  1. Sure is, but language means something. Think about it, if you're living in Des Moines, and hear a buddy is moving back to your home town in Nebraska, you'd never say, welcome home, cuz you're not their to "welcome," them. I admit I'm probably letting my personal viewpoints on who gets the esteemed title of "coach," add weight that maybe others don't agree with, but... like I said, this is just my take, and I'm probably wrong. Time will tell.
  2. Been torn on what to make of Bookie's comments. My take? "What's up coach?' - Being a former athlete, you don't refer to just anyone as "coach." That informal language is generally reserved for the person you consider your personal coach. "Welcome home." - You don't welcome someone to a place you aren't already at. "Congrats on going home," or some other vernacular on par with that would be the language used to congratulate someone on going someplace you aren't. My take- for Bookie, Nebraska feels like home, he's bought in to Frost being his coach, and he's just waiting for confirmation to make it official again.
  3. So, from what I gather, current QB's are expected to Lee: Go Pro; Grad Transfer O'brien: Maybe stick around through springball then bolt if not starter Gebbia: Stick around Most feel since these three are mostly pocket passers, they may not be interested in the new offense. We do still have a top 15, 4 star, dual threat QB on the team currently working at WR and holder. Any chance Darlington makes the move back to QB? If so, is he still good enough to compete for the starting job?
  4. Ok, we suck, but wow these refs couldn't be calling a worse game. No call false start on Iowa first td, two bad call no PI, one picked up, ticky tack false start on Neb. On 4th down on 3rd quarter drive. Refs got money on the squaks? Jesus.
  5. Well on the plus side, 10 games a season, if I squint, tilt my head to the right and drink enough, I can pretend Alverez is our A.D., and we are regularly dominating Iowa and contending for BIG10 titles and top 10 finishes annually. Alcohol and imagination= a powerful combination.
  6. I dont think so, I think what we see is very similar to when Bo took over. We have talent. We have loads of talent, more than enough to win the BIG west. I wouldn't be suprised if Scott, or I mean, the right coach, wins the west in year 1, with a 9-3 or 10-4 type record. After that its just figuring out what the coach's ceiling is.
  7. Jesus, good thing Lee has a quick release. Our 6 olinemen cant stop their 4 rushers from hitting lee for more than 2 seconds.
  8. You really don't want one. Go enjoy the wedding, Nebraska isn't playing today.
  9. Am I the only one who sees holding all the time against the husker d? On their first 3rd down conversion the olineman was hugging our rush end with a hand on both the front and back numbers. Textbook holding, but no call. This happens lile every single game!
  10. Hey Cy, Love the post, as a born and bred Husker fan, I never gave two sh*ts about the Hawkeyes till I want to college there in the summer of '03. Callahan years were god awful. And within 2 weeks of football started, the Squakeyes had me rooting for them to loose every game. IMO its good you get some practice in gloating in this year, so next year when ISU beats the Hawkeyes, you can really rub it in. Until then, all they respond with is "scoreboard," or "good thing you're in the Big 12, cuz you would be 0-20 if you played the Big 10, that's right you'd lose every game twice." They don't even have a proper team name. They are hawkeyes, not hawks. Their mascot is only one part of a dumb bird.
  11. Well, I've been mostly quiet on Nebraska football this year, but anyone who had any doubts about our coaching situation just needs to look at what perennial Big 12 bottom feeder Iowa State is doing. 2nd year head coach, two wins over top five teams THIS MONTH, top 25 ranking, 6-2 record and sitting at Number 1 in their conference. That is the power of having the right coach. The head coach is the spark to the players gun powder, and I think Riley is out of flint or electrical current. Given his age, probably flint. This is exactly why another coach, preferably, Scott Frost should be leading the Huskers next year.
  12. I want to know why this game played out dang near the same as last week. Opposing offense had their way with us the whole first half, then we held them scoresless in the second. Was true this week, nearly true last week barring the garbage td that let them back into the game...
  13. So we can't run in the 4th? Bryant out so we dont trust wilbon?
  14. Hey all, in need of some help. The wife and I are going to the game today, my first in more than a decade, her first ever. She is currently breast feeding our 10 week old, and will likely have to pump during the game. Are there locations at the stadium to do that? What about the clear bag policy, the pumps don't come in clear bags? Any advice would be super helpful. Thanks all!
  15. I've been thinking about this since the new uniforms came out. It seems to me that the BIG missed out on an enormous opportunity to have Nebraska and Michigan play this year, the 20th anniversary of the 1997 National Championship teams. I would imagine that if the BIG has scheduled that game instead of Ohio State, and played into the narrative, it would have immediately been must see TV and drawn a great deal of attention to the league. I know, I know, today's teams are nothing like the '97 teams, and the game would prove nothing. But could you imagine seeing Nebraska vs. Michigan in those throwback jerseys? Would have been incredibly awesome. Anyway, missed opportunity in my view.
  16. While I wish he could make a roster somewhere, I'm not really surprised by this. How many times did we see him leave a game due to being dinged up?Less than the number of times we saw him completely sell his body out to make a catch. For every ten massive hits, usually resulting in a first down in a critical juncture of a game, he maybe left the game once or twice. This is a pretty weird complaint to make. He's not fragile. He's a team-first guy who will risk injury to accomplish team goals. Yep. Don't know how many times he got hung out to dry against Michigan State two years ago. Took three or four hits that I thought probably knocked him out of the game. Kept coming back. Yup How that hit wasn't targeting is beyond me- the dude launched himself into helmet to helmet contact. Just shows what a crappy penalty that is.
  17. Holy cow, maybe I should become an NFL scout haha... Let's hope Westy ends up there too. Rex Burkhead to sign with Patriots. http://nebraska.247sports.com/Bolt/Burkhead-signs-with-New-England-51773689
  18. What I don't understand with you guys, is pre-season we were treated to multiple articles like this, http://www.ketv.com/article/jordan-westerkamp-named-highest-graded-returning-wr-in-nation/7660563 And now because he got banged up enough to miss three games this season, suddenly he is injury prone and not worthy of being drafted? Incredible... The guy is hands down a stud, he'll be draftes lower than he should and have a heck of a career. Patriots would make hay with him all day ala Wes Welker. My hope is he ends up there and Rex Burkhead joins him off free agency. I'm not a Pats. Fan either, I just think its the best outcome for them both.

  20. We'd have a better 4th quarter w/ 2nd string offense that acted like it still wanted to play. Ps... the lack of holding calls on Maryland is completely ridiculus last play freedom was actually getting hug humped from behind as the qb fired the pass off.
  21. Did Big 10 refs just decide there is no such thing as holding unless Nebraska is doing it. The no calls all season have been infuriating.

Yup obviously they are out to get NU.

  22. I think the real question is, does Darlington stay at QB in the offseason? With POB, Lee, and Gebbia, Darlington seems to be our only true dual threat guy. Given that Riley and co have begun offering DT qb's, if they've decided that they want to keep this style of offense, Darlington might be the best guy.
  23. Pretty egregious holding calls being missed again!!! 6 seconnds in the pocket ??? My ass.
