      Just FYI, but as somebody who didn't vote for Clinton (or Trump), I find the repeated accusation of it was how the emails were handled which prevented me from voting for her rather annoying. If you want to grow the Democratic Party, that is not how you do it.

      Our representatives have shown again and again they are very eager to spend lavishly on the DoD in order to be able to kill people efficiently, but are very reluctant to spend money on healthcare in order to care for people. What an ugly society we have become.

      We should go back to the roots of the 2nd amendment and recognize that gun ownership is not protected outside of saying that states have the right to form well-regulated, armed, militias.

      We took the opportunity a couple of summers ago to stop at many of the locations in the deep south where the events of 50 years ago took place. It was a memorable experience, and one that the kids still bring up from time to time.

    How about we just stop playing the National Anthem at all these sporting events? Keep it at the high school level and maybe a few of the big events like CFB championship game, Superbowl, world seris and call it good.

      .. Maybe the song doesn't resonate with people the way it once did - it's a very different time now than when it was written. Personally I would welcome a national discussion to replace it with something different that expresses more closely what the ideals of our time are.

      I'd be strongly in favor of reducing the occasions for which the anthem is sung. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, it has become a somewhat contrived and trite ritual. I can remember as a kid (several decades ago) going to events where the anthem usually wasn't performed, it was actually sung by the audience, and most would actively participate. While that still happens now to some extent, it is seems to be different than how I remember it from back then. Maybe the song doesn...
