  1. I thought this was about Husker players or coaches. I can see why I might end up as Warren Buffet without the money, but getting it from that combination of pictures didn't make much sense to me. Regardless, I'll be expecting a call to pick up my new SUV.
  2. Your boss didn't have them removed from the stadium? Or punch them....whichever comes first.
  3. Lines hold their own, of course. Good timing on safety, corner, and lb blitz calls. Creative run plays. Calls that go after their D's weakness. Receivers get to the ball and catch it. QB's don't throw picks. Aggressive coverage that gets us picks or forces fumbles. Don't want Herbie dancing with their mascot.
  4. Plus the receiver squad is kind of beat up, isn't it? It does matter whether they're short passes ,which are effectively long laterals, or your throwing the go route every play. We also need to be more creative with the run.
  5. I think the main problem is the way the runners are used. Beck calls certain types of plays when certain runners are on the field and it isn't fooling anyone. A runner needs to get in the groove and be a threat to do anything, not just be plugged in like a Playstation character. I'm more concerned that backs like Heard and Newby haven't been more successful under this staff and sometimes I wonder if a coach is qualified for his position or they just stuck him there.
  6. I didn't expect them to go from atrocious to KC Chiefs in one game, but you have to give them credit for becoming a D that didn't get beat like a drum and actually holding their own. Did anyone think we would hold them to that last field goal? I sure didn't. I still think we have players who will get better the more they communicate and I think we're seeing that already.
  7. With about 2 minutes left in the 1st half I thought Martinez would be the best one to run a hurryup offense......but I didn't see him on the sideline. Was he there?
  8. I think all the qb's are aware they need to step up their game, quit throwing into coverage, and put it where only our guy can get to it......or bring it down and run like hell.
  9. Yeah, I thought #2 played a great game....way to step up.
  10. I think we need to be more creative with the running game but I'm okay with playing Newby AND Frazier more. Something Buffalo did against The 9-0 Kansas City Chiefs today was run the zone read with a fake to the running back, the quarterback ran a little, then passed it to the WR. I think some variation of that could work for us.
  11. So far none of our quarterbacks are that great, so what's the point of rehashing these comparisons over and over? They all have strengths and weaknesses and it's obvious it will take help from the rest of the team to be successful. That is all.
  12. #2 Moore looked pretty good today, TA needs to quit throwing into double coverage when under pressure, the D can be effective when one of the db's blitz and are fast enough to get to the qb or catch the runner from behind, Beck needs to talk to Solich about the possibility of calling the same play twice in a row, we can run straight up the middle effectively, our O line is hurting, Ameer may be a super being from another planet.
  13. Tommy's main problem is the freshman mistake of thinking you have to make something happen every play. Martinez had that problem for a while and with experience learned to just throw it away, take the sack, or run back to the line. Tommy will figure that out. The bigger problem is getting adequate pass protection no matter who is QB and calling pass plays that actually get the receiver open. With a great runner like AA ,you'd think we'd use him more with outlet passes on busted plays.
  14. I'm hoping the linebackers and de's have a big game..........that would give us all hope for a successful season.
  15. Armstrong will start and then Kellogg will play like they did in the other games....I assume.
  16. I'm putting in a vote for Mick Tingelhoff.
  17. We're a little better than average team this year and it's the part of the season where injuries start to take a toll. Our best hope for success is our D starts playing the same game and gives our O a chance to stay with what it can do best. Bo was hired as the defensive specialist, so yes, every game that goes by where the D stinks it up makes it harder for Bo to stick around and every game with good D makes it easier on him. We don't have to make up personal insults or conspiracy theories against the coaches and players...it's just a matter of their ability to get the job done at a satisfactory level. Some of it IS on the defensive players looking clueless and just not making plays on their own initiative but the responsibility always comes back to the head guy.
  18. No, don't think so.....the kid appears to be doing the best he can. I would put the blame squarely on the coaches. I'm also a little annoyed by the commie style media that puts out weird propaganda pieces insinuating that Martinez is out due to injury and aren't we lucky to have Armstrong and Kellogg......what a crock. Martinez is in the same shape he was in when we got our butts handed to us by Minnesota and the fact is he hasn't had the same ability he had as a freshman for a long time. It makes me wonder about the potential abilities of the quarterbacks they ran off and if among the players there's a sense of confusion or lack of trust in the staff. Hopefully that's not the case and we can get back to playing ball with everyone on the same page. To answer the OP's question, I think you'd have to say Beck is the problem because of the way he calls plays according to who is in there....you can't put that on the player. Obviously with a depleted WR corps you can't act like we're Oregon, an offense that needs 6 healthy and talented receivers to function,.... take that from a coach who's known for high-flying offenses, Andy Reid, who has enough sense to see what he has and keep his offense mistake free and conservative.
