  2. I didn't reference him in any way? Some of us ignore the ranting on that monstrosity of a thread.
  3. I think it sure makes sense for him to take a hard look at the job. Big power 5 money and in a recruiting hot spot.
  4. Interesting point of view from one of our legends; https://t.co/M8RuzqqFY4
  5. Most likely to least likely finishes for the NU in my opinion; 1-3 (most likely-no bowl game) 3-2 (very possible- finishing 2-2 and then winning bad bowl game with interim coach) 3-2 (finishing 3-1 and then losing bad bowl game with current coaching staff) 0-4 (Pretty unlikely but possible) 4-1 (Really unlikely- going 4-0 then losing decent bowl game) 5-0 (c'mon man... no way)
  6. Not likely but it would make for a heck of a come back story... movies would be made and we would be the bad guys that almost ruined it lol.
  7. NW will key on our passing game and their D line is weaker than Purdue. I can see us rushing for 200+. Deciding factor will be our secondary. Can we stop the pass? NU 27 NW 20 Take NU for the cover imo.
  8. I learned that in down times, watching Nebraska play Purdue can make for a pretty entertaining night. This Purdue team isn't good but they have shown to be a pretty salty opponent this season. Wisconsin struggled to beat them... Congrats to the boys- 2 more to go for bowl eligibility. GBR
  9. Lee has been impressive even though our O-line isn't doing him any favors. Kudos to the coaching staff for sticking with him. 4 weeks ago most of the fans on here were ready to throw him to the wolves.
  10. I missed this thread- thanks.
  11. As stated... I'm no expert and not making any excuses or saying he should stay. Read my original post for my point. I am just pulling for the boys to turn it around, regardless of what happens with the coach. It would make for a pretty cool story and football could be fun again sooner rather than later.
  12. Isle of view- here you go;
  13. I have pondered that a lot. I would like to think I'm an expert but in reality I'm just a guy who loves to watch football on Saturdays. The fact that half of our starting team didn't have an offer from any other P5 school makes me think maybe we aren't seeing what is possible under Riley. That said, I do hate what we are seeing on the field this year. But, if he can turn it around, I would sure be excited to see that.
  14. I don't expect it but I'm still one of the guys in the back of the room hoping Riley wins 4 of the next 5 and is given another year.... It would be fun to see this team turn a corner and start performing. GBR
  15. Nebraska wins by 17+... I get my limit of Pheasants on public ground within 30 minutes of Lincoln. Either happening has about the same probability... but it could happen.
  16. I would be very disappointed if he was the next Nebraska coach... no thank you.
  17. "Wow.....I hope you don't bet, but if you do and this is how you bet I'm sorry for your pocketbook. I bet you do well for your bookie. Not for you, just for him..." Not sure what you mean- Vegas regularly slides point spreads for home games and time of day. Crowds are more into games the longer they have to lubricate. As far as trying to put me down for my view point- eat it. I am 14-9 on the year for the games I have picked against the spread.
  18. If played on a neutral field this game would be a push or Nebraska would have a slight edge. Purdue gets a field goal for being at home and another for the night game atmosphere. Nothing to react to imo... we both stink this year.
  19. The above article was tagged onto an Omaha World Herald article in the comment section. The person claimed it was real- no clue if they were telling the truth but it does fit the attitude at that frame in time. I personally believe Riley would "improve" if given more time. I'm however not convinced that his level of improvement would get us back to where we want to be. I don't believe we will ever know that answer though. As a father I do like what Riley represents so wish him the best going forward and will be in the stands cheering the boys on the rest of the year. GBR
  20. Kind of a fun read from the past... Obviously the situation is different but it's interesting to read how much perspectives can change with time. "January 2, 1979Nebraska: Is it time for a coaching change (1979 version)?By Samson McKettlecornBugeater Daily NewsIf you are a Husker fan, you have a Sooner wishbone hangover this morning. Again. But this year it seems like a strange dream in which you swear that your beloved Huskers beat the Oklahoma Sooners on Friday this year, sparing you from choking on that proverbial wishbone the day after Thanksgiving for the sixth year in a row. But the dream is real, and Coach Tom Osborne’s first win against the Sooners as head coach seems a moot point after drawing the Sooners for a rematch in the Orange Bowl – and losing. But let’s be positive, the Huskers did beat them in November, when they came to Lincoln ranked #1 in the nation! Yes, the Sooners fumbled six times. Yes, it looked like the Sooners won even though they didn’t. Yes, Billy Sims made our defense look like a 8-man Nebraska high school defense were trying to tackle him. If this Sooner-domination of the Huskers continues, it may become Sooner Magic. Yikes.Let’s assess the state of the football program. After starting this decade with two national championships, the already legendary Bob Devaney passed the reigns to his protégé, Coach Osborne. It’s worth noting, he did so with a championship staff and recruiting classes that come from back-to-back national titles.First six years of Coach Osborne? Lots of wins, yes. The competition? Well… OK, so it’s not just Oklahoma that has the Cornhuskers number; so does Missouri. Four losses to the Tigers in the past six contests. Ouch. The truth is that most Husker faithful agree: The losses to Missouri feel like someone just stole our combine tires; the losses to Oklahoma feel hopeless. Perhaps loosing six of seven to the Sooners is enough. How many more Oklahoma (or Missouri!) losses are needed before we realize that Tom Osborne is not Bob Devaney? What if a change is needed now? What if?"
  21. If they make the decision for him, there is almost no accountability. What coaches are employed rests fully on the AD's shoulders. At a minimum, the AD needs to be very comfortable with the "suggestions" made by the University and the boosters when it comes to hires. Why else pay this person the kind of money that we do? Heck, we wouldn't even need someone qualified if they don't have to make decisions. Just hire some pretty young woman who can just be the talking piece for the media...smh.
  22. Very true. The "we" needs to be someone the new AD is willing to gamble his career on. Such a weird position the AD holds... placing 100% of your career in the hands of someone else who may or may not be willing to do what you ask.
  23. Does Riley get another year if we win out? I think he does... and I'm torn whether I like that or not.
  24. Coaching searches are simple- 3 lists... 1- Who do we want to hire list. 2- Who is willing to come here list. 3- Who are the regents and Booster willing to support. Hire the best guy out of the ones that appear on all three lists.
