  1. I feel like you can't say there were some parts of the defense I was pleasantly surprised with when they score 52 but also at the same time there were.
  2. I carved a Nebraska N on a pumpkin and a week later it got eaten by squirrels to be an O for Ohio St. In hindsight this was a very bad omen.
  3. Peyton Ramsey looked surprising good at Northwestern. When is the last time Northwestern put up 43 points against a B10 team? Ramsey did look good at Indiana, but I think a lot of QBs look good with Whop Philyor on the roster. Also, totally possible that Maryland is just that bad. Last year we looked like world beaters against them. Time will tell I guess.
  4. Am I being an as$ if my first thought was that he got it after having such a great game on Friday that he partied a bunch over the weekend afterwards? Obviously, just speculation as Madison is already a hotbed and could even be a false positive.
  5. Wandale got doubled a decent amount by Ohio St, so that's going to lead to him having a quieter game. Last year Wisconsin put a spy on Martinez to stop him from scrambling. I bet they do that again which would lead to more skill players like Wandale getting a lot more yards. For the record I hope Wandale gets doubled much more often. Great way for him to help others on the offense with a much less potential of him getting injured.
  6. Mertz gets cocky and doesn't prepare well, Wisconsin looks at the Ohio State score and doesn't take us seriously. Skers by 10
  7. Urb made a comment the B10 should look into waiving one or two. I have not gotten the feeling that the B10 is looking to do any favors for us.
  8. I told my wife, who is near graduation to be an ER doc, the awesome comeback story that is Thompkins and she replied "We're so weak behind Mills that a guy with 3 ACL tears is our number two guy." We're all assuming it's because he's so good that he earned it. Hopefully that's closer to the truth than he's the second best available among other young but promising talent. Even still, having that injury history is never going to be ideal.
  9. There has been nothing in the last half decade that would lead me to believe we are equally likely to be 8-0 as 0-8. We have lost to every team we've played outside of Illinois (easily could have lost to them as well) and on the flip side have gone over half a decade without beating half of the teams on our schedule. Of course there is a chance we go 0-8. We recently started out 0-6 against easier competition
  10. Presumably there's going to be a chain reaction with current high school kids. Average rated players don't get to go to P5 cause everyone is that much more full. These kids push out other kids and eventually people who would have been been D3 athletes don't get scholarships. Kinda sucks for all of them
  11. I'm glad Iowa was added. I didn't want to vote for them, I just wanted to see them get 0 votes.
  12. Time to find out if Gram Mertz is as good as their fans believe he is.
  13. I put those three departures into the class calculator for 247 and it put us at 230.02 which would be good for 25th in the nation still fourth in the B10.
  14. It really seems like half the teams thought football wouldn't actually happen and didn't prepare very well. Hopefully that's true of the teams on our schedule as well.
  15. Wisconsin also lost their best two defensive players (Chris Orr and Zack Baun) but return a decent amount of others. They are not practicing right now because of Covid. As others mentioned they are missing their running back and some really good offensive linemen as well. Obviously they reload very well. Wish we didn't play them after a very physical Ohio State game but I like that we got them early. It seems like this is as good a shot as any to pull an upset.
  16. Right now probably every position group they have is better than ours
  17. I remember some comments from the staff about JD taking a little longer than some to learn the ropes of the new system that Frost installed. He really hasn't been at TCU that long, I bet this is a huge factor.
  18. I too was underwhelmed by Ty Robinson's play in the Wisconsin game, but he's a true freshman that was matched up against Tyler Biadaszan, who won the Remington trophy and is now an NFL center. I still have high hopes for him, I don't think that it will be fully realized this year.
  19. If I'm betting for Nebraska to beat the spread - I like the Penn State game. They have a tendency to play down to their opponents even with Micah Parsons. Still take them to win the game though. If I'm betting against Nebraska - I like the Northwestern game. That game always seems to be super close. 7.5 seems like a lot. God help us if we don't win this game.
  20. I think they come out swinging excited about football to come back and knowing they only have 9 games to make an impression to get into the playoff. I think an Ohio State blowout is the most likely outcome. We play Wisconsin the week after a very physical game at Ohio State. That plus our record against them since joining the big ten 1-7? I think. I don't think this is the year we beat Wisconsin either.
  21. That's not the worst case scenario. In fact that's better than the average scenario. 2016: 62 - 3 2017: 56-14 2018: 36-31 2019: 48-7 Average: 50.5 - 13.75
  22. In the last three years we have gone: 0-3 against Ohio St 0-3 against Wisconsin 1-2 against Northwestern 0-1 against Penn St Real chance we start the year 0-4
