I wonder what Newby's YPC is sans his goal-line fumble run on the third play of the game where he had a giant hole. Not to say that that doesn't count, but I saw one run by Newby in the game where I thought that he did a great job vs the play being called well and the OL opening up solid holes. Ozigbo seems to very consistently make something out of less than something. I guess you can dismiss what you want but that was a great run. Play was up the middle, he cut to the outside, cut inside one guy then cut back to the outside to get down the sideline. The fumble was bad but the run was great. I'm not trying to bash on Ozigbo but this was his second game averaging less than 3.3 ypc this year. He runs tough but he hasn't been making an entirely large amount happen - which also has to do with playcalling. Ozigbo's best YPC game - against our worst opponent - is the only game he has that is better than Newby's worst YPC game this year. Yet he has twice as many carries. Plus Newby has three runs longer that Ozigbo's longest - on half the carries. If you want to blame it on playcalling that's fine - I'd like to see where you think Ozigbo has been getting significantly different play-calls - but let's run more of the plays we're running with Newby. Yeah, he made a bad move at the half yard line, but at least he was able to get there.

Probably should spend the entire season comparing NU to Alabama - It will be good for you because you can continue to explain how much NU sucks and it will be good for the rest of us because we will be able to start looking forward to the run that NU will have for the rest of 2016. That's an optimistic way to look at it GBR. ​I'll continue to point out our deficiencies and you can wave your pom poms....we'll be a team.

The offense is easier to understand. I don't think people understand what's going on with the defense as much. Everybody on defense looks better to me this year, including the coaches. Can't really tell you why though, or if it will hold up against tougher lines like Wisconsins. When the younger players get on the field they appear to be very fast and athletic. Seems like a good sign to me.

I'm not sure, that may have been our first win in all white??The upside is our guys have picked up quite a few ladies down at the docks.

Strange that you are concerned about Illinois I have seen a couple times that you have post our inability to use talent - can you explain in more depth? Where do you see the large advantage with Wisc - that we are going to get our butts whupped? I think we'll win, but the way we play down to teams, you never know. ​I have explained that many times, don't have time now. ​At this stage of the season and judging by our performance and their performance against the kind of teams we played, they look better. Pretty sure I just explained in the What We Learned thread why I think that. Inconsistency against athletically inferior teams doesn't give me any confidence in playing against a big school that can recruit and has destroyed us in the past.

I'll start by saying that I think Fo Fiddy needs to be fired or at least not taking up a coaching spot. Having said that, I heard that the Huskers were worried about NW faking a(some) punt(s) to try to stay in the game. Fo Fiddy does get credit for his guys being ready for the fake FG. This is not a one game thing. This has occurred in every game this season, during most punts to Nebraska, with the exception of the big DPE return against Oregon and a few others. This is a carryover from last year's special teams punt return scheme. It is a philosophy deal with FoFiddy, and I would like to know why. You put your punt returner on an island nearly every time and ask him to make a clutch catch or seriously risk losing it. Furthermore, you have a Jet Award winner returning your punts and you are icing him on purpose. It is just unfathomable to me. Well, you won me over. I agree...it's just plain stupid. Like having DB's cover with the back of their head. Edit: And if they're concerned about DPE, then we have other qualified guys like Morgan and Westy....and I'm sure a bunch of others.

I'm sure we all think Nebraska is a fine team...a real dandy team.....some of us are a little more critical because we think we've already got these guys by us beat and we're already looking down field thinking about how we're gonna beat those other guys.......just like Reggie Bush. ​So the criticism isn't so much about what we've done as much as it's about our perception of how it will measure up against Wisconsin and Ohio State. Fortunately the teams performance so far is allowing us to have that speculation.

I think they're all running fine ,but not Herschel Walker or Bo Jackson fine. We should play the guy who can run through tackles like them.

Michigan State took a beating from the coaches. Didn't expect them to drop that far.

And strangely ,I'm still wondering if we'll beat Illinois. ​Great thread though. At this point I just don't see it happening......too many screw ups and lack of chemistry, soft coverage, lack of line control on both sides, inability to use talent.... ​As much as I'd like to see it ,I'd say Wisconsin would be #2......we'd be about #10........after we got our butts whupped, we'd be back between 16-20.

I'm not doubting you, I've just noticed a bunch of unfieldable punts this year that will probably go away against better teams. This HAS changed my opinion about why DPE is fair-catching everything. Maybe our coach IS an idiot??

Apparently it's hard to find good punters these days and the ones on the teams we played can only kick a 30 yard squibber. ​If DPE really is worried about returning kicks then we should go with Morgan, Westy, or one of the new guys.

It looks like Nebraska could move up to #16......but even at 4-0 there are still four Big Ten teams ahead of us. I'm gonna go ahead and question the validity of the Michigan State ranking. And as always, it's hard to know how conferences match up....whether all the teams in that conference are really that good or whether they all suck equally. Our schedule gives us all the time we need to prepare for the top teams, while at the same time not really giving us any indication whether we're worth a damn. Their field, big underdogs......beating Wisconsin and Ohio State in their house would be really sweet.

It's redorkulous that valuable time is going by and all these talented guys just seem to be standing there. It's time for everybody to get on the same page.

No, we're not back. We have a senior team with most of our offensive fire power leaving after this year. The rest of the team is spotty and could go either way; that's up to them. ​We'll be back when we're in the Top 10 consistently and can beat other Top 10 teams at least 50% of the time. ​Maybe after this shaky NW game, the seniors will put their heads together and figure out how to get it done right now (the time they have their best shot). We have a bunch of talented guys on the team whose talents appear to be poorly utilized, if they're utilized at all. I doubt we're gonna see a bunch of coaching magic that's gonna change that and I think the players are gonna have to start communicating if they want to be back.

Other than the slow whistle on Ozigbo...we really haven't. Hopefully you are very drunk or you are nearly blind I am curious about how we got sodomized by the refs? I know of one play near the goal line when our RB's forward progress was stopped but they called a fumble. I'm not sure what other sodomy occurred. I would say we sodomized ourselves more than anything.
