We have definitely been challenged more so than Michigan. Which plays to our advantage, IMO. However, if they had our schedule, they’d be 5-1 right now with a loss to OU. They wouldn’t have choked against Illinois and MSU. So, who knows? Anything can happen. I think NU will win though. I think the environment will play a huge factor and I think for once NU gets a signature win under HCSF. This 100% reminds me of the 2012 home game vs Wisconsin.

I get all that what I’m saying is any scheme will work with the right Jimmy’s and Joe’s. All the other stuff you mentioned is coaching. To run Frost’s/Oregon triple option you have to have speed. My concern is trying that against teams who have players of equal or more speed. The Michigan’s, Ohio State’s, any top 25 P5 team. It worked wonders at Oregon however they always struggled with Stanford who runs an old school big ten style power run offense and stop the run defense. That’s where I think HCSF triple option may struggle against. We have few burners on offense to do it. If anyone focuses just on 2AM and takes him out of the equation, I think we will have problems executing it consistently in this conference.

Any scheme or wrinkle works great when you have the right personnel to work with. I find it may be tougher to run that hybrid triple option against faster defenses because NW is/was bad so I’m not getting too hyped up over it like most folks.

I think our defense plays lights out. Better than they did vs NW. The game will be very close for nearly 4 quarters but eventually we’ll find a way to execute and score. I can see our offense getting a score midway through the fourth and then sealing it with a final td drive with less than 5 min to go taking a 14 pt win. 24-10 Huskers. We’ll be the best 4-3 team in the nation ranked #25 while Harbaugh will be on the #1 coaches hot seat.

He’s not wrong. History has shown this. They haven’t played anybody decent this year yet. Untested. They may very well be walking into a buzz saw Saturday night. This is not the same Nebraska team they whipped a couple years ago.

This will come down to field position and turnovers. Two areas I don’t like our chances in TBH…

I don’t think Frost’s offense will or can work at Nebraska. The proof is in the pudding. Seems to me the offense I described has put Wisconsin, Iowa, NW, MN into the B1G championship games. But the real major difference is those teams had studs on the OL whereas we don’t or at least “not yet” but we “are so close.”

Not just his staff need to go he also needs to overhaul his entire scheme. I think just being a traditionally power run/balanced huddle up team would work well in the B1G since we out recruit the entire west division. Everyone runs no huddle spread. Time to go back to the basics and run snaps from under the center.

If his name was Mike Riley or anyone else you’d be convinced he needs to be fired. But because his name is “Frost” we’re “so close”. Pathetic. 4 years of this trash staff and you still haven’t seen enough to make a judgement call? Week zero was a massive red flag/precursor to this season.

Age may be a factor in this situation though. With Trev as AD I’m not sure he’s the guy that would actually pull out all the stops to hire a big name guy. I think without a bowl, Frost is let go. This time it will be about wins and losses. 4 straight losing seasons is enough to get any head coach fired. My mind says go out and pony up for an elite coach. My instincts tell me we’re gonna end up with a lower tier FBS HC who is rising through the ranks.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. Programs fire coaches all the time when it’s not trending in the right direction. USC is in the same boat as us. Sounds like they might hire Eric Bieniemy. That’s a splash hire. Money talks. NU can hire anyone they want. Maybe Urban Meyer quits Jacksonville and he falls in our lap (lol).

They do, it’s just not always caught on camera. I saw Jurgens help him up a few times. I would prefer the OL got nastier anytime their QB is sacked or hit hard but they sometimes look like they don’t care.

You can put Ahman Green back there and he’s going to average less than 3 ypc too. Offensive line needs serious coaching and development. They’ve had 4 years to do this and we’re not moving forward.

Stoops is happily retired. Chris Petersen stepped away from coaching because it started to weigh on him. Zac Taylor might be the first NFL head coach to be fired this season. I do think we need some elite recruiters though but we need an elite head coach. You do need a big name. I like Gus Malzahn.

And that falls on the coaching staffs shoulders then, right?

Exactly. In this conference, the teams that don’t make mistakes usually win. Something this program hasn’t learned since we joined the B1G. It’s the same old mistakes. Rinse and repeat. I’ve seen enough to know that our defense like you said may be good enough to keep us from being embarrassed on the scoreboard, but offense and ST will continue to blow it.

Oh, I’ll continue to watch this team shoot themselves in the foot and Scott Frost put on his best Bill Callahan impersonation to defend his awful record. I’ll watch us continue to get embarrassed week in and week out expecting a different outcome when I know one won’t come because this team is being led by a coaching staff that is a straight up s#!t show. Do you really think outside of NW and Purdue we are going .500? If so, I’ll have whatever you’re having.

After this game, I wouldn’t be surprised if the defense has a collapse and we don’t win another game. The offense is so inept and poor eventually that is going to rub off on the other side of the ball, IMO. Purdue and NW maybe we win but that’s 4-8. I think Frost is shown the door once bowl eligibility is eliminated.

When the NCAA completes their investigation? Who knows? This team has zero accountability. It’s all rah rah bulls#!t.

Offensive line is a joke. We can’t run effectively. We have guards pulling and blocking people from behind, wtf? Tackles don’t protect well and allow too many sacks. Martinez misses wide open reads too many times. I’m not sure how you constantly overthrow someone who is almost 7 feet tall. Special teams have cost us 2 losses now. Frost needs to go. I think he’s a terrible coach who’s very overrated and overpaid. Defense is decent. Once again they were just put in horrible situations but when it matters most they fold. Players and coaches keep looking at each other for answers. This team has no real leader and no accountability for mistakes. HCSF is 4 years too late to fire assistants now. Unfortunately, it seems inevitable that Trev Alberts is going to be convinced to clean house. We can’t continue to put a poor product on the field like this. No way we get to a bowl this year. We will be lucky to finish 5-7. Either way no bowl, Frost has to go.

I just know we’re gonna lose. Our collective minds if we don’t win.

I just want a win when that final whistle blows whether it’s by 1 point or 35 points. We need to win a conference game to build some confidence going into the remainder of our schedule.

Why do we do this? We always set standards and bars to meet. Just focus one game at a time. The beauty of CFB is anything can happen. Teams either fold or rally. We’ll never know unless we let things play out each week. And each week presents a different challenge. This is neither a signature win or signature loss that defines the season. One. Game. At. A. Time.
