  1. So nobody thinks they feel they got duped on his qualifications as a head coach and took advantage of a moral turpitude clause to get him out? The whole thing sounds kind of fishy to me.
  2. I'd rather we lose every game and build a team that can compete with the best than win with fluff and trick plays that run up the score on also-rans but don't stand a chance against the big boys. I don't think Bo will get fired after this season...just my gut feeling.....next year there better be a reason to keep him.
  3. I'm glad to hear that....they both seem like good guys and capable leaders.
  4. Yeah, water off a ducks back if I'm them....social media is full of anonymous idiots.
  5. If you believe that simplistic video explained something then you've probably already made up your mind and are just looking for a place to vent.
  6. These people have a real problem dealing with differing opinions. It makes you wonder how they deal with their everyday lives. If I don't like Bo and what he's doing here, so what? I don't have to like it and none of you have to agree with me. Boo hoo. I'd still buy ya a beer and chat football with ya. It's when you think I'm somehow a bad person because I don't share your opinion, well that's when I start to believe maybe it's you that has issues. I just think it's humorous how these boards go back and forth between extremes. I do like Bo but that won't stop me from giving my opinion if I think something is wrong...so I guess I'm a fan who sucks but still supports the team??? The other thing ...if you don't like hearing opinions, why the hell would you hang around a message board?
  7. The main argument made is that fans of certain schools invest more into their program and feel entitled to win all the time because of it. College football basically IS a rigged game. It really makes you appreciate the salary caps and rules of the NFL that give every team a chance on any given day rather than the college system of the elites beating up on the teams that really don't stand a chance for anything but the occasional upset. I think the head of the BIG was onto something when he said players who want to be paid should go ahead and join a professional organization and leave the NCAA to amateurs; that the NFL should stop using the NCAA as its minor league. Where would that leave the entitled schools?
  8. It must be FANS SUCK day.....this is about the fifth thread I've seen on this subject.
  9. I'm tired of these former players who can't coach worth crap giving their endless effort pep talks. Like Tony said to KFAB, they need to keep their opinions in house. I'd prefer that we play close to the line so we have numbers and make them beat us over the top. You can't do that against a team like Oregon but Minnesota was no Oregon; a bottled up middle and good rush would've probably been much more effective than the prevent.
  10. We need to pass AND run....one sets up the other, but we never seem to do it effectively. Martinez was just sticking up for his team and giving half-hearted answers to fill the time.
  11. Those are the kind of penalties that are ridiculous and need to stop being called.
  12. Certain fans would like to send the Christians into the ring against the lions while they sit their fat ass in the stands and cheer but certain people who have to deal with all the consequences of it don't see it that way. That's my take on it.
  13. Benning's comments were addressed in another thread. I doubt Beck is purposely sabotaging his own qb and risking his own job, much more likely that he wants to be Oregon but if you watched that game you know we're not even close to them. Armstrong threw 3 ints against a weak team, Martinez was getting hounded and sacked repeatedly;....they thought TM was their best chance to win. I think some people just say things to get attention. Without having seen him but just from what others say, I think Stanton might be Beck's dream qb and that's why he doesn't want to give up on at least going the direction of the Oregon O.....thinks it's just a matter of talent....and he could be right.
  14. The silver lining? We have good running backs, a couple good qb's coming up, we're 5-2 not 2-5, the game was very winnable, Herbie Husker didn't dance with the Gopher, we have excellent receivers who are capable of big things the times the ball doesn't bounce off their head, we have a kick returning receiver who can probably take a short slant pass to the house, our special teams has been pretty good, our fans stay and yell at the team instead of walking out with 5 minutes left, our OC is like Peyton Manning---so tricky he even fools his own players....I suppose I could think of more.
  15. I doubt there will be any kneejerk reactions from the NU administration. We don't want to jump out of the frying pan into the fire....I'm not sure where you're supposed to land when you jump out of the frying pan...into the gravy???....I don't really know....but I doubt a bunch of angry Loonatics will be calling the shots if they decide to make a change.
  16. After the Illinois game I thought Armstrong was the better of the two. Then came the Purdue game where I brought my people and Kellogg embarrassed me in front of all of them. I suppose there are some 'build for the future' discussions going on now plus the recognition that we neglected half the run offense last game and that's why Tommy is starting. It'll be interesting to see how much RKIII plays and how well each does against a team like NW. So Martinez has three injuries and counting? That figures.
  17. Eh, whatever.....I don't see Bo getting fired this year.
  18. Beck will have a couple gamers at qb who should fit what he wants to do next year...I think that will play into any decision made by the donors of substance. I expect to see SOMETHING done with the defensive coaching staff, not sure what, but something. They're already addressing what they perceive is a recruiting deficiency, although I'm not sure how that will work if we can't recruit Texas,Okie, and the Missouri Tigers are on fire?? Do BIG territory kids want to come here? Holtz seems to think so. I don't see it as our current players being terrible but more as a depth problem...we appear to be thinning in areas and maybe it's just me but there seem to be a bunch of guys playing with minor injuries....although only the NSA, players, and staff know the truth about that. I don't see Bo getting fired this year, but this is flummoxing....I'm flummoxed. I had hoped this year we might have the kind of DB's we had in 2010,that's the most flummoxing of all.
  19. That's the thing. I think we do right now. There's a total lack of chemistry. I wanted to give Taylor this chance. I really did, becuase he did deserve it. The chance that is. But he's not the answer anymore. For some reason, the team-even winning-has looked rather uninspired all around with Taylor in at qb. There was a spark. A confidence. A swagger with the other, regardless of the competition. I'm really trying to observe how this is not being seen right now. And I don't understand how this is eluding so many people calling for Martinez' head as a solution to so many of this team's problems: If we can make this whole team play better by benching Martinez, the problem isn't Martinez, it's the whole team. Because that would mean these guys have let one player get into them so much that they cannot function properly with him on the field. So you take that guy off the field, but that doesn't fix the problem that these guys are prone to one player/thing affect them so greatly. That predilection still exists, and what's going to happen when another player takes over that "trouble causer" role? We bench him, too? What if it's Ameer and his fumbleitis? We bench Ameer in favor of Newby? Lather, rinse, repeat. The cause of the problem isn't Martinez. He would be a symptom, or a trigger. So why not fix the brains of the people using Martinez as an excuse rather than using Martinez as a scapegoat? And bear in mind, I'm of the opinion Martinez shouldn't take another snap as our QB based on his injury. I'm simply saying that Martinez isn't the problem in that scenario - the team is. Good points. What kind of pussified team would lay down because one player is different? I think the main problems on offense are the playcalling differences and the timing instincts of the different qb's. One might be easier to block for because the linemen get what he's trying to do....one is more in sync with receivers...etc.
  20. Herbie Husker dancing with that sledgehammer mascot of Purdue looked like The Village People......that was weird.
  21. Nah, a bunch of young players, two good qb's coming up......I think he gets another year. I could say something like 'unless he loses out' as a qualifier but couldn't you say that about any coach? The only thing that would make me think differently is if the admin already had some great coach ready to come in and I doubt that's the case.
  22. I think I get it....it's like a simile. Even though you're talking about hiring coaches for a 'hockey' team, you're implying that the same thing can be done for a 'football' team.
  23. I don't know if there's any truth to this ,but I heard The Leaker is being considered as the next coach.
