Mike Riley has not struck me as person who would lie to a recruit. Mike got very used to being a 500 coach and now is getting his fanny whacked thinking that mentality would be ok at NU. If he (Riley) stays as HC, I guess I can find other more productive things to do on fall Saturdays next year.

I remember that game.. I was so upset.... took a while to get over it.

"getting back to respectable",,, never a sadder statement about NU football.. but I'm right there with ya brother 100%... Lets at least make the other team earn a victory over us. not just show up, run over us and leave town.

Moos begins evaluation of Husker program
San Diego Husker replied to BIG ERN's topic in Husker Football
MR has a chance at 5-7 season but he has to beat a Mediocre MN team that is less mediocre than NU (by a lot). while I hope I am wrong, I suspect Purdue was the last win of the season for NU. -
Looks like a beaten down coach.

What did we learn?....Northwestern
San Diego Husker replied to Frost Advisory's topic in Husker Football
I have learned that we have become more mediocre and less relevant in the B1G than my worst fears. I really didn't thing we could be any more mediocre than what we looked like against OSU. But Riley and crew found a way... -

Our O-line is really young both right guard and tackle are freshman (left guard and tackle are juniors I believe). even with that excuse, currently there is only one lineman on the 2018 commit list. looks like Riley is only recruiting skill players (WR etc.). He has done more damage to this program than Bill Callahan ever did. it will probably be years before NU is in the conference championship game much less relevant on the college football scene again. -
the announcer noted on TV that the O-line didn't have one senior on it, that by itself is preplexing, Not used to seeing the O-line like that. Also, I think there was only one Senior on the D line. Very young team but lots of growth potential for next season, Bring back Boyd Eply (sp?) to run the S&C?

Not defending Riley here, that right tackle is either a freshman or red-shirt freshman (and a backup to the hurt starter). But to your point, when would we ever have seen OL, gassed and being whipped at the line in TO, FS, or even BP? Heck, when would we have ever seen an underclassman starting on the o-line?

Can you believe the Purdue Boilermakers are out playing NU??????? The coaches have lost the players.. they (players) don't have their heart in the game.. just going through motions.. SAD day for Husker fans and their Beloved football program. I am freeing up the money I had set aside for the bowl, cuz we aint going to one... unless it is named the toilet bowl. -
Im ma let you finish.. but... (Mike Riley)
San Diego Husker replied to KazLong's topic in Husker Football
Just another brain damaged decision made by Harv Pearlman hired AD's. not a shocker at this point. hum.. lets see, fire a 9-3 coach (Frank and Bo) and hire a sub par coach? Harv's AD's are truly known for their football/intellectual prowess!! Can you believe we did this twice!!! no wonder everyone laughs at our program now. -
The sell out streak is in serious jeopardy!! Thanks Harvey Pearlman, you managed to kill/seriously damage your own cash cow.

Think back to when Riley was hired...
San Diego Husker replied to teachercd's topic in Husker Football
Tressel is damaged goods and no P5 conference can hire him due to his handling of OSU issues. Frost, when asked was not interested in the NU job at the time. -

Which Mike Riley loss hurt the most
San Diego Husker replied to Head Coach Scott Frost's topic in Husker Football
interesting topic, but not very relevant, they all hurt bad.. -
If they Terminate Riley, it will come from the President of the university and not the acting AD. Not sure any terminations will happen until a new AD is announced. Would be nice if Trev Albert's changed his mind about the NU Lincoln job.

Ohio State Game....What Did We Learn?
San Diego Husker replied to Hayseed's topic in Husker Football
My Guess is that if Riley goes, Tanner opts for the NFL. Tanner came here because of Riley not because he loved NU. At this point, I guess it is all collateral damage from Harvey Pearlman's miss-management and incompetence.
