  1. Speak for yourself. This above ^ ^ ^ post was brought to you by the JJHusker1 Look At The Cute Husker Ass In My Profile Bowl. Jumpin' Jesus on a Pogo Stick, that *is* a cute Husker ass. I'd take credit for it but, it's not mine (either actually or figuratively)
  2. I think it would be a good idea for somebody to start a poll to vote on the worst bowl name. I tried and don't know what the heck I'm doing apparently. Only problem is, the poll will have to include at least 6+ names because most of them are pretty sad. As bad as the Belk Bowl may sound, can it get much worse than the San Diego Co. Credit Union Poinsetta Bowl. Sounds like a low level sponsor of some boondocks 8 man HS football team. Or Gildan....WTF some cheap a$$ t-shirt manufacturer. This sponsorship thing is waaaay out of hand.
  3. Equally among all conference members. Don't the participating teams get to take a little extra off the top of their particular bowl payout to cover the added expenses of actually playing in the game?
  4. I agree the mobile QB has me more than concerned. Some of my post was done in the hope of seeking validation that we have a fair chance (no your comments didn't help) and the rest was to attempt a positive outlook since I'm pretty down on how we've performed this season.
  5. Well now that the nounage has been taken care of, back to the thread title subject. I have not watched USCe play one down this year so I went to look at their schedule and stats. I must say I was not overly impressed with their schedule. Figured coming out of the SEC they would've had a killer gauntlet to get through but simply looking at the game scores and opponents, I am a lot more hopeful with our chances. I saw 2 fairly high quality wins; Georgia 45-42 and Clemson 34-13 and one quality loss, Arkansas 28-44. There were quite a few games that surprised me that SC didn't get more points on the board or a wider MOV- East Carol 56-37, Navy 24-21, Vandy 21-3, Miss St 14-12, Tenn 14-3, Florida 17-12, Citadel 41-20, and of course the loss to Auburn 13-16. Based on scores alone, it would appear that the SC defense is the real deal and did improve as the season went along but the offense does not seem very productive against some teams that quite frankly I would not be worried in the least for the Huskers to face. This should bode well for our suspect defense but not so well for our offense. I'm thinking a fairly tight game in the high teens to low 20's.
  6. Ya, those away games at Wisconsin and Michigan were great games by us. I stand corrected- we didn't play very good away or at home. But our 2 worst games were on the road (and no I don't consider Northwestern one of the 2 or 3 worst games we played) Maybe the key will be a neutral site. Hopefully.
  7. In what universe was our D Line our strength? This year, even when Crick was healthy, our D line was more of a liability than an asset.
  8. That reminds me of the shot when the alien walks by the kids party in the movie "Signs". Sorry can't get it to post.
  9. Our university was established AND played football well before Southern Cal. Part of their douchebaggery is stealing the USC from us. We have ALWAYS called South Carolina USC, and here on the east coast when someone says USC, no one thinks of the Lane Kiffin operated remedial football program. Thank you for listening sorry but ask anyone outside the east coast area and nobody thinks of South Carolina as USC. Sort of agree but I do relate USC to South Carolina as well. It depends on the context. I think we can get used to it for the next month since it is apparent. I'm used to that sort of thing though. Our local University of Northern Colorado goes by UNC and we all know who comes to mind first there. I doubt either USC fanbase correlates UNC with anyone other than North Carolina. I'm good with anything that detracts from the abomination that is SoCal.
  10. I don't know John Papuchis from a hole in the ground but, if the way our D Line played this year is any reflection of how he coaches, then I think he should not only NOT be the next DC but should be removed from D Line coaching as well. It's possible that our problems have just been players or scheme but something needs to change for the better in that area. Now if he is DC in name only and Bo calls the shots, then that might work. Regardless we need to do something way different with the D line in the future, preferebly within the next month.
  11. I'm ok with that. For whatever reason (maybe it's the whites) we seem to play better on the road and the site is much closer to SC than Nebraska. They're #9 and we're #20, they should be the home team team.
  12. I'm good with those first 2 words but I don't think there is any need/desire to be able to use cocktastic. edit- dang it works......
  13. I'm sure someone else can you give you a better analysis but this is my try. Dennard can probably shut down whoever he is on but other than that, we may struggle. Our front 3 or 4 do not generate any rush/pressure so, unless we blitz, your guy will have all day to find a receiver. Our other DB's have shown improvement through the season but still show some signs of bad mechanics/fundementals in coverage. We have done pretty good at limiting big pass plays but it will depend how well your QB can extend the play and if your WR's keep working. The thing that worries me most may be disparate measures of speed. When you say your guys aren't blazing fast but may be quick enough for slower defenses, I don't know if we're on the same page or not. My gut tells me we may be a little on the slow side compared to SEC speed. Bo does seem to scheme very good for bowl games though. Don't let last years Holiday Bowl fool you. That was simply a game nobody wanted to play. edit- If your QB is mobile and not afraid to get outside the pocket and run, you'll probably tear us a new one.
  14. New Years Day is on a Sunday this year. There's this little thing called the NFL that kind of controls football on Sundays.
  15. You can do that right here on Huskerboard. Just look up all Bo sucks & replace Bo threads then substitute Bob for Bo, Stoops for Pelini, and 9-3 record for 9-3 record, and well there ya go.
  16. Well that just goes to show ya the value of receiving a degree from KU. Or maybe your friend had been in the bar a little too long.
  17. That is pretty good perspective. I have been saying for weeks that, to have that really special season or run of years, it takes more than a coach or a handful of players. It also takes luck, team chemistry, and timing that can't be timed. This wasn't our year, much the same as it wasn't Oklahoma's. But try to tell that to irrational fans who believe programs change direction on a dime based on the name of your HC. You could fill pages and pages on some online forum arguing that. Edit- I just realized that a program can change on a dime with sufficient change. We've experienced that. I will amend my claim to; it is tough to change for the better in an arbitrary 4-6 year period of time.
  18. Kansas State is in a BCS bowl possibly? I can't wait until bizzaro world ends and we can get back to the way it is supposed to be... Further proof that when the elements of Pederson and Callahan are combined the space-time continuum is irrevocably altered. The upside is that NU may have a basketball program someday.
  19. Seems the name Tebow IS polarizing even when you stipulate.....
  20. I would say all three are fairly bad. At least bad enough that I would expect to win those three in a row. If we couldn't do it, it would only mean we're also not very good. On 2nd thought, we probably wouldn't beat those three in a row this year.
  21. This. I miss knowing we could gain 3 yards right up the gut even when the other knew that's what we were gonna do.
  22. All I know is the OP claimed that we couldn't recruit guys like Lampley then someone else mentioned David, Burkhead, Fonzie, & Crick, then somebody said that wasn't fair. You're right, we need the names of three more studs for Southern Miss before it's fair. Other teams will recruit talented guys. You can't simply name a few guys from any team and use that as proof we can't recruit. BTW, the way Crick played early this year, proved that it probably didn't hurt us too much when we lost him for good.
  23. That's funny, I like Tebow and am somewhat of a Broncos fan since I live in Colorado but "being someones Tebow" seems beneath Superman or Chuck Norris. How about Rex is our Burkhead? I go back to Jeff Kinney days and considering I went to UNL when Rozier played, Rex is my all time favorite Husker RB. I won't say the best because he wasn't fortunate enough to have the Oline others did but he is def my favorite.
  24. Like the B1G a lot. Pros - No PPV & all games televised - No Texass and no longhorns and no burnt orange and no Buffs -Fewer easy opponents to roll should make us better in the long run -Culture seems to match better -Much better for the University (money, prestige, research, etc) -I have always had quite a bit of respect for Big Ten schools. I look forward to some of that growing while some are bound to turn towards bitter rival hatred. Cons -Some behavorial things at some of the B1G venues. I'll reserve full judgement until I experience them myself. -I will miss Oklahoma games and really not much else from the Big 12 -Probably gonna have to get used to getting upset by mid to lower level teams more often (i.e. Northwestern) but paybacks should be fun.
