  1. C'mon Marcus! Stick with us and get yourself to the NFL!
  2. crouch would have rendered the rbs useless. and i dont mean that in a good way. This is a ridiculous statement.... Did Crouch have Phillips, and Green behind him for 4 years? No he had Alexander, and Buckhalter for the most part.... I should point out that I'm not hating on Frazier here; he was a fantastic college QB, one of the best of all-time. However, if you allow yourself too set aside the hard feelings for Crouch, you could see that he was just as good as anyone we've ever had here.... I have seen all of them, going back to Tagge....Crouch was great...Tommie was better
  3. This is a loss....but not one that cripples the class. Best of luck to you DW. The only other thing I have to say is: NEXT!
  4. can we be done with this guy? I am tired of getting pissed off every time I see it towards the top of the board.
  5. back to Newby -- I understand all of the excitement for Taylor, but this guy should get us just as excited. I predict thunder and lightening in the forecast for Lincoln for the next few years
  6. would love to see him in Shanahan's system at Washington. He would be a 1K rusher for sure
  7. Look...nobody likes the blowouts. And it does show we are not elite yet. You have to come ready to compete in EVERY game. That said, I think we took steps forward this year. We had some very good wins against very good opponents. You cannot just look at the bad losses and not the wins against Michigan, MState, the other NU and a surprisingly good Penn State. You can't just attribute those comebacks to "luck" either. We put ourselves in position to win those games and we showed heart. We just were not consistently great. Our flashes of greatness are getting longer each year. We are on the right path. We just are not there yet. And yes, I am cautiously excited for next year. We will be frustrated in the first quarter of the year as the inexperienced players gain experience, but I think we will be surging by the end of the year. I don't, however, think we will overtake OState. They have out recruited us for a long time now - even pre-Urban.
  8. We REALLY need this kid! get him N
  9. he looks quicker on film than 5.2. His frame looks like it could hold some extra weight as well. Put this guy at the training table and in the weight room. Good "project" recruit
  10. wondering if we will give him a look at cornerback. great size and very good speed. We already have one 4* safety on board and if we whiff on our other CB recruits, might be worth a shot.
  11. +1 I agree 100% with this. Agree also, but would add that no other coaches would have been able to do any better with the amount of injuries we had on Defense. and the lack of DT talent
  12. I thought Beck called a very good (not great) game. I agree that we could have used Rex more. However, I don't think it is fair to pull out a handful of plays and complain. You could do the same thing by pulling out certain runs and passes (two to Cotton) and make Beck look like a genius.
  13. I scanned through the 2012 predictions and most early posters thought 10-2, with some hedging by saying also possible to be 8-4. Later posters mostly said 9-3. IRA FREAK wins the crystal ball award, by predicting a 9-3 season and playing Georgia in the Capital One Bowl. Pretty damn close! That said, I think we are going to have a better season in 2013. We will go 11-1, losing to Michigan. I think we go to the Championship game and lose to OSU.
  14. that, even though we had no chance to win this game (according to EVERYONE), some on this board still will whine and bitch when we don't pull out a miracle. that the back shoulder throw is impossible to defend, even if you are in good position. that TMart cannot throw a lob pass to save his life. that this team ended the season playing with heart, just as they did all season long. that we need to revamp our offensive line scheme (and coach?).
  15. Plenty of studs in Ohio and Florida to offset TX. This was to be expected with the move out of the little 12. As long as we can pull a 2-3 a year, I will be happy.
  16. Give a couple to walk-ons and hold off til next year. But a majority of those guys are heavy leaners for Nebraska from my knowledge. That didn't stop us fro losing those kinda guys before. What I don't know, and I'm sure someone else here does, is if we fill all 25 this year, with graduation, how many scholarships would we have open? If its looking like 20-25 again we are in trouble. This year's class is either not going to be filled, or will have several 'reaches' on it. And often reaches don't pan out, as our roster currently shows. If we can't get quality players in the numbers we need, its almost like self imposed penalties. remember that we can swoop in and steal a couple of recruits ourselves. Wasn't Imani Cross a last minute commit? Just because we didn't hit on a few of high profiles, doesn't mean we don't have a good plan B. I like what we are doing after the loss of Sandland with the recruiting push for Vandenburg (sp?). We could end up with a more highly rated TE here. Keep the faith people. All is not lost yet
  17. This kid's film was amazing! He reminds me of how Lawrence Phillips ran at NU!
  18. I would think a better comparison would be penalty yards per play. I would guess that today's team runs far more plays than Bob's or Tom's.
  19. I agree, but not in that order. Nothing will ever top Tommie's run, then Crouch, then Taylor. All three spectacular.
  20. Not sure if this post is serious. Bo doesn't know how big-time BCS ball works? He needs a mentor? Then he shouldn't be a HC at a major CFB program. Hire a defensive guru for a few years? Isn't Bo supposed to be a defensive guru? Hell freezes over before Bo admits his scheme isn't working and opens himself up to outside opinions. I don't see how someone can be called competent, let alone a guru when they break most of Cozgrove's bad records. Bo's defense works sometimes, but gets destroyed way too often. I think your missing the point, Cosgrove was not the head coach. I think Bo is a defensive guru if he is coaching defense only. But he's not, he's the a HC who has had to waste his time trying to teach some underqualified assistants how to do their jobs. If he so wants to always have his hand in the defensive pot, he should be a defensive coordinator. If he is currently the true DC then he's doing a half assed job because he has other things to worry about too. I have no idea if Bo will be able to make the changes necessary to be a good HC or not. That could be, but TO was able to handle the OC job and the HC job. In any case, Bo has to do something; this defense gets blown out on a regular basis. not fair to compare TO to Bo. The offenses/defenses were much less complicated during TO's time. The demands on the head coaches are completely different. The parity is completely different as well. Not meaning to demean TO or protect Bo. Just saying this is apples and oranges.
  21. It seems to me that the success/failure of the team this year was about two things: scheme and depth. Wisconsin and Ohio State out schemed us and we were never able to get over the confusion of what they were trying to do. Injuries happen to every team every year. We did not have the depth at key positions along the lines to make up for those injuries.
  22. We all knew this was going to be a difficult season. Very tough schedule. Loss of at least 3 people on the D that are playing on Sundays now. Bo is, and should be, safe for a couple of years. However, the heat is going to continue to build if he can't get past these blow outs every season. Tick Tock, coach.
  23. i agree with most of your post. However, to say the staff cannot adjust is not accurate. We adjusted in most every game we played this year. We have been a second half team all year that has made adjustments to what the opponents have done in the first half. That has been the reason for our success this year. It would be more accurate to say the staff were confused and didn't adjust properly in this game. That said, agree with the rest of your assessment, especially with the scheme. Sometimes you just need to line up and beat the guy in front of you. We are too busy trying to figure out the perfect call for each play.
  24. He had a bad game tonight. A pick six and almost another (9 yard line was as good as six tonight.) Still, T-Mart isn't the problem. The guy plays his heart out. And 95% of the time he's money. So, no. Given that Taylor had one unbelievably amazing TD run tonight, and otherwise has 5.6 yards per pass attempt, 17 runs for 36 yards, 2 INTS, a fumble loss, and taken 6 sacks, I might have to dispute your 95% of the time figure. But if look at it that way. The first INT went right through Kenny's hands. Not saying I disagree with you, because he hasn't had his best game by FAR, but the blocking has something to do with that also. tough to be a great QB when your offensive line sucks pond water! And your defense plays the ole' defense all night
