  1. I look at that list and I wonder how many of those lineman would Riley would actually recruit nowadays? Styles have changed and there were many Nebraska kids that fit definite roles we don't see anymore. Some of these kids that Wyoming, South Dakota State or even Iowa have taken as of late would've fit the Osborne/Solich eras.
  2. Depends on what positions you were recruiting from within in-state? We may not be a state full of skill position players but there's a lot a tough SOB's that have been getting overlooked. We can still load up our roster with plenty of quality Nebraska lineman imo. OL, TE, DT, DE and LB's for sure.
  3. I'm not sure if Nebraska would ever hire Bohl but with that said I don't care if he isn't flashy... he is a blue collared hard nosed football coach. We would definitely be physical and tough for sure. Talking about Nebraska in-state talent, Bohl has some very good Nebraska talent on his roster now at Wyoming. Kids that we don't always deem worthy now but probably would've been takes by Osborne and his system.
  4. Not to mention Kelly does not like to recruit. I think Moos is a very good fit for Nebraska. He just seems like someone that would be a good fit for not only the University but the people of Nebraska in general. Like that he said he's going to be visible and accessible to the fanbase and media. I actually get the sense that he enjoys that part of the job... polar opposite of Eichorst.
  5. Leach would be a good hire, just not sure at Nebraska. Not really a natural or good fit.
  6. I'm sure he could buy plenty of cattle in Nebraska.
  7. Will fit in nicely at Nebraska. Football guy with a lot of AD experience and a cattle rancher.
  8. That is key, seeing who he hires around himself. That person very well could be the next A.D. after him.
  9. He was the AD at Montana before going to Oregon. Hired Don Read who led the Grizzlies to a D1-AA National Title in 1995. This is a football AD through and through. Owns his own cattle ranch as well FYI.
  10. Leavitt is a strong likelihood of being the next Kansas State head coach.
  11. Attitude is everything imo! If you don't have the mindset that you will give 100% at all-times, that you will do things as fundamentally sound as possible or the mindset that you will never get stopped/beat on any given play... then you are going to lose more times than not when you face someone that DOES have the attitude. Those 90's Husker's were not only extremely well coached but the team as a whole had a tremendous winners/workers attitude. It goes back to what Urban Meyer rants and ravs about constantly about wanting "Fierce Competitors". Tell me, do we have a team full of fierce competitors across the roster/coaching staff?
  12. I don't think our offensive system or our defensive system as a whole are the issue. I think our move to the 3-4 was a pretty good idea but it will take a couple of years to become a well oiled machine (need the right prospects for the system). Offensively I think they style of offense is a good fit for us but this is where the issue arises. We have a system that is poorly coached and is NOT physical at all. Wisconsin... punch you in the mouth, Iowa.... punch you in the mouth, Michigan State... punch you in the mouth, Stanford... punch you in the mouth, etc. Our identity in reality is that we are relatively soft!
  13. Be Wisconsin... that should be our goal. Win the B1G West, win 10+ games and hope at times we can win the B1G title game and make the playoffs. Get to the playoffs, anything can happen. Michigan State has been a good example also.
  14. As I mentioned in another thread, I will not hammer on Diaco that much because he is coaching personnel that does not fit his 3-4 defense overall. Sure there are some pieces that fit the puzzle but there are many others that would normally not be recruited for a 3-4 defense. Not to mention this is his first year implementing this defense here. Tough to look great when players are still in the learning phase. Wisconsin has been running the 3-4 since the Andersen days. Regardless if this is their third defensive coordinator, the personnel is meant for that defense.
  15. That indeed makes a difference. If it is truly Langsdorf's offense.
  16. Bjork would be quite good imo. Has had to deal with some definite crap but still a rockstar in the industry. I know he is a Dodge City native (played at Dodge City CC & Emporia State). He would likely know Nebraska quite well. TCU's AD would also be good.
  17. I haven't been one to rail on Diaco because I don't think he can truly turn this defense around in one year. This was a full-blown system change and it not only takes time on the field but also recruiting the proper type of athletes to run this type of defense. He likely won't get the chance to run the defense with the proper personnel (Riley fired) but whatever big program that gets him next will probably be better off in the long run.
  18. Riley's "offense" isn't a issue... it is the philosophy behind that offensive system that is the problem. It is a offense you need to preach and execute at a very physical level... we don't do that.
  19. Blue-print laid before us... go get that coach! Sometimes I wonder if the right guy for Nebraska is Paul Chryst's right hand man in Joe Rudolph? Ex-Badger lineman who's coaching career started as a grad assistant at Ohio State under Tressel, was here at Nebraska for a season under Callahan and then has been a fixture at Wisconsin/Pittsburgh/Wisconsin with Chryst.
  20. I know everyone likes to bring up our overall talent level from a recruiting perspective but I don't think our recruiting has really been that bad. It has been overall coaching and mostly player development. Programs like Wisconsin are bonafide player development factories. They will take a talented kid and develop him physically and get the most out of him playing wise. That is what we need to do first and foremost... develop the talent we have to the best of our abilities. Our staff has never been confused with Urban Meyer. Are we preaching to be fierce competitors like the Osborne days?
  21. We didn't play Rutgers or Illinois tonight. Wisconsin is a real "powerful" team. They have done exactly what they have always done against us as of late... run it right down our throats! Wisconsin plays a physical style of football we once did ourselves.
  22. Well if you haven't noticed Kansas State has probably been a better program than us for a little while now. With that said Kansas State tried for Patterson last time around before Snyder came back. He was very close to taking the job but in the end decided against the move. I would still try for him though if I were Nebraska. I know he really loves Ft. Worth but maybe the Nebraska job would appeal to him?
  23. The thing is there is no home-run out there available unless you have a pipe dream of Bob Stoops or Chip Kelly. Stoops is probably retired for good but maybe a Notre Dame could "possibly" interest him and Kelly I would doubt would come here when he would have other job options that have easier recruiting (he does not like to recruit). Then any coach we are looking at probably does not check off every box. Frost is probably going to check off many of the boxes though. There are very little coaches out there that will be options that will check off the boxes better than Frost.
  24. I think 3-5 but the third win will have to come from a toss-up game imo. Truly only Illinois is a game where I think we SHOULD win.
  25. Actually Patterson is a Kansan but loves Ft. Worth. Wife's family is big down there. I would absolutely love having Gary as the head coach of Nebraska but I would hope he wouldn't run his dang Big XII spread though.
