  1. It's called hope. We haven't had this kind of hope in years. Did anyone seriously think Callahan, Pelini or Riley was going to be around long term to turn this thing back into a powerhouse? Callahan and Pelini would have left for greener pastures as soon as we got good and their coaching stock went up. Riley was just too close to the end of his career when he started here. I think it is very possible Frost finishes out his career at Nebraska, or at least gives us 15-20 years. Building a foundation the right way takes time.
  2. Great thread! I'm feeling better already. We all wanted a fast improvement. Who wouldn't if given the choice? However, we were dealt some bad cards so far this season with the rainout and then AMart's injury. Its going to take longer that we hoped for, but that's OK. The future is bright. I think a lot of us feel we were on our way to beating Colorado by two scores if it wasn't for a few plays here and there. But, sometimes a few plays is all it takes to swing things from a good start to the season to a bad one plus the aforementioned bad luck we got. Anyways, as long as we can avoid blowouts and and meltdowns, I still think we'll be clicking pretty good two months from now. Getting Martinez back would help too.
  3. I learned I don't particularly care for the running back rotation. All three had at least one nice run today, but I say go with the hot hand. Especially, in the second half.
  4. You didn’t read the earlier posts. IMO Bohunk didn’t imply this at all.
  5. This is great news. I see a lot of potential in this young man. Welcome aboard Mr Hickman!
  6. I remember hearing he has a good frame for adding good weight so I would imagine TE is the plan. Otherwise, I think he’d make a good wideout.
  7. Depending on what his injury is, it may take a while to be 100%.
  8. I’m sure they knew it was always a possibility, but as a coach there is only so much you can do. Frost has made it pretty clear he only wants players who want to be there.
  9. Here's what I learned at the game today: 1. small 4x6 inch binocular cases are a major security threat and will be confiscated. 2. Troy was faster that we were. 3. Our receivers couldn't get open. 4. We whiffed on blocks all day long. 5. Blackshirts played aggressive, but coaches didn't always have them in the best position and Troy exploited that very well. 6. We did a poor job recognizing blitzes. 7. We need way more speed on offense.
  10. May need it to get 6 wins, but even then I seems doubtful we go bowling this season.
  11. You don't think Power Five conference college football is high stakes these days with all the millions of dollars these programs are bringing in and paying coaches, etc? "This is a game played by school kids. It's entertainment. Nothing more." OK, I guess you don't.
  12. You stated you didn't blame Gebbia for transferring ("...Gebbia did what many college football players do, he transferred, it may have been selfish but I don't blame him...") I guess I took that as you don't think he has any blame and were putting it all on Frost. I went a little overboard by suggesting you may be a Frost hater. My bad. Nothing wrong with giving him criticism. Burrow would have been a good backup, but I would imagine Burrow was only coming here if he was going to be the starter. Just me guessing on that. Basically I see Gebbia as screwing this team over at a bad time and he's getting a pass for it. He should have just left in the spring so the coaches could have then looked for another option at that time.
  13. A few questions. Where exactly is Frost supposed to easily find a quarterback in the spring or summer as you suggested earlier? You think it’s acceptable to quit on your teammates the week before the season because you aren’t the day one starter? You actually think that Gebbia has no blame for our quarterback situation? I’m trying to figure out if I’m completely off base or if you’re Gebbia’s Dad or just a Frost hater, etc.
  14. Really? So Frost should just name a starter in the spring so the other guy can just go ahead and transfer. Then he can start adding these other quarterbacks to the roster who are so easily found in the offseason. The current quarterback situation is 90% on Gebbia. He chose to quit on his team 5 days before the first game because it was always about him and not the team. He basically took up half the fall camp reps that otherwise could have gone to Bunch for nothing. I guarentee you if the coaches had any inkling that Gebbia was going to grab his ball and run home if he wasn't the starter, he would have been shown the road a long time ago. I'm surprised more people don't seen to be too upset about Gebbia leaving. Don't give me this "he's only a college kid" or "just trying to pursue his hopes and dreams" BS. This is big time football with high stakes.
  15. Total crap job by BTN on this little weigh in. Basically you have some ex linebacker that essentially minimizes it because of the usual "thats what happens in piles" BS. So that makes it OK? What, so you can just wrench on someones ankle whenever you want and as long as you have you home conference refs looking the other way, no biggie? Then that idiot, Pat Forde, who accuses frost of using the media for this instead of focusing on the lost. He was asked a direct question in the press conference about it and he answered it. Not good BTN.
  16. I don’t see Michigan as being on a downward trend. They possibly have the best defense in the conference and it’s too early to discount their offense IMO. I get how Harbaugh doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt, but if they figure out something on offense and start winning that will change fast. I also think Wisconsin is overrated this year. I guess we’ll see how it all plays out soon enough.
  17. If we go into Ann Arbor and beat Michigan with their defense , I honestly don’t know how anyone could not think we’d have a good chance doing the same to Wisconsin in Madison.
  18. Yes. He is faster than he showed Saturday. He ran somewhat uncertain and tentative in his few touches last year too. It will improve with game reps and confidence.
  19. Turnovers will cancel out an otherwise impressive offensive performance and likely lead to an L more often than not. This felt like a could a-would a -should a Pelini era game where we lost to an inferior opponent by shooting our selves in the foot too many times. That being said, we are definitely improved over last season and we should be competitive in every game we play this season.
  20. Just stop talking. Gebbia is a quitter. Plain and simple.
  21. Ethan Cox was a dynamic HS quarterback. In a pinch, I wouldn't be surprised hear he was taking some practice reps.
  22. It’s too bad about JoeJoe balding already.
  23. We beat Iowa by >2 touchdowns this year.
  24. Watched Wind River last night on Netflix. Good movie. I'm a Jeremy Renner fan though.
  25. That could be what happened as well. I'm assuming this is a higher-end neighborhood. If so, these houses generally have security cameras, outdoor motion lights/sensors and security alarms at the bare minimum. So you really couldn't be sure no one was living there unless you cased the place for days, which would draw attention. Why would you risk encountering one of the aformenitoned security measures or a dog, etc. unless you knew it was unoccupied and any security systems would be disabled or not yet functioning. Id'd wager on an acquaintance of a worker being the culprit. They probably got together Thursday or Friday and had some beers or smoked some weed and the worker said something like "guess who's house were working on now...there's no security and the garage door is/or will be unlocked". I'm just speculating on all this. Criminals aren't very intelligent though, so who know how much planning actually took place. Hopefully LPD catches the guy(s) soon and this can get resolved.
