  1. I typically either park at Big Red Keno and ride one of their three buses or I park at the baseball field and walk over the bridge. It's not a far walk and the parking is fairly cheap. If you want to be in the Hay Market for a few hours leading up to game time, don't do the Big Red Keno bus as they try to keep people there for tailgating longer before the game. I would recommend going early though- it will be pretty busy by 8am that day.
  2. The biggest gain is the defense likely wouldn't have someone back to return the punt- allowing you to pin them deep if executed. I don't like the idea but fun to think about.
  3. Love the amount of optimism in this thread. I am excited for the season and the progress that has been made but seriously folks, pump the brakes. We do not have proven starters at some positions and we have very little proven depth. An 8 win season would be success and a 9 win+ season would be a fantastic coaching job and probably worthy of coach of the year accolades for Frost.
  4. Ehhh. I think the Badgers roll by 14+. But I wouldn't put money on it.
  5. Agree- that was weird. I guess they did legalize more than just cannabis there.
  6. Those of you with nerves, go back and watch the game last year. Take away fumbles on the first two drives that turned into 14 points for them and we would be up 20-30 points at the half. We dominated them but made many errors. That was our first game of the year and Colorado's 2nd. It was also our first game in the system, the first for AM etc... This game won't be close. NU45 CU17
  7. Nebraska by 2+ scores minimum. I honestly hope we get the chance to run up the score and let our backups get some early road experience. Not that it will feel much like a road game with close to 50% red in the stadium.
  8. He is special but I guess I don't view him as one of those guys that is the difference between winning or losing a game or two this year. Maybe I'm wrong but I think we have enough weapons on our offense to score plenty of points if he can't be on the field. If he was the same type of talent on defense, I would view his presence or lack of much more important.
  9. Talked to a group of friends over lunch today. All of us have been Husker Fans since the late 80s. I asked them if we could only guarantee one win between Wisconsin and Colorado, the answer was unanimous - Kick Colorado's butt.... and run the score up. You switch Colorado for Texas or Oklahoma and answers would likely differ but the reality is Wisconsin just isn't to that level yet with a good portion of our fan base. They have embarrassed us a couple times but so have a lot of other over the same period of time. I think it is difficult to consider anyone a rival until you are good. When you're bad, (like Baylor was back in the day and like we have been recently) you just struggle to develop the strong emotions necessary to build an opponent up to rivalry status.
  10. The writer lost me when he picked us to lose at Colorado... There is no reason we should drop that game. New coach, new system, and inferior talent. On top of those three factors, there won't be much of a home field advantage with 1/3 of the stadium wearing red. I also question the Maryland game loss... the other three seem like reasonable predictions. I have us at 8-4 or 9-3 on the low end and 10-2 or maybe 11-1 if the stars align.
  11. I can understand you viewpoint for sure. I believe it will translate to some great results but time will tell.
  12. As a former D1 pitcher, and current youth pitching coach, I love the pitching coach selection. Pitching coaches need to be mentors/therapists 80% of the time. I'm not sure anyone gets that quite as much as a catcher would. Development doesn't take a back seat but strength conditioning and the how to's are much more concrete and can be taught by grad assistants if necessary. The mental development is the tough one...
  13. 5 star talent all over the field makes up for a lot of mistakes. I personally would be surprised if they weren't a 10 win team in the running for the championship going into the game against Michigan.
  14. The flip side- If we beat them at home and have to play them again in the championship, it could be a rough game. I would take either option!
  15. This baseball season feels like the basketball season did... get our hopes high and then sink the ship. Sure hope they can turn it around.
  16. My biggest takeaway is that McCaffrey is going to be very good. Maybe even good enough that he will push AM for the starting role in a year or two. The competition yearly for that top spot will only make everyone better. Good stuff. Need to get that kid set up with one of the 10/10 cheerleaders so he doesn't transfer before we need him!
  17. Wish Allen luck going forward. Hopefully it ends up being a good decision for both. I'm guessing Fred could have retained him if he wanted to. I don't think it's a coincidence that he waited till today to make this announcement. They have obviously talked...
  18. It doesn't look like he posts a ton... I did learn he has had multiple open heart surgeries and he has a pace maker. I had no idea...
  19. My first reaction is why not choose something bold? I'm thinking something off the wall that actually helps provide a real home court advantage. But then I looked up some bold designs that are currently out there and I really think they look too over the top generally. https://www.ncaa.com/news/basketball-men/article/2016-01-13/college-basketball-9-most-interesting-court-designs In the end, I think going with 1 or 3 is the best best option.
  20. Tourney win in 3 years or less... next season seems possible if Roby stays. This hire should make a big enough splash to catch the eye of a couple solid recruits/transfers so I expect next year to be solid, just may take Fred a year or two to get the hang of the conference. The B1G is no cake walk.
  21. I get what BM is trying to do but I think the average kid Frost is going to bring in isn't going to care if we are 4th or 7th in facilities in the conference once this team starts winning like we all think is about to happen. Kids are going to come here because of what the team is doing. I think the media will almost always place us behind some of the other schools simply due to where we are.
  22. Decided would mean an actual signed, legal contract was in place. There was no way to actually sign a coach to a contact while still having someone in that position. BM was being 100% technically correct when he said nothing is decided. Someone saying they have interest or saying they would accept an offer doesn't mean it is decided. Contacts can take days/weeks to work out and people can and do back out of deals that look like a sure thing. He would be a fool to say it's a done deal until there is a legal contract binding FH and the university.
  23. I think tomorrow afternoon makes the most sense. No reason to prolong the inevitable.
  24. While many of us don't care for medias approach, we encourage it every time we read a story. Their job is to create emotion- regardless of who it impacts. Lars is just doing his job. The real issue is that he is being fed information from someone inside and that person is likely receiving compensation in some form or another for the information.
