  1. Wisconsin will be interesting because they will have just gone through a month of brutal games. They will either be winnable or riding so much momentum they could be looking at playoffs. Ohio State? Luke Fickell isn't the head coach anymore.
  2. I feel ashamed i was so against the hire and his first season. Since things started turning around last year he has won me over in more ways then one. I knew he was a great guy and the whole 'nice guy' deal with his years at Oregon State. Riley is showing that he is a good football coach, and can win games when given the talent and resources, but most of all Riley has proven throughout his career that is a great man. GBR and Go Coach Riley.
  3. An extremely interesting statement. The Heisman right now is all Lamar Jackon's, however if they fall to Clemson then have a few more losses he may be forgotten from the September hype. Meanwhile, if Armstrong can at least get us to 8-0 and head into Ohio State week unbeaten, the heisman spotlight MAY be on him? Depending on how he finishes out the year he could get invited to New York, although I think Nebraska has to be a top 12 team for that to happen come seasons end. Unless Nebraska goes to the playoff, I don't see Armstrong having a shot to win it. An invite would be great though.
  4. Lunt and Lovie concern me a little, especially since they had an extra week to prepare. However, given that Illinois beat us last year and I am sure that is on the players and coaches minds, along with this being homecoming I give the edge to Nebraska. I see a game similar to Northwestern. We will make some mistakes that keep points off the board, but overall we control this game and win. Nebraska 31 Illinois 17
  5. It won't mean much if we lose to Ohio State the next week, unless we can win the conference. It will definitely be a let down if we beat Wiscosnin, improve to 8-0 and then lose to Ohio State. But if we go into the horse shoe and compete and give Ohio State a close game, although I am not one for moral victories, at the very least it shows this program and team is heading in the right direction. Why? Because for one we one a ranked non conference game, and we kept it close to one of the conference and national powerhouses which in the last 15 years we would have gotten blown out and embarrassed on national television. This then gives us hope for revenge in the CCG in a rematch. If Nebraska comes away from this season with a 10-2, or 11-3 record I will be extremely happy. Because not only would that say we had a good year and we turned it around after a dreadful year 1 under Riley of 6-7, but it shows this program is heading in the right direction because it will only get stronger.
  6. Yeah the Wisconsin game then the Ohio State game will be very telling on where this team is. So far I am highly pleased beacuse we cant be better then 4-0. Wisconsin may be demoralized after their brutal stretch of October by the time they play Nebraska, or they may be hungry for a win, or they may be the #2 team in the country, if Nebraska beats Wisconsin and battles a close one vs Ohio State I will say Nebraska wins the division and rematches the Buckeyes in the B1G title game, where as long as we dont get hosed 70-34 I will say we are at the beginning stages of being back. Regardless, so far you have to love the improvement and changes from this staff. They are showing they are dedicated to winning.
  7. Some team is going to get a heck of a coach.
  8. Oh I will add that I also learned we have 3 solid RB's.
  9. Learned that we left possibly 14 points on the board and still won convincingly. Learned yet again that this coaching staff makes good adjustments at halftime on both sides of the ball. Learned that Nebraska made some self inflicting mistakes yet still won convincingly.
  10. Shoot I should have read this thread and posted my post in here from the thread that talked about us being ranked 15th. I think Nebraska would be just inside the top 10 at that point, just looking at the other teams that would lose ahead of them and if Nebraska kept winning i think #9 would be very likely. Wiscosnin probably a #2; however, easily deserving of a #1 ranking. College Game day absolutely would be there. Now the question on how Nebraska would do. I do feel we SHOULD be 7-0 going into the Wisconsin game given we have Illinois (Revenge for us), Indiana, and Purdue (revenge for us). And we have a BYE week in there. Wisconsin at the end of that gauntlet could be physically and mentally exhausted and wore down. It could be a great opportunity for Nebraska to capitalize off of.
  11. It was fun yesterday watching other top 25 games and hoping certain ones lost to give Nebraska a little extra spot in the polls. It has been awhile since I had done that. Looking at the schedule there is no reason we should not be 7-0 going into that showdown with Wisconsin. I will hold judgement on how I think that game will go as Wisconsin has an absolute brutal October and will either come into that game looking like national title contenders (if they are able to win all those games), or have gotten better and learned from their losses and be hungry for a win, or completely physically and mentally exhausted from that gauntlet of games to where Nebraska should have the upper hand. But this being ranked thing is fun and a top 15 team is even better. This team has a different edge to them then in recent years. This also looks like a team that can back up a 15th ranking compared to some Nebraska ranked teams in recent years. I remember when we were 9th, but really did not feel like a 9th ranked team probably because we all knew that once we played a team with a pulse that placed us in a difficult situation we were probably not going to respond well.
  12. Speaking of Oregon, I may be a bit concerned we only beat the Ducks by 3.
  13. With the fall of Oregon, maybe too comes the fall of all these uniform combinations. I get it, recruits like them, but majority of the time they are ridiculous.
  14. Lets win all the games leading up to the Ohio State game.
  15. Exactly. Oregon will usually go for 2 on the first TD, get it and then it sets the tone for the rest of the game. Thankfully Helfrich appeared to be desperate in being more crazy then Chip Kelly and went for 2 way too many times. Had Oregon stuck to their typical routine, I think it changes the mindset of the entire game. Instead of 20-14 at half, it is 22-14 at half and Oregon has that mental edge over Nebraska. I don't know what Helfrich was thinking. Oregon got far too arrogant in their play calling and it cost them. Good for them, good for Nebraska.
  16. If we blow out Northwestern I will be highly satisified. Northwestern IMO is not as bad as their record indicates, and it is the first road game of the season. GBR!!
  17. Bingo. Plus Nebraska coming off one of the biggest wins in recent years. Just need to stay focus and come away with a W.
  18. Turning point will be going undefeated into the Wisconsin game, winning the Wisconsin game. This sets up a huge game vs Ohio State, that I don't see as a win, but if we can play the Buckeyes close, it gives us a chance to be optimistic in the B1G title game for revenge.
  19. He did look slower at times in the open on Saturday, but then again I think he was playing with two pulled hamstrings. Dude was beat up but fought through it like a straight warrior.
  20. He's got a nice swagger about him and is trying his best to back it up. Each game he has a few hits to remember. I have re watched that play over and over and am amazed every time.
  21. It's also Westerkamps home, which he said there might be 100 people from his family/friends alone. That place is going to be more then 50% red.
  22. It's 2nd and 20, and Oregon is starting to march down the field, Prukop rolls out of the pocket and throws it deep to one of Oregon's best WR's Charles Nelson, who is open. K. Williams gets there just in time and knocks the ball away, prevent Oregon from either scoring the go ahead TD, or putting them inside the 5 yard line with 55 seconds left. Blackshirt moment.
  23. It definitely won't come easy and there is a chance for a huge let down. But here are factors I see that help Nebraska maintain focus and win this game they are suppose to win. -Wearing decently looking alternate uniforms. (I hate changing uniforms, but after a big win like Oregon and going to face a underachieving team in NW, keeping players focused might actually work with silly uniform changes) -First road game of the year. However, these two things could also be a reason we lose. Players think they are so flashy with the new unis and coming off a huge win that they can just walk out there and win. And it's also the first road games of the season which can be tough.... Crap.......don't know, just win!
  24. You don't even have to look at the "quality" of wins to notice there is something changing for the positive within this program. This team looks pretty darn good, and the future looks bright seeing the incoming recruiting class. Not to mention our young players are talented. The players are having fun and winning games. The win vs Oregon was huge because these were the type of games we lost over and over and over again for the past decade. I couldn't be more optimistic about this team for the rest of the year and this program going forward.
