  1. Another poor comparison of Tommy, 5 dropped passes and 2 thrown away ; easily could have been 75% or more on completion rate. That does not even consider some poor route running & blocking by the line. Yes, he made some mistakes but no TOs. He is a SO and not Heisman candidate, even though some of you rate him to be.
  2. OWH reporers want us to fail. Oh did I forget they are Creighton homers!
  3. Wrong. He was not good. Luckily we've been able to winv in spite of our shortcomings at QB. Really, 5 dropped passes & 2 thrown away. S/B 80% with no TO. Granted he still needs work on the short pass. Better get use it, he will be our starter for 2 more years. Yeah, there were a lot of dropped balls last night. Fortunately NW dropped quite a few balls too. In the second half anyway. Tommy had a better passing game last night than he had against Sparty. But he did miss a couple of short passes which would have gone for good yardage. That continues to be a frustration. That's my biggest complaint. Like the screen to AA that would have gone for 6 if the pass is thrown anywhere near him. He is getting better, which tells me he is watching film & making adjustments. Last night, at times in the second half he was really making efforts to get his feet set. Thus, he got hit hard a few times.

  5. Get family off the field and let the deserved a chance to play.
  6. My understanding was that he came to Nebraska for school purposes and became a walk-on. Since he came from overseas, there might be some academic guidelines he has to meet before being a member of this team.
  7. Much better LB, than running back. He is too stiff.
  8. Agreed. Petteway wants to be a first rounder, but the fact he will be done with school will have leaning to leave.
  9. Our coaches can't recruit. You would never see a team like NC St get a commitment over teams like Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Notre Dame, or, Ohio St. The kid is from NC! Not like he went to Iowa!
  10. Stanton has far better arm than Ryker. His injury has put him behind in running and understanding the play book.
  11. What? We only lost 2 starters. We have Sinclair & Kubat who were both starters last year and Roeder, our closer is back. Not to mention a lot of young guys who seen several innings last year. Pitching could be the strength of this team.
  12. Titles, so they can get him out of the main part of the offense.
  13. You're right. It has nothing to do with our o-line getting destroyed. It has everything to do with the D-line possibly clapping to interfere with Nebraska's snapcount which is what this is all about. It's not petty at all. It's cheating if it happened. It did seem like our line was standing around a lot, which could be caused by early snaps. In the 4th qtr. we went to a faster snap count and our line did play better.
  14. 2 thinks on this stat. 1. Moore & Allen seem unsure of themselves and drop passes. Moore probably played his best game against Mich. St. 2. I don't think the reserves get enough reps with the first team, so when they do play the timing is off.
  15. I don't think I've seen him back on kickoffs all year. Maybe he has a couple times and it just wasn't kicked his way but I've never noticed him back there. The only ones I know that have been are Moore, Newby, Ameer, and KB. Agree with gbr. I remember 1 early, In order to get him involved in the offense means Beck would have to call a pass play for the middle field.
  16. I agree with this part. However, there were receivers in that "less than 20 yards down field" zone earlier in the game. Were they running routes or blocking? It appeared that the pass was not part of the game plan early. I specifically remember two plays early in the game where they were running routes. I would have to go back and rematch it and see if there were more. One of them was the roll out pass to (I think) Bell in the first quarter. The announcers even commented on Westercamp getting open in the middle but TA was locked in on Bell on the side lines. There was so few pass plays, I can't remember.
  17. Actually MSU blitz a ton early, they did a lot of run blitzing. As far as not taking the ball and the wind, its a decision. If NU scores after the RG INT its a moot point. I certainly thought they would get at least a FG out of that possession. The coaches said after the game that they did not blitz, their front 4 just man handled us.
  18. You sound like Sipple trying to place no accountability on Beck. I think B, D, and F in your list above were NOT demonstrated in Saturday's game. The adjustments made late in the game came way too late. Also, we have 2 other RB with playing time besides AA....can you tell me how often they were used in multi-back formations or a jet sweep...or any sort of rushing attack that mixed it up. Indeed TA and the O-line deserve much blame, but to suggest Beck does not is absurd. No, I don't take all blame way from Beck. The production of the offense falls on his shoulders. However, my point is, people bitch about stuff that either isn't true or different people are bitching about the complete opposite things. I'll give you another perfect example. People bitch about "Beck never uses the middle of the field in passing routes". Hmmm...does the facts support that? We have had multiple TDS over the last couple seasons on routes ran down the middle of the field. Also, if you rematch the game, there were routes being ran in the middle of the field Saturday. Now, the question is, why isn't Tommy throwing to them? Is he not comfortable with that throw? Is it that he has a hard time seeing those players as being open? I don't know the answer to that. But, to say..."Beck never uses the middle of the field" just isn't held up by facts. On the other hand there is a progression, which mainly starts with the outside. When we do use the middle it is 20+ yards down the field. We very seldom throw the slant pass. We also do not utilize our TE or Backs enough in the passing game. Due to our poor line play, we should have been throwing the quick passes before the 4th quarter. I agree with this part. However, there were receivers in that "less than 20 yards down field" zone earlier in the game. Were they running routes or blocking? It appeared that the pass was not part of the game plan early.

  20. Sam Keller & Zac Lee both spent a short stint in the NFL.
  21. Sorry, he was drafted as receiver and later moved safety.
  22. Because of our offense, Nebraska does net get good pro-style QBs. We look at athletic QBs who can run & throw in HS. Many of these players get recruited to play other positions. If we do get a pro-style QB, they are raw. Eric Crouch was drafted in the NFL in 2001-2002, but as a safety. It is the style of offense that dictates what we recruit.
  23. This is so funny how you think getting three more chances to score is a "miracle set of circumstances" and yet you seem to think that the prospect of scoring three TDs and successfully converting three consecutive 2-point conversions is somehow feasable. Had Pelini done the smart thing and gone for the 1-point conversion on each of those TDs, they would have had the oportunity to hit a game tying feild goal and at least had a shot in O.T. Wrong, with the time remaining going for 2 was the correct choice. Complaining about this is hindsight!
  24. I have been critical of Roach's speed, but he played a tremendous game and should have solidified a starting position on this year's defense.
