? Are there any legal Internet sites that stream the games (even for a small fee) without having a cable subscription?
  19. A good train between Lincoln and Omaha would be a great idea anyway, apart from football games. You have two downtown areas that are growing in vibrancy, two mid-sized cities that are growing toward each other anyway, a fair number of commuters between the two cities, and one city with a decent airport and one with a barely passable dinky piece of crap expensive airport. Party trains on gameday would just be icing on the cake for improving Lincoln's accessibility and relevance. Hell, Lincoln even has a local manufacturer that builds commuter train cars (Kawasaki). Wouldn't it be great for the locals to be able to see and use first-hand what they have built?
  20. I don't get the passive agressiveness. You are a cop - why not issue a ticket or warning for a loud party and break it up as soon as you heard about it. If you were on duty until 2 a.m. and were able to drive by your own house to take care of the guy parked in your driveway, why not disperse the whole thing then unstead of going home later and calling different cops? Is there a conflict of interest issue with writing tickets on your own neighbor? Isn't this something you do as part of your job anyway, and that you could have done on duty just an hour earlier (or sooner since you were in the neighborhood anyway)? And in the OP, you talk about selling your house to get away from this guy, the day after he moves in. To paraphrase Michael Bolton in Office Space, why should you have to change, he's the one who sucks! You have the intelligence and authority to stand up to this bozo, just do it and put the kibosh on his shenanigans.
  21. Q: What's the hardest class you've taken at the university? Ron Kellogg III: “The history of jazz.”
  22. Wait, I don't understand. How simple is it? Pretty god damn or pretty f'ing? I think we need a consistent definition before we can proceed. There's a door to this thread...you should take it and leave with your troll comment.
  23. I like this group for our defensive coaching staff, but what about the offense? I'd be worried about Jesus wearing too many hats; he needs a solid OC. But we shouldn't overpay him.
