  1. Unforgiveable play calling and clock management. This staff is done. NU will never be a contender with this kind of disasterous decision making.
  2. He was coaching for his job yesterday and saved it. He's 9-3, with a chance to go 10-3 in the bowl game. No way Eichorst fires him. Despite the desire for change, he and likely his entire staff is coming back next year.
  3. Replacing eight starters from a very mediocre defense should raise all kinds of alarms for next year. I also doubt Pelini will change his defensive scheme, which is his biggest achilles heal. He doesn't have the players to run the two-gap successfully. NU will be able to score some points on offense, and they will need it, cause that defense will be playing mostly new guys. Based on that I make the early prediction of 8-4. Get used to it Husker fans. Like the World-Herald writer stated, "Bo isn't good enough to get over the hump, but he's good enough not to get fired".
  4. Last night was the last straw for me. I have no excitement for a bowl game...zero. Everything about this season has been fools gold. You can deny it, pretend the season was great, or put your head in the sand. The truth is, last night's result is going to have lasting effects on the program. Nebraska will lose the bowl game and it will be very lopsided against a superior SEC opponent.
  5. NFL Scouts? Good lord who cares about them?! I'm way more concerned about the negative impact on recruiting.
  6. I can't decide if NU is the worst 8-2 team in the country or by far the most fortunate.
  7. From reading the posts, it's obvious the fan base will continue to ignore exchanges like this as long as we continue to win. I promise you, that incidents like this will eventually will be Pelini's downfall. It's only a matter of time.
  8. I mentioned this same thing a few weeks ago after the Northwestern game when Antonio Bell got into it with Pelini. All the delusional fans said Pelini had the moral high ground and Bell was worthless, never contributed and blah, blah, blah. We saw it a few years ago at Texas A&M with Martinez. Now today it happens again with Stafford and it was even uglier. I guarantee you many players on this team have no love or respect for Pelini. There is a cancer forming on this football program and it's Bo Pelini. You can ignore it, pretend it's all the players fault, or say it was the heat of the moment, but it's not working with this team. NU has been extremely fortunate over the last three weeks, that it's masked the problems we have internally. If we had lost all of the games over the last three weeks, we'd be discussing Pelini's buyout, and most of you know it's the truth.
  9. No doubt our "come from behind" luck is going to end in a big way today. Penn State is owning our offensive and defensive lines. Bo as usual is ranting and screaming at players. The offense is unable to finish drives. And our defense can't get lined up properly.
  10. Bell will not be the only player to leave. I suspect there will be several others. Fans can blow it off as another disgruntled player. I think it reveals many problems underneath the surface that are being masked by our fortunate victories over the last three weeks.
  11. NU has a very average defense. We made MSU look like one of the best offenses in the Big Ten and they are terrible. We still do not consistently stop the run. The fortunate bounces we have been getting the last three games is sooner or later going to end.
  12. What we learned? 1. The NU defense is still very average. We made MSU look like an offensive machine.
  13. No way. Keep things in perspective. NU could have easily lost to Northwestern, Michigan and Michigan State and we'd all be discussing the buyout of Pelini's contract.
  14. I'm not on the Pelini bandwagon anymore. At first I loved the fire and passion, as we needed it after the Callahan fiasco. But over time it seems like the fire and passion has turned into anger, frustration and stubborness. I do not like the undisciplined style of play. I am willing to see how the season plays out. In reality, the only way I see Pelini departing is by his own choice (new job in NFL or College) or if he were to go 6-6 or 7-5 for a few seasons. Then the big money boosters would push for a change.
  15. Until we field a defense that can consistently stop mobile QB's and strong running teams, and field an offense that isn't a turnover/penalty machine, we can forget about beating any SEC team in a bowl game. NU better be ready to tackle Michigan this weekend before we discuss any bowl game scenarios. For crying out loud, we barely beat a very marginal Northwestern team.
  16. Obviously we were extremely fortunate to win today. We'll see how things go next week against Michigan. This team is so schizo, you never know how they are going to show up.
  17. The incident on the sideline with Bell is an example of everything that is wrong with the team and program right now. The coach is undisciplined the players are undisciplined and the way they play is undisciplined. It's really only a matter of time before Bo loses it again on the sideline. The reason I've lost faith in him is his demeanor which I think directly translates to the product on the field.
  18. I watched every one of Tommy Armstrong's football games during his last two years of high school. There is no doubt in my mind that right now he is a more complete QB than Taylor Maritnez. He's a far superior thrower compared to Martinez, which isn't saying much. I'm a little surprised the NU staff decided to redshirt him. If he doesn't get some significant playing time next season, I'm afraid he will transfer.
  19. I can't believe how many fans think we are going to waltz right on over to Indianapolis for the Big Ten Championship. The way our defense is playing, we better score 35 points per game, because we will need every last one to win these games. NU will be very fortunate to go 4-2 or 3-3 the rest of the season.
  20. NU is not going to win out this season. Nebraska fans need to get used to going 8-4 and 7-5, because it's going to happen. Northwestern and Michigan both have mobile QB's and NU has shown nothing this season to make me think they will slow either of them down, especially Robinson. I still think we'll have a difficult time with Michigan State, as we continue to have major problems winning on the road. Penn State and Iowa are both playing decent hard-nosed football and anyone who thinks those are automatic wins is delusional. The bottom line is we will be very fortunate to go 4-2 or 3-3 over the next six games.
  21. Absolutely schedule a team like LSU. I would much rather watch a meaningful game than Idaho State, even if it means a loss.
  22. I think Suh has a character flaw based on his off-field problems and the fact he lied last year about an on-field incident.
  23. There is zero, I repeat zero chance that Bo will start anyone but Martinez the rest of the season. The problem with this NU team is predominantly on defense. It's been poor for the last several seasons. The scheme does not fit the personel that NU currently has. That coupled with poor tackling, lack of creating turnovers and giving up big plays has routinely taken NU out of big games. Until Nebraska finds a defense that can consistently stop mobile QB's and teams with strong running games, we will be an average team in the Big Ten.
  24. To me, it's not the players. I happen to think we have some decent talent on defense. I believe it's all scheme. It's the wrong template for this team. NU is not capable of playing a 2-gap system against solid teams. NU gets away with it against the creampuffs and that tends to validate the successfulness of it in the eyes of Pelini. It takes a monster on the D-Line (which we lack) to make the 2-gap work. In the absence of a dominant D-Line you have to come up with a different plan. Play a 4-3 but blitz frequently with a fifth guy or mix in some 3-4 occasionally. But don't continue to use something that obviously is not tailored to this team and expect different results.
  25. Anything less than 8 wins and he's definitely on the hot seat. A 7-5 season and he would be allowed one season to fix things. A 6-6 season would get him canned immediately. The problem I see, is unless he starts to change and adapt on defense he's going to get his pink slip.
