Some of those "head scratching decisions" weren't on him if you look at the film. Have a receiver run the wrong route and the QB looks terrible... I do agree with the shorter leash statement but I think AM takes too much of the blame.

Good chance the weather is absolute crap for that 9th game. I like our chances against an Indiana caliber team in December.

I think 5-3 is very possible this year with most wins on the backend of the schedule. The weather will get worse as the season goes on and we, hopefully, will be much better at running the ball this year. With an experienced line, good blocking ends, and better perimeter blocking, I like our chances against everyone but Ohio State and Penn State.

It would be challenging to have patience right now imo. He just lost his dad. He is dealing with Covid football. Reporters are doing their best to get the best tidbit they can to earn clicks from poor saps like us. Meanwhile he is trying to prepare his team to play a national championship caliber team 1st game out of the gate. He gets a pass from me if he is " a little less forgiving".

When we actually play a game. I wouldn't count anything as a guarantee this year until it actually happens.

Annual walleye fish fry is scheduled but invited fewer people with Covid. Will probably only have 10-15 adults and a dozen kids. Plenty of beer and mixed drinks. No high expectations for the game. Just hope for a good day with good friends.

To add, Smothers won't be a freshman until 2022. I agree, the transfer portal will be on fire. I do think Nebraska benefits but I can see the greatest benefit going to slightly lower level teams. All the transfers will struggle to find quality spots imo.

Spielman's production is a loss but if he wasn't mentally on board with the current direction of the program, or to even play football going forward, then we are much better without him. He hasn't exactly been producing much at TCU. If Manning isn't the guy then one of the good young recruits behind him will be. Culture is much more important than one star.

It was a stretch and easy for us to scoff at in hindsight. In reality, USC wanted him to replace Pete but OSU signed him to a pretty good contract and kept him there. Prior to that, the NFL even gave him a chance. People who knew the game obviously thought he could coach. I don't think Riley really wanted to leave but when they had a rough season, and Nebraska came calling, it was his best move from a financial standpoint. It wasn't a good fit obviously but I think Riley's best coaching days were behind him at that point.

Rumor I heard was he was referring to Manning but I have nothing to back it up. The source is typically credible but he wasn't 100%. Slightly more than pure speculation so take it for what it is.

Watching TCU vs Texas today. He has a few ok returns but otherwise he has been a non factor in the game.

When will whinny, unrealistic fans take the time to actually watch what's going on and actually listen to what's being said? No excuses have been given for anything. Frost, and the rest of the Nebraska adminstration, fought hard just for the opportunity to play. He is a big reason the B1G, and several other conferences, are even getting a chance to play this fall.

Travis Fisher says newcomer Nadab Joseph is doing great. "He jumped right in the pot with the rest of the guys. The relationship is going good." All about playing catch up now. SMH, the guys used to have to hide the pot

Not making excuses for Bo (I found the situation funny as hell), however this year is as tough as it gets on coaches imo. The limited contact, uncertainty, players sitting out, etc... all made their jobs a lot harder on defense especially. Offenses, and passing in particular, didn't miss near as much. In fact, QB receiver practices had more prep time than ever. I think all coaches will get some free passes this year when things don't look quite right.

Seriously? It is nowhere near "dead even". 23 wins is a significant lead in 15 years. During that 15 year stretch, they have 6 seasons with 11 wins. Nebraska has zero. During that 15 years, they had a better record 11 times. During the same period, they have 7 bowl wins to our 5 and they missed out on 2 years of bowls due to sanctions. I am a Nebraska fan but it is clear Penn State has been the significantly better program over the last 15 years. Prior to 2005, we were a dramatically better program than they were.

Takes a lot of guts to tell your story in the hopes that it inspires others. This is a good read and worth the few minutes of your day. Kudos to Mills #respect.

My BIL sure thinks so. I have read the occasional article on his account but refuse to pay for sports news/perspectives. Faux Pelini articles on there are sometimes great though- almost worth paying for.
